A group of women has narrowly escaped drowning while crossing the Samre River.
In the viral video shared by GHnow on X, the group of women canoe capsized while they were crossing the Samre River along the Samreboi-Amoaku road in the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality.
Some nearby residents of the area were able to rescue the women after their canoe capsized.

Reports suggest the tragic incident happened at the Krachi West District of the Oti Region when the canon capsized on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
According to eyewitnesses, the victims were heading to a funeral when water began seeping into the canoe between Okuma-Akura and Debume.
The Assembly Member for the area revealed that about 21 people were on board at the time.
Fifteen of the twenty-one people have been confirmed dead, while six others were rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, Professor Nana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the vice president of Ghana, has adopted a survivor of the River Oti boat tragedy and her baby.
Speaking to the community members in Okuma – Debume, the Vice-President called on residents living along riverbanks to prioritise wearing life jackets on the lake.
She highlighted that wearing life jackets will significantly reduce the risk of fatalities in water accidents.
Professor Nana Jane Opoku-Agyemang further donated relief items to support the families of those who lost their lives in the disaster.
The Vice-President’s relief items included “200 life jackets, four bales of second-hand clothing, 70 cartons of Frytol, 100 bags of rice, 10 cartons of soap, 100 bales of mosquito nets and GH¢200,000 cash”.
Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang also announced a comprehensive state response to the recent canoe disaster in Kete Krachi.
She further revealed that the government will assume full financial responsibility for the burial of the deceased victims and is mobilising to provide rapid support for the survivors of the tragic accident.
