News“Get a Passport in 1 Day!” - Foreign Affairs Minister announces

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced that Ghanaians can now get their passport within a day of applying.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, in a social media post on X, announced the bold and innovative passport reforms.

He wrote, “Get a Passport in 1 Day!  Our bold and innovative passport reforms continue. Introducing the first-ever 1-Day Passport Delivery Service. Finally, a super expedited solution to take care of all emergencies”.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, however, highlighted that special charges apply to the 1-Day Passport Delivery Service.

According to the flyer shared by the Foreign Affairs Minister, reveals the 1-Day Passport Delivery Service comes at an amount of 2000 cedis.

“From discovering your passport has expired on your way to the airport or having a medical emergency, we have got you covered. Implementation begins on Thursday, November 13, 2025. Special charges apply”, he added.

Also, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced that the new passport application fee of GH₵350 starts from Thursday, November 13, 2025.

The new change in price will see Ghanaians enjoy a 30 per cent cut in prices from the previous GH₵500 to GH₵350.

The reduction of passport fees is part of the government’s move to ease the financial burden on Ghanaians and also part of the Mahama government’s campaign plan to review passport processing.

In a social media post on X, Ablakwa stated, “New Passport Application Fee of GHS350 (a 30% reduction) comes into effect this Thursday, November 13, 2025”.

The new fees will be taken at all Passport Application Centres nationwide starting Thursday, November 13, 2025.

In related news, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, some months ago, revealed that regions without a passport application centre will have one by December 2025.

Ablakwa revealed that starting with Bolgatanga this month, all regions without an application centre will have one.

The Foreign Affairs Minister also noted that Ghanaians are now happy with the efficiency of receiving their passports in record time.

Speaking during a ceremony to hand over diplomatic passports to five distinguished Ghanaians, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa stated, “The Foreign Affairs Ministry has become very efficient, and Ghanaians are already confirming that now it is a smooth process. They are receiving their passports in record time and do not have to stress to pick them up at passport offices, because they are being delivered via courier services.

“But we still have seven regions without passport application centres. I am delighted to announce that by December, we will make sure every region without a passport application centre has one, starting with Bolgatanga this month,” he said.
