Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, has sued the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Bernard Bediako Baidoo, and broadcaster Abubakar Alhassan, popularly known as Blakk Rasta.
According to Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, his suit is against the two individuals for allegedly “spewing falsehoods” about his person.
In a statement dated Monday, September 28, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah disclosed that he has filed a Writ of Summons against Bernard Bediako Baidoo and Blakk Rasta, over what he describes as false statements made against him.
He disclosed that he deliberately chose to pursue the matter through the civil courts, rather than seeking criminal prosecution over the alleged publication of false information.
Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, in his statement, stated, “I have today, 28th September 2026, filed a Writ of Summons against the underlisted persons for spewing falsehoods against my person”.
“Unlike the government, I have chosen the path of democrats, by seeking relief through civil court rather than pursuing criminal prosecution for the publication of false news,” he said.
“The above having been said, I wish to state that the attempt by the government to intimidate and silence me in my quest to fight for the poor mother of three (3) minor children who was kidnapped by state security agents… and remains in police custody has failed.”
“I remain committed to fighting for Madam Salomey Awiti Bafoh’s liberty as well as Camilla Alhassan to ensure that they are reunited with their family who await their return.”
In related news, the High Court in Accra has denied the bail application of Salomey Awiti Baffoe, a senior nursing officer based in Techiman linked to the Ghana Jollof case.
Salomey Awity Baffoe is facing a charge of abetment of crime in connection with content attributed to the “Ghana Jollof” social media account.
The High Court declined the application, arguing the ongoing nature of investigations and concerns that evidence could be deleted if Ms Baffoe is granted bail.
Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, the lawyer for the nurse, made this known following a virtual hearing before the court.
“The court said that [1] investigations are ongoing. [2] The investigations are cyber-related; therefore, releasing the woman may result in her deleting all the information that could serve as evidence”, lawyer Baffour Awuah said.
The High Court decision means Ms Baffoe will remain in custody while investigations continue.
Meanwhile, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has denied allegations by the Ghana Police Service that his client received money from the operator of the “Ghana Jollof” TikTok account to support the publication and circulation of online content.
According to Baffour Awuah, his client has never received any money to recruit people or to support the account’s activities.
The denial follows allegations by the Ghana Police Service that Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, whom the Police identify as the operator of the “Ghana Jollof” account, remitted money to Baffoe in Ghana to support the publication and circulation of online content.
The Police claimed that Baffoe consequently distributed portions of the funds to other individuals involved in redistributing videos produced by Kodua across various social media platforms.
The Police further detailed that a forensic examination of Baffoe’s mobile phone, audio and video files, and mobile money transaction records provided evidence of the alleged financial arrangements between the two women.
However, Lawyer for Salomey Awity Baffoe, speaking on Citi FM on September 22, 2026, stated, “My client has never received money to recruit anybody or has never given money to anybody to recruit someone”.
He further questioned the information presented by the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department, COP Lydia Donkor, during a press briefing on the case, saying, “The CID Director-General came out and then did a press conference and put out certain information. I want to say that that information is doubtful in nature”.
Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah also said his client did not know anyone identified as “Jollof”.
The lawyer stressed that he would not speculate about the identity of the person behind the account but would focus on the specific allegations against his client.
“So let me say this here, my client has never known anybody called Jollof. You don’t have to know by that name. You can know the person by their real name,” he added.
