The Wa Technical Institute in the Upper West Region, Bursar, has been arrested for diverting foodstuffs meant for students to her home.
According to reports, the Bursar was arrested after foodstuffs meant for students were spotted packed into a pick-up truck while en route to her residence.
Reports suggest authorities have already begun an investigation into the matter.
Some Ghanaians reacting to the news stated, “This is widespread. Every school that stocks food must have undercover agents investigate them for at least 6 months and Ghana will be shocked by what will come out. They should start from Berekum College of Education. I know what I’m talking about”.
“So now bursars dey compete chop bar with students’ food. The boldness sef reach Olympic level. Next somebody go blame the system”, a netizen added.
In related news, Fedelia Kudaariwo, a bursar of the Northern School of Business Senior High School (NOBISCO), has been arrested.
The NOBISCO bursar was arrested after she was caught diverting food supplies meant for the school.
Reports revealed Fedelia Kudaariwo attempted to make away with nine bags of maize in the school’s minibus.
A team of volunteers who apprehended the drivers on Thursday, October 30, revealed some students had blown an alarm on the syndicate carrying food out of the stores at night, which prompted their attention to keep monitoring the activities.
The driver, who was busted, named the bursar of the school as the one who had asked him to haul the items to her house.
They later went to the school bursar’s house, where some food items were allegedly found, including bags of rice, cooking oil, and tins of mackerel.
However, reports suggest the bursar escaped before the team got to her house, but later turned herself in to the police.
Alhassan Dokurugu, the Headmaster of NOBISCO, has expressed his disappointment, adding that the school management was working hard to project the school’s image others were giving the school such a bad image.
He added that the school management will cooperate with the necessary investigation.
