Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, has said the party plans to go after the Nsawam/Adoagyiri parliamentary seat being held by Frank Annoh-Dompreh.
According to Mustapha Gbande, the NDC is determined to legally challenge parliamentary seats it believes were unfairly taken by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Gbande revealed that once the court proceedings relating to the Kpandia constituency are concluded, the NDC will target the Nsawam/Adoagyiri seat.
The NDC man alleged that the Nsawam/Adoagyiri election was compromised by Annoh-Dompreh, who engaged in actions that undermined the integrity of the electoral process.
Speaking on UTV, Mustapha Gbande stated, “When we are done with the court issue on Kpandia, we are going to follow up on the Annoh-Dompreh seat for a potential by-election”
“For Annoh-Dompreh, I was there, and everybody saw him on TV. He destroyed the election and manoeuvred to win, so we will go there,” he stated.
He added, “All the places that they rigged the election, we will go there, Suhum, Tolon. Even for Tolon, his issue is already in court”.
Gbande further dismissed claims that the NDC’s actions are not aimed at weakening the NPP, adding that the party’s objective is to seek redress through the courts.
“Nobody should accuse the NDC of trying to collapse the NPP. Everywhere that they cheated us, we will follow up and seek re-election,” Gbande added.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has ordered the Electoral Commission (EC) to halt all proceedings and activities leading to the conduct of the Kpandai parliamentary rerun.
The court directed the EC to suspend all proceedings pending the final determination of a case before the court.
The Supreme Court decision puts a hold on preparations by the EC for the rerun election until the legal issues surrounding the matter are fully resolved.
In court, the Supreme Court adjourned proceedings to January 13, 2026, this is to allow for further consideration of the issues raised by the parties involved.
In Court, counsel for the applicant, Gary Nimako Marfo, told the court that the NDC candidate Daniel Nsala Wakpal had not been served with the judicial review application.
He therefore requests the court to allow substituted service.
A five-member panel, presided over by Justice Pwamang, with Justices Kulendi, Tanko, Samuel Asiedu, and Henry Kwofie, granted the request.
The Supreme Court ordered that service on the NDC candidate be effected within seven days, after which service would be deemed effective.
Mathew Nyindam, in his application, argued that the Tamale High Court erred in assuming jurisdiction over the election petition filed by the NDC candidate Daniel Nsala Wakpal.
He is seeking judicial review to quash the High Court’s judgment, together with all processes and proceedings following the court decision.
It will be recalled that the Tamale High Court, on November 24, 2025, ordered the rerun of the Kpandai parliamentary election within 30 days.
The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) had earlier announced that the Kpandai Parliamentary election rerun will be held on Tuesday, December 30.
