He further conveyed the condolences of President John Dramani Mahama and pledged the government’s support to the bereaved family.

Mr Ablakwa told the father, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “We will pursue justice, and we will make sure that those who did this do not get away with it”.

“We are all saddened. We are all distraught. He did not deserve this,” he said.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry also disclosed that Ghana’s Permanent Mission in New York had also visited the family at their residence on Friday to express their condolences and solidarity.

They further condemned the killing and called on the relevant authorities in the Bronx to conduct a thorough investigation to bring the culprit to book.

The Ministry further indicated it would actively pursue the matter in collaboration with US authorities to provide the family with the necessary legal and consular assistance.

Meanwhile, the government also extended its condolences to Javits’ mother, Doris Adu Gyamfi, in Kumasi, as well as his friends and other relatives in Ghana and the US.

In related news, the father of Javits Frimpong, identified as Thomas Frimpong, has broken down in tears while speaking to the media about his deceased son who was shot dead.

According to Thomas Frimpong, his son had moved from Africa to the United States only a year ago and described him as quiet.

Thomas Frimpong, speaking to journalists, disclosed that his son complained of being bullied by some students.

He further revealed that two students were suspended for repeatedly bullying his son.

Thomas Frimpong stated, “ I got a call that my son was not at school. I said he always comes to school; in three minutes’ time I got another call that my son has been shot. The Principal gave me the address. I rushed to the hospital, and they said my son had passed out.

It’s not easy, ma’am. It’s not easy. I’m here with him,” he said tearfully.

“He’s just one year; he just came from Africa, just one year ago. It was yesterday; he got one year here,” he added.

The father further revealed that he learned from the principal of his son’s school, Dreamyard Preparatory, that his son had been in an incident a few days earlier.

He stated, “Two boys, um, were fighting with my son and the two boys got suspended”.

“He said, ‘Dad, any time I am going to lunch, that guy keeps on bullying me.’ He said, ‘I have been reporting him several times,’” Thomas Frimpong said.

“My son is very quiet. My son didn’t talk. He don’t talk,” Thomas Frimpong said.

He added, “I don’t think they are going to go free for killing an innocent child”.
