Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy General Secretary Koku Anyidoho has criticised former Member of Parliament Nii Lante Vanderpuye over his reported ambition to contest for the party’s National Chairmanship position.

Koku Anyidoho described the ambition as “senseless” and alleged that it was being encouraged by Church Street, a group within the governing party.

In a post on social media, he urged Nii Lante Vanderpuye to abandon the contest, insisting that he would not win.

“Forget this senseless ambition of yours supported by Church Street. You will NOT win and you are wasting your time,” Mr Anyidoho wrote.

He further warned that he could make additional revelations if those he described as Mr Vanderpuye’s supporters continued to back the bid.

“Don’t force me to say what I don’t want to say. Tell your Church Street masters to back off before some of us say what we don’t want to say,” he added.

Koku Anyidoho stated, “Forget this senseless ambition of yours supported by Church Street.

You will NOT win and you are wasting your time.

Don’t force me to say what I don’t want to say.

Tell your Church Street masters to back off before some of say what we don’t want to say”.

Koku Anyidoho’s comments come after Vanderpuye indicated his willingness to contest for the NDC National Chairmanship, although he tied his decision to whether the incumbent chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, would seek re-election.

Speaking on Face to Face on Tuesday, Nii Lante Vanderpuye said he would enter the race if Asiedu Nketiah decided not to contest.

“If the current Chairman, my very good brother Johnson Asiedu Nketia, is not contesting, I will contest,” he stated.

However, the NDC Director of Elections and IT, Mahdi Gibril, has disclosed that Mr Asiedu Nketiah had not picked nomination forms by the close of nominations and had not indicated an intention to contest.

Mr Gibril explained that the party’s records showed that some individuals had neither picked forms nor informed the party of plans to do so.

“These are those I know that did not pick. In any case, they did not indicate to us that they would pick,” he said.

The development raises questions about the potential contest for the party’s top leadership position as the NDC prepares for its next round of internal elections.

Meanwhile, earlier, Koku Anyidoho, told the party’s aspiring National Chairman, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye his political career is finished.

According to Koku Anyidoho, Vanderpuye’s failure to stay true to his conscience had cost him his political career.

In an X post on August 21, 2026, Koku Anyidoho stated, “We were very close brothers;  President Atta-Mills died and all I did was defy all odds to give him a befitting resting place; you did absolutely NOTHING to help honour the memory of our late late Leader and boss; you wickedly held a press conference to lie to the whole world that I had gone to dig up the grave of the late President and run away with his bones for ritual purposes; Today look at how miserable a wretch you have become because you cannot be true to your conscience.

You want to become National Chairman of our great NDC?

This gross inability to be true to your conscience has FINISHED your political career.

Go to Asomdwe Park and beg for forgiveness.

What are you struggling to “clarify”?  Apuuuuu!!!!

You thought you were destroying me …”
