The Government of Ghana welcomes your intervention and President Trump’s timely decision.

We have always known we can count on our own Kwame Mamdani.

I spoke with the mother of Javits Frimpong yesterday and assigned officials of Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assist her with the visa application process.

Madam Doris Adu Gyamfi’s pain as a loving mother is unimaginable, and indeed everything must be done to ensure she is present to pay her respects.

The Mahama Administration will take care of the full cost of Madam Adu Gyamfi’s travels and also stands ready to contribute towards a dignifying funeral.

We resolve to continue to work together in securing justice for Javits”.

Ablakwa made this known, reacting to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who announced that US President Donald Trump has agreed to facilitate an immediate visa for the mother of 15-year-old Ghanaian boy Javits Frimpong, who was shot dead in the United States.

Mamdani said Trump gave the assurance during a telephone conversation, following concerns over the mother’s ability to travel to the US to bid farewell to her son.

In a social media post on October 31, 2026, the New York City mayor said he had personally spoken with the US president, who agreed to grant the bereaved mother a visa without delay.

“The murder of a child is a pain no parent should have to endure, let alone from thousands of miles away.

“Javits Frimpong’s mother deserves to say goodbye to her son in person. I just got off the phone with President Trump, and he has agreed to grant her visa immediately.

“All of New York City is mourning this tragedy,” Mamdani wrote.

The development follows the 15-year-old Ghanaian boy, identified as Javits Frimpong, who was shot dead in the Bronx, New York, on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

According to reports, Javits Frimpong was shot near the intersection of Crotona Place and East 171st Street shortly before 9:30 a.m. while reportedly on his way to school.

The information gathered suggests the teenager was shot in the abdomen and was found in and out of consciousness.

Police are searching for three male suspects, but no arrests have been made. The motive remains unclear.

Reports suggest the suspects, who were last seen wearing black clothing, were fleeing down Fulton Avenue, with two of them were wearing surgical masks.

Meanwhile, Surveillance video shows a person fleeing the scene who matched a description released by police.

The video showed someone wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants and a mask.

According to authorities, the victim ran about a block after being shot before collapsing. He later died at a hospital.

Also, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Foreign Affairs Minister, speaking on behalf of the President, has expressed the government’s grief over the death of 15-year-old Ghanaian teenager Javits Frimpong.

According to Ablakwa, the government will pursue justice following his fatal shooting in the Bronx, New York.

Reports disclosed that Ablakwa gave the assurance during a telephone conversation with the victim’s father, Thomas Frimpong, on Friday, October 30, 2026.

He further conveyed the condolences of President John Dramani Mahama and pledged the government’s support to the bereaved family.

Mr Ablakwa told the father, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “We will pursue justice, and we will make sure that those who did this do not get away with it”.

“We are all saddened. We are all distraught. He did not deserve this,” he said.
