Kojo Adu Asare, a former Member of Parliament for Adenta, has publicly expressed interest in marrying Odo Broni, the widow of the late Daddy Lumba.
According to Kojo Adu Asare, Odo Broni is a very beautiful woman, adding that he would be interested in pursuing a romantic relationship with her.
The former MP highlighted that he is currently unmarried and would only consider marriage after she completes her traditional widowhood rites.
He added that if Odo Broni decides to get into another relationship after her traditional rites he would be a suitable candidate.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM on December 17, 2025, Kojo Asare stated, “Odo Broni is an exceptionally beautiful woman. I admire her, especially her calm and gentle nature. I feel drawn to her and would like to pursue a meaningful relationship with her after she completes her widowhood rites”.
He, however, disclosed that his desire to marry Odo Broni is to assist her in raising her six children and contribute.
“It’s not about marrying her to have children together; rather, I want to help raise her six children and also preserve Daddy Lumba’s legacy,” he stated.
Kojo Adu Asare also criticised those who have attacked Odo Broni amid her public disagreement with Daddy Lumba’s first wife, Akosua Serwaa.
He added that the insults directed at Odo Broni were unfair.
The Kumasi High Court had earlier declared Akosua Serwaah Fosuh and Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni, as the surviving spouses of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba.
The court presided over by Justice Dorinda Smith‑Arthur ruled that Akosua Serwaa cannot be declared the sole surviving spouse, as the evidence she provided did not affirm her claims.
During proceedings on Friday, November 28, evidence showed Odo Broni was customarily married to Daddy Lumba before his passing.
The court also highlighted that Akosua Serwaa was customarily married to Daddy Lumba, but rejected her alleged German marriage certificate presented as it was not an original certificate.
The court ruled that both Akosua Serwaa and Odo Broni are recognised as surviving wives of Daddy Lumba and must be acknowledged by the Abusuapanyin in the performance of the widowhood rites.
The plaintiff, Akosua Serwaa Fosu, was seeking a court declaration that she is the only surviving wife of the late musician, allowing her to have exclusive authority to carry out all widowhood rituals.
She was also demanding that the court restrain Odo Broni from falsely claiming to be the late singer’s wife.
Meanwhile, Daddy Lumba died at the Bank Hospital in Cantonments on July 26, 2025, following an illness.
His final funeral rites were held on December 13, 2025, at Heroes Park in Kumasi, after months of back and forth between his family members.
The late music icon’s funeral was attended by Daddy Lumba’s children, his younger sister Faustina Fosu, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, and his second wife, Odo Broni, who were there to pay their last respects.
However, Akosua Serwaa, the first wife and his elder sister, Ernestina Fosu, close associate Papa Shee, and some family members were absent after their failed attempt to secure an injunction against the funeral, amid an ongoing dispute over the burial arrangements.
Several prominent figures, including Nana Acheampong, Dr Osei Kwame Despite, Dr Ernest Ofori Sarpong, Kennedy Agyapong (Kenpong), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, and Dr Frank Amoakohene, also attended the burial.
