NewsNPP's National Chairman has gone into hiding after defeat – Asiedu Nketia jabs

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has hilariously jabbed the New Patriotic Party (NPP )’s National Chairman Stephen Ntim.

According to John Asiedu Nketia, Stephen Ntim has gone into hiding after the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 defeats.

During the final funeral rites of the acting national deputy security coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, a representative of the King of Mamprusi announced Asiedu Nketia as the NPP National Chairman.

Speaking at the final funeral rites, Asiedu Nketiah, although the Mamprusi king’s representative corrected his mistake, stated, “Let me gladly accept the honour conferred on me as the Acting National Chairman of NPP by His Majesty, the representative of the King of Mamprusi. He is our grandfather, so I cannot reject the title that is conferred on me.”

Asideu Nketia further aimed a dig at the NPP’s National Chairman, who he claimed has gone into hiding after the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections.

“It is fitting and proper because the NPP National Chairman comes from my place. We are brothers. Unfortunately, after their friendly defeat, he’s gone into hiding,” he remarked.

Asiedu Nketia further urged the NPP to come to him for advice to help them get out of their problems.

“If there is somebody who should take care of his in his absence, I have accepted that responsibility. And so, my brothers (NPP), if you need any advice as to how to get out of your problems, you can come to your brother. I will be acting until my brother comes back to acting for the days or you find a fitting replacement,” he said to more laughter from the gathering”, he added.

However, it must be noted that the National Chairman, Stephen Ntim, is family in June 16, 2025, issued a statement raising concerns over his current condition.

The letter, signed by the family members, including Kingsley Oteng (Family Head), Adelaide Ntim (MP), and other close relatives, stated, “We, the family members of Mr Stephen Ayesu Ntim, National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, bring you warm greetings.

To begin with, we can all attest to Mr. Stephen Ntim’s lifetime commitment and dedication to The New Patriotic Party for decades, rising through the ranks from 1st National Deputy Chairman to his distinguished service as the current Nationa Chairman, as demonstrated by his genteel but very assertive leadership style, his enthusiasm to his job and his sheer love for this great party.

At this juncture, we the family members of Mr Stephen Ntim have learned that the party has convened a meeting scheduled to be chaired by Mr Ntim and we would like our beloved son, brother, nephew and relative, Stephen Ntim, to be excused from attendance of this event, due to recent developments on his health and well being beginning from today 16th, June 2025.

Although not official, it is well known that Mr. Ntim is not well at the moment, and his condition requires time off from active professional activities in the interest of medical attention and monitoring for the time being

Therefore, in compliance with his professional medical advice and in cognisance of his demanding office, we, the family members, do hereby request that Mr Ntim be temporarily excused, not only from active office duty but also from outright party politics until further notice”, the family stated.

They added, “This is the resolution from the recent extended family meeting. Common sense dictates that Steve, as a matter of urgency, be temporarily excused, not only from the rigours of active politics but from intra-party activities in order to make way for needed peace and solace and for concentration on the ongoing required medical treatment process”.
