Femi Asante disclosed that the stroke forced her to adjust her daily routine and priorities.

Speaking in a podcast interview with The Peswa, Femi stated, “When my husband suffered a stroke, I had just arrived in London when I got the call, and I had to head back to New York, and for six months, my younger children were here”.

“My whole life changed, like everything just changed. My daily routine, what I had to do, what I had to prioritise and stuff, but I just kept going because God’s grace carried me through,” she added.

She further disclosed that despite the challenges, she said her husband’s determination to recover had been a source of encouragement.

Femi Asante added, “After he had a stroke, coming back and seeing how much progress that he’s made and continues to make, and his resilience and his determination, he’s my hero. You know, for him to be able to keep going in the face of everything. I’m not the strong one in this picture. He is.

“So, I look back, and I’m like, I don’t even know how we did it, from when he just had suffered a stroke for him to be able to resume normalcy now and be able to walk again, to talk, and it reminds me of how good God is,” she added.

It will be recalled that Nana Asante Bediatuo reportedly fell ill in 2024. The then Office of the President issued a statement following rumours of his death.

The statement read, “Following the conclusion of the meeting of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, in the United States of America, where he served as a key member of President Akufo-Addo’s delegation, Nana Asante Bediatuo stayed behind to conduct further government business.

“According to the medical team, Nana Asante Bediatuo’s recovery is on track, and we remain hopeful for his swift return to full strength,” portions of that statement read.

Also, a rumour last year claimed that Nana Asante Bediatuo had a 10-hour brain operation in the United States.

Bediatuo was a member of a delegation that accompanied the now former President Akufo-Addo to the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where he was reportedly feeling unwell.

The last we heard from the presidency regarding Nana Asante Bediatuo’s health issues was a few months ago, when the Office of the President issued a press statement.

According to the statement, Nana Bediatuo was ill and receiving treatment in the United States.

Later reports coming out of the United States, where he was undergoing treatment, disclosed that he was recuperating more quickly.

“He is currently in stable condition and responding well to treatment,” read the statement verifying his recovery. The medical staff reports that Nana Bediatuo Asante is making good progress, and we’re still holding out hope that he’ll soon be fully recovered. During this trying time, we kindly ask for your continuous prayers and support for him and his family. When needed, more updates will be sent”.

According to the report, Nana Asante Bediatuo is receiving post-recovery therapy and is working with therapists to learn how to walk and grasp.

However, Nana Asante Bediatuo later returned to Ghana, according to reports in the early hours of Saturday, March 8, 2025.

Reports suggest he was discreetly flown into the country on a chartered flight from the United States, arriving at a time when the airport was less busy.

Nana Asante Bediatuo, some months later, then made his first public appearance at Akufo-Addo’s 81st birthday party.

Also, Nana Asante Bediatuo, some months ago, made yet another sporadic public appearance as he recovers from a stroke.

In a viral video widely circulated on Facebook on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Asante Bediatuo was joined by businessman Osei Kwame ‘Despite’, former Blackstar defender Samuel Osei Kuffour, and other members of the East Legon Executive Club.

Asante Bediatuo dazzled the guests at the celebration when he took the microphone to perform a song for the crowd.

He was dressed in an all-black suit. Bediatuo performed Nana Tuffour’s hit track Nyankonton.

The 90s hit talks about life’s struggles in relation to poverty, ill health, and childlessness.

Kwame Despite and his friends looked enchanted by Bediatuo’s performance.

Sammy Kuffour, in the video, was spotted helping Bediatuo to stand on his feet by holding him, and also had a microphone to back him up.
