Gertrude Cindy Amaniangpong, a Ghanaian woman based in the United States of America, has been found dead in her apartment in Ohio.
According to reports, the deceased was discovered by American police three weeks after her death, with her body already decomposing on her bed.
Reports suggest the late Gertrude was a former member of The Maker’s House Chapel in Accra and had recently completed her Master’s degree in the US.
Popular US-based YouTuber and blogger De God Son TV stated, “The Ghanaian lady, between 32 and 34 years old, was a very beautiful girl. For the past three weeks, she had been dead on her bed and decomposing in Ohio without anyone’s knowledge. She didn’t have a husband or a child, and I have cried today. She recently completed her Master’s degree in the US.
“She needed someone to talk to, but couldn’t. From what we gathered, she was going through some challenges”.
He added, “She is called Gertrude Cindy Amaniangpong. We have made several calls to her friends and to Ghana because we learned she fellowshipped with The Maker’s House Chapel.
“We have also spoken to some people…and one man who used to visit her frequently. However, he claims he doesn’t know any of her family members. The police want to speak to someone”.
Kumawood actress Yaa Nicky reportedly at the scene with De God Son TV, said they decided to contact the police after not hearing from Gertrude for a while.
“Akantuomunsem, I went to check up on her this morning. I was feeling uneasy when I got to her door. I went to the leasing office, and we involved the police. We opened the door, entered, and found out she had died a couple of weeks ago. RIP, Getty,” Yaa Nicky said.
Meanwhile, the Ghanaian community in the United States has been struck with grief following reports of the discovery of the decomposing remains of a Ghanaian woman, identified as Getty, inside her home.
Following the incident, police authorities reported to the scene and removed the body for further investigations into the tragic discovery.
Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have reacted to the news, saying, Such heartbreaking news. No one deserves to leave this world unnoticed like that. May her soul rest in peace, and may this serve as a wake-up call for our Ghanaian communities abroad to check in on one another more often.”
Another stated, “There’s no better place for Ghanaians than Ghana ooo but our system is unfavourable atm…sad life”
One more netizen added, “Depression is a real issue that is taking more lives abroad than poverty. By now her family thinks their daughter is overseas, struggling to find a better life”.
A netizen added, “The Ghanaian community needs to learn how to contact 911 for wellness checks on people showing unusual communication behaviours. This situation is becoming overwhelming”.
Additionally, a netizen advised, “Do not be a loner! Get a roommate or someone who will check on you frequently. It will even save you money. Our people will take up 2-3 jobs so they can rent an apartment alone. Build a big house in Ghana for some useless family member to live in. All to go like this”
