Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a social activist and private legal practitioner, has announced he was robbed near the Achimota Overhead on Wednesday, November 20.
According to Oliver Barker-Vormawor, he lost several valuable items in the Achimota robbery incident.
In a Facebook post, Barker-Vormawor wrote, “Not less than 30 minutes ago, I was robbed near Achimota Overhead”.
He further went on to list his items stolen, “My MacBook, iPad, Google pixel 9, Cash of 9500, Credit cards, House key, 2 Wallets, Sony Headphones, Books. All gone! Hmmm”
A few hours later, Barker-Vormawor shared an update on the robbery, revealing that his Google Pixel had been found, but with the phone screen damaged.
According to him, the phone might have fallen when the robber was escaping.
He wrote, “Google Pixel found. Must have fallen when he was running. But car tyres got to it first!”.
The private lawyer further shared another post commending Detective Chief Inspector Victor Mensah of the Achimota Police Station.
Vormawor wrote, “I want to commend Detective Chief Inspector Victor Mensah of the Achimota Police Station.
It’s heartwarming when a Police Officer shows that much empathy and concern when you report a matter”.
In related news, Oliver Barker-Vormawor’s Democracy Hub and its partners have filed a defamation suit against the leader of the New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar).
The Democracy Hub and its members, including lawyer Oliver Barker-Vormawor, have sued Nana Kwame Bediako over his comments suggesting the September 2024#SayNoGalamsey protest was funded by a major political party.
Nana Kwame Bediako, in a video shared on his social media on September 25, 2024, alleged that the #ReoccupyJulorbiHouse and the #FixTheCountry protest are all machinations of a political party.
Cheddar in the video stated, “Well, let me tell you something: all of these protests and demonstrations that have been organised in this country in the past year or two are organised by one of the duopolies. It is the same politician, and I said it.
I am not going to mention names, but you know that Julorbi and Fix The Country were fixed by one of the existing parties. We cannot do this to ourselves and destroy this country because of a politician’s personal interest or a party’s interest”.
He further added, “Please, Ghana, do your research. The people in front of all these demonstrations, some of them have treason charges.
Ask, find out who is sponsoring them for the mobilisation and all the things that happened. This is not about galamsey; this is about political interest”, he stated.
In their suit filed, the Democracy Hub is requesting the court declare that the allegation by Cheddar is defamatory and also urging the court to order him to apologise and retract his remarks, also to pay damages for ruining their reputation.
