Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister of Finance, has taken a commanding lead in the NDC flagbearer race to succeed President John Dramani Mahama.

According to the latest poll by Global Info Analytics, Dr Ato Forson has taken an early lead in the NDC flagbearer race.

In the poll shared by Mussa Dankwah, the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, 32 per cent of voters prefer Dr Ato Forson as the presidential candidate of the NDC ahead of the 2028 general election.

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the NDC, is the finance minister’s closest contender, with 25 per cent.

Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister of Education, received 23 per cent of voters saying he should represent the NDC in the 2028 presidential elections.

However, Vice President Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman received 14 per cent of the votes, with only 5 per cent of voters saying they preferred other candidates.

In a post shared by Mussa Dankwah on X, he wrote, “Dr Ato Forson takes the lead in the NDC race, Asiedu Nketia gains, but Haruna Iddrisu slips to 3rd position with Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang in distance 4th according to the March 2026 National Tracking poll by @GlobaInfoPolls”.

Also, the Global Info Analytics also shared a head-to-head race with Dr Ato Forson leading in a head-to-head against Asiedu Nketia and also Haruna Iddrisu.

However, an earlier survey by Global InfoAnalytics had revealed that Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister for Education, is still in the lead as the preferred candidate to succeed President John Mahama for the NDC.

The Global InfoAnalytics poll shows Haruna Iddrisu in a lead with 29.8 per cent, while NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia secured 24.1%, and Finance Minister Ato Forson, who garnered 18.4% support.

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah is also in fourth with 10.3%, while Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa came fifth with 8.1%.

Other contenders Eric Opoku recorded 2.5%, Prof. Joshua Alabi 2.2%, and Armah Kofi-Buah 2.0%.

Kwame Awuah Darko (1.6%), Spio Garbrah (1.1%), and Okoe Vanderpuye (0.1%)  were at the bottom of the poll as the least preferred candidates to succeed John Mahama.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian Prophet Telvin Adjei Sowah has prophesied that the current finance minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, will become Ghana’s president for 11 years.

According to Prophet Telvin Adjei Sowah, in the 2028 election, only three people can become president.

The man of God named Joshua Alabi, Ato Forson, and Asiedu Nketia as the only three people who can become president in 2028.

He further disclosed that Ato Forson will emerge as running mate along the line and later serve as Vice President following the election victory.

Prophet Telvin Adjei Sowah further revealed that during Ato Forson’s time as Vice President, the sitting President will hand over power to him on September 19, allowing him to lead the country for a total of 11 years.

Speaking on Accra FM, Prophet Telvin Adjei Sowah stated, “There are only three people that can become president in 2028: Joshua Alabi, Ato Forson, and Asiedu Nketia”.

“Among the three, Joshua Alabi is a dormant figure. Asiedu Nketia activated him and woke him up from the background. Ato Forson is an anomaly in the timeline which is for 2028.

The first president has to run the presidency for the first four years, and then win in 2032 during 2032 he will be appointed the running mate, and officially, once that person is in power, he will run the presidency up to September 19, and he will give up the presidency to Ato Forson”.

The man of God further added, “Ato Forson will become president for 11 good years in Ghana, our beloved country.

Some Ghanaians reacting to the Global InfoAnalytics poll stated, “The way Ato Forson will flog Bawumia in the presidential election, only God can save him. A better manager of the economy will win hands down”.

“It just takes one global financial crisis to wipe out Ato Forson’s lead. As for Haruna, his quick-tempered jump into some key test social issues has dampened him massively ( asking NDC members to apologise to Annor Dompreh and Wesley girls’ school)”, a netizen added.

Another Ghanaian added, “Hon. Ato Forson name came into the NDC presidential candidate race because of his performance at the finance ministry. Hard work pays.

I prefer him because it will be economist vs economist in 2028. That will be interesting”.

One more Ghanaian added, “Ato to Forson the Economist is far better than Bawumia. Ato Forson applies the mixture of theory & common sense to manage the economy. He would never pick the Ghana card over 1000 interchanges. Bawumia’s economic prowess is hollow & unproductive. Fact: Bawumia is not fit for President”.
