A viral video has surfaced following thousands of Ghanaians yesterday, November 28, 2025, who bid a final farewell to the country’s longest-serving First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.
There was a hilarious moment which brought smiles to the faces of the mourners.
During the State Funeral held in honour in memroy of Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings at the Independence Square in Accra, there was awkward but also hilarious moments when one of the officiating ministers at the event mistakenly replaced the name of the late former First Lady with that of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The Priest, concluding with his prayer, stated, “Through Jesus Christ our Lord, may He grant a sweet repose to the soul of our dear sister, Her Excellency ‘Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’.”
Realising his mistake, the priest immediately shook his head and corrected his mistake immediately.
The cameras at the event then immediately captured the former president and those around him laughing after the Priest’s mistake.
The mention of Akufo-Addo in place of the late Nana Konadu Rawlings drew laughter from many.
Some Ghanaians reacting to the man of God’s blunder stated, “The name ‘Nana’ triggers a flashback to the past president’s reign. It’s not his fault”.
“After shaking his head, he was like the devil is a liar”, a netizen added.
“E be like pastor no forgive addo D for the haircut ooh .. pastor say stiiiiiiirrrrrrr addo d for go 6 feet”, another Ghanaian added.
Additionally, a netizen added, “Even me here, I was like Nana Jane Opoku Agyemang. It’s not his fault. Anyway, may our Veep live longer, Amen”.
Meanwhile, the First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings’ state burial ceremony was organised under the auspices of President John Dramani Mahama.
The state burial honoured Mrs Rawlings for her remarkable dedication and significant contributions to the promotion of women’s and children’s rights, as well as her service to national development.
