Prof Benedicta Yayra Fosu-Mensah, Communication Team Member, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has warned the party that Ghanaians will not forgive them if the former finance minister is let off the hook.

The NDC communicator is quoted by Metro TV Ghana to have said, “Ghanaians will not forgive NDC if Ken Ofori-Atta is let off the hook”.

It will be recalled that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Kissi Agyebeng, declared Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive for failing to appear for interrogation into corruption-related investigations.

Ken Ofori Atta has been accused of causing financial loss to the state in several dealings, including the construction of the famous National Cathedral and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA’s) – Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML), Termination of a contract between the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited and Beijing Xiao Cheng Technology (BXC) for the Distribution and Ambulance Procurement: A Ministry of Health contract with Service Ghana Auto Group Limited.

Also, the OSP has since arraigned Ken Ofori-Atta and seven others in connection with the 78 charges filed against them in connection with the Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) revenue assurance contract with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

Additionally, Manasseh Azure Awuni, an Investigative journalist, has revealed that former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta had three visas when he left Ghana.

The Investigative journalist highlighted that Ken Ofori-Atta left Ghana on January 4, 2025 and had a valid visa to the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States.

Manasseh further detailed that the embattled Ken Ofori-Atta’s U.S. visa will expire on February 14, 2026, his UK Visa will expire on April 21, 2032, with his Canadian visa will also expire on May 31, 2031.

In a post shared on X by Manasseh Azure on November 24, 2025, read, “My investigation has also revealed that Ken Ofori-Atta, whose date of birth is November 7, 1959, left Ghana on January 4, 2025. He departed from Terminal 3 of Kotoka International Airport and travelled on United Airlines Flight 997 to Washington, D.C., in the United States.

Ken Ofori-Atta travelled on a Ghanaian passport and has valid visas to the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States.

Ken Ofori-Atta’s U.S. visa will expire on February 14, 2026, about three months from now. His UK Visa will expire on April 21, 2032, and his Canadian visa will expire on May 31, 2031”.

Meanwhile, the Office of the immediate past president of Ghana has said Akufo-Addo is concern of the fate of his cousin and former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.

According to the Office of the former President, Akufo-Addo is personally concern of Ken Ofori-Atta’s fate but will not interfere with the rule of law.

Akufo-Addo’s office further dismissed media reports which suggest he is seeking safe passage for his cousin and former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, from President John Mahama, labelling the media reports a “total fabrication”.
