One of the victims featured in Manasseh Azure Awuni’s investigative documentary, Inside the Dreaded Headmaster’s Bungalow, has recounted an alleged sexual abuse incident involving the headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (Obuasi SHTS).
The victim, identified as Victim A, described how the headmaster allegedly subjected her to sexual abuse while she was in his bungalow.
According to the Victim, he was raped by the headmaster of Obuasi SHTS but never got justice, even after reporting the incident to the appropriate authorities.
Speaking in the documentary, Victim A stated, “He held my hand and used it to rub his manhood, took off my shorts and forced himself on me. After that, he gave me GH¢100 and warned me not to mention it to anyone.”
Also, another Victim identified as Victim B alleged that the headmaster gave her oil and instructed her to stroke his private parts. When she refused, he allegedly threatened her, reminding her that he had locked her inside the bungalow and that nobody knew she was there.
“He gave me oil and asked me to stroke his private parts. When I refused, he reminded me that he had locked me in and nobody knew I was in his bungalow, threatening that he could kill me and nobody would find out. He ejaculated four times before allowing me to leave,” she recounted.
Their account forms part of the allegations presented in the documentary by Manasseh Azure, which examines claims of sexual abuse involving the headmaster and raises questions about how school authorities responded to complaints from students.
Some netizens reacting to the victim’s revelation stated, “And this is jxt Obuasi. Go to Toase SHS and Juaben SHS to ask of his track record. I hear he left quite a disgusting one in those places”.
One X user added, “This is bigger than one school or one headmaster. It’s about a culture that protected adults and sacrificed children for decades under every government. Obuasi just happened to get a journalist who refused to look away”.
A netizen added, “Everyone who knew should be arrested or face the consequence.
Why do they keep transferring him to different schools?
Someone does this horrible act, and you say I advised him not to do it again”.
“This is a man who is a known sexual offender or predator. Using his position to harm young girls, the GES is aware of this, yet they keep transferring him whenever an incident happens. Smh”, one X user added.
A netizen wrote, “A nation that can’t protect vulnerable people, but is only interested in politics & religion. This goes on in even universities, but victims are told to keep silent or face more victimisation. Haba Ghana!”
Additionally, one netizen added, “I can’t imagine what rape must feel like. Well, I can because I have a fair idea about what it can look like. Sometimes it’s just sheer luck that some of us escaped. Why must you force yourself on a woman? Why? I think rapists should just have their pinis bitten off”.
“After an hour, none of the people who chastised and dragged Andy Dosty weeks ago have seen this or heard it. Why? Maybe cos of his political affiliation. loool… But we have the resources to organise press conferences and go after Ghana jollof. Detain a mother for over a week”, a netizen added.
One last X user added, “Teachers been sleeping with these kids and it has become almost normal to the point if you report them sef it doesn’t go anywhere! @GhPoliceService is there a reason why this man isn’t in jail yet? We need a statement on this case”.
