Kennedy Agyapong, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, has said he will build a hotel in the middle of the sea at Tema if he becomes president.
The lawmaker highlighted that Ghana is at the centre of the World, paricularly Tema which needs to be marketed to the World.
Speaking to delegates, Kennedy Agyapong stated, “Ghana is the centre of the World, and the centre of the world latitude and longitude is in Tema. We have to make noise about the Greenwich meridian at Tema. We have to market to Tema.
The first thing I will do, I have said it in Tema, I will say it again, I’m going to build a hotel in the middle of the sea at Tema where the Greenwich meridian meets”.
Some netizens reacting to Kennedy Agyapong’s remarks stated, “Hotel in the middle of the sea ke? After eight years of castles in the air, the NPP has now moved to resorts in the Atlantic. No wonder Ghanaians voted them out, governance isn’t SimCity”.
“Every day this man is talking about a different first thing he will do if he becomes president, last year he said he would bring musicians together to sing Micheal Jackson’s “we’re the world” now it a hotel in the middle of the ocean? Eiii”, a netizen added.
One X user added, “The National Cathedral, built on land, had a foundation that cost millions of dollars. Imagine the cost of building a hotel in the sea. Four years of revenue would vanish”.
“Would that be a private hotel or a state hotel? Why would you want to build a hotel in the sea? What need would that serve?”, a netizen quizzed.
Meanwhile, Kennedy Agyapong has said Dr Mahamudu Bawumia does not exist in his life.
According to the former Assin Central MP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is behind Abronye and co who have been insulting him.
Speaking on UTV, Kennedy Agyapong stated, “I can survive with anything; I do not have time for them, but that does not mean they have to rig the election. I believe in the structures, and I know all the Electoral Commission officials my opponents have engaged with. They plan to use the party’s internal security to humiliate anyone who comes close,”
“I do not have time for Bawumia; in my life, he doesn’t exist. What Abronye and co is doing, Bawumia is behind it, but I just don’t want to say anything; all those insulting me, he knows them, but I don’t want to say anything”.
He further recounted a prior incident at the residence of former President Nana Akufo-Addo.
The former lawmaker added, “Some time ago, something happened at the residence of former President Akufo-Addo. I mentioned a certain man’s name; there was nobody there when I left. The next day, it was posted on social media, but I do not have anything against anybody”.
When asked if he will campaign for Dr Bawumia or not if he emerges victorious, Kennedy Agyapong added, “Did I not campaign for him during the recent election? After that, did he even call me to appreciate my efforts? His followers were even insulting me. The only loyal person from his camp was NAPO. I took him to my warehouse and gave out items freely. He had young boys who claimed that I never campaigned”.
Kennedy Agyapong further revealed he does not listen to social media and the news as he remains focused on his goals.
“Do you know what helps me? I don’t listen to social media, I don’t listen to the news, I stay focused”, he added.
