Edward Senam Azaliko, an Assembly Member for Effiakuma West and Martin Amuzu have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service.
The two have been arrested after forcing a 13-year-old girl & 16-year boy to have sex in Effiakuma while people cheered and filmed.
Reports suggest the female victim is now with Social Welfare.
Additionally, a third suspect, Isaac Nana Osei, who is alleged to have filmed the incident, is on the run and is wanted by the Police.
In a post shared by Ghana Police read, “TWO ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH EFFIAKUMA VIRAL VIDEO.
The Western Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects captured in a viral video physically assaulting two teenagers, a male and female aged 13 and 17 years, and forcing them to have sexual intercourse”.
The suspects, Edward Azalekor, 52 years, and Martin Amuzu, 35, who is an uncle to the female victim, were arrested on Thursday, 26th February, 2026, at Effiakuma, following a WhatsApp video received from a presenter at Connect FM. In the video, which has since gone viral, the suspects were seen forcing the two teenagers to have sexual intercourse in a shop in the full glare of others who were cheering, laughing, and filming the act.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the female had left home in the afternoon of 16th February, 2026, without informing the mother and returned later in the night at about 7:40pm.
Her mother became annoyed and informed suspect Edward Azalekor, Assemblyman for Effiakuma West Electoral Area, to discipline her.
The suspects then lured the teenage boy to the scene and forced him to have sexual intercourse with the girl for them to see.
The accused persons were put before the Harbour District Court at Takoradi today, Friday, 27th February, 2026, and they were granted bail in the sum of GHC 20,000.00 each, to reappear on Thursday, 5th March, 2026”.
The development follows news that Edward Senam Azaliko, an Assembly Member for Effiakuma West, has been captured in a viral video ordering two teenagers he caught in a compromising situation to complete the act.
According to reports, the Assembly Member for Effiakuma West, after catching the two teenagers, age Girl 13 and Boy 16, decided to punish them by ordering them to have sex.
Reports suggest that the Assembly Member took the two teenagers to an uncompleted building and ordered them to have sex as a form of “punishment”.
In the viral video, the Assembly member was seen bringing out a belt and threatening the two teenagers to engage in the sexual act, or he would beat them up.
The young boy was then seen in the video being forced to insert his manhood into the girl.
The Assembly Member and other individuals who were at the scene, yet to be identified, looked on with some, recording the act with their mobile phones.
The Assemblyman, while whipping the boy, was heard saying, “You think you are smart, take off your shorts, and do it early before I let you go. You, too (referring to the teenage female), take off your dress and open your legs for him. Do it, else I will use the belt on you. Do it, and kiss him as well. If she says it has entered, I’ll stop beating you, but if not, you’ll be beaten till the next day. ”
The Assembly Member, after the incident, when contacted, admitted the role he played in the viral video,
However, claimed his action was to punish them for engaging in a relationship.
“My actions were to punish them for engaging in a relationship at such tender ages”, the Assembly Member claimed.
Meanwhile, the incident has since been reported to the Police for further action.
