“QNET is not a Ponzi or an investment scheme” – Bola Ray declares

0

Renowned media personality Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray, has said QNET does not operate as a Ponzi or investment scheme.

Bola Ray has been officially unveiled as a QNET Agent and Spokesperson in Ghana.

According to Bola Ray, QNET is a global lifestyle and wellness-focused direct selling company which does not deal as a travel agency nor does it offer scholarships.

Speaking at the event, Bola Ray stated, “I stand before you today, with immense excitement as I officially join the QNet family. This moment is not just a professional milestone for me; it is a dream come true and also a commitment to contribute to a reputable organisation.

Qnet is a global wellness and lifestyle company focused on direct selling, and they are there for the people”.

He further added, “We operate transparently and ethically, as you heard the deputy chairman say. Like many multinational companies, we face some challenges from scammers who misuse our name and brand for their fraudulent activities.

I have heard and read many posts with people offering fake jobs, scholarships, travel services and a whole lot more, but let me be clear”,

Bola Ray boldly declared, “Q-Net is neither a travel agency nor does it offer scholarships or operate as a Ponzi or investment scheme”.

“We are committed to building a future where direct selling is respected and ethical. My friends in the media, it is essential that we help the public verify claims before associating them with our name,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has rescued 110 victims of a suspected Qnet scam.

The Qnet scam operation was operating in Kuntunse Satellite in the Greater Accra Region.

The 110 victims include Cameroonian and Ivorian nationals, were reportedly lured into the country with promises of lucrative employment opportunities.

The victims have since been taken into protective custody as investigations continue to identify the perpetrators.

According to the Police, the suspects used Qnet as a cover to recruit and exploit unsuspecting individuals from other West African countries.

The Police CID further assured Ghanaians of their commitment to intensifying the fight against human trafficking and transnational scam operations.

“Our enemy is NDC; It is regrettable, Bryan Acheampong says he will not help Wontumi” – Paul Yandoh

0

Paul Kwabena Yandoh, the Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed his disappointment with Bryan Acheampong for allegedly refusing to assist in securing bail for Chairman Wontumi..

According to Yandoh, Bryan Acheampong has allegedly refused to secure bail for Chairman Wontumi, as he did when he was arrested by EOCO.

Paul Yandoh reminded the Member of Parliament for Abetifi that their shared enemy is the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and not NPP members.

Speaking to the media at the High Court on October 9, 2025, Paul Yandoh stated, “It shouldn’t have come to this because our common enemy is the NDC, not ourselves. It is unfortunate. As NPP members, we should support one another.

I have heard Bryan Acheampong say he won’t help bail Wontumi, and I think that’s unfortunate. Maybe one day, when I am rich, I can also help him if he finds himself in trouble, because no condition is permanent. We need to stand by each other”,  he added.

However, Lead counsel Andy Appiah-Kubi for the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has revealed his client has met all his bail conditions.

Wontumi’s lawyer revealed his client is still in custody due to processing delays by state institutions.

Speaking in an interview on Joy News, Appiah-Kubi explained, “We have met all the bail conditions, but the processing of the order is what is delaying it. The execution requires verification of the properties and confirmation of their valuation, and those are handled by state institutions”.

“I’m told it has now been identified and the report is being sent to the registrar of the court”, he noted.

Andy Appiah-Kubi, in an earlier interview, had disclosed that the court granted Wontumi bail, but the process could not be completed before the close of the day yesterday, Tuesday.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, lead counsel Andy Appiah-Kubi stated, “We made an application for bail on Tuesday, and the court granted it with three sureties, two to be justified. We are processing the application, and by God’s grace, we have had people to sign the bail bond and stand as sureties”

“It was late after the court proceedings, so we couldn’t complete the process with the police and the court registrar. This morning, the police prosecutor, ASP Godwin, called to inform me that his men are ready to inspect the properties of the sureties so we can expedite the process,” he explained.

He added, “I really appreciate the effort of the police prosecutor for calling me to inform me they are ready. This is rare. I must also commend the court registrar, who is coincidentally also called Gordon, for his effort to expedite the process”

“I am very hopeful the processes will be finalised today, and Wontumi will be released,” he added.

Wontumi on Tuesday, October 7, was granted a ₵25 million bail by the Criminal Division of the Accra High Court in connection with two separate cases relating to alleged illegal mining.

Ken No. 1, Bawumia No. 3, here is a list of ballot positions of NPP flagbearer aspirants

0

Kennedy Agyapong, the former Assin Central MP, has picked the number one spot in the  New Patriotic Party (NPP) ballot position ahead of the presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026.

Dr Bryan Acheampong, former Minister of Agriculture, picked the second position, with former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia picking the third slot.

Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the former education minister and former General Secretary of the party, Kwabena Agyepong, picked the fourth and fifth positions.

The balloting was held at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Friday, October 10, 2025.

The balloting was conducted by the party’s National Elections Committee (NEC).

The NPP will hold its presidential primary on January 31, 2026.

Meanwhile, the Communications Director of Kwabena Agyepong’s campaign team, Paul Abdul Rahman Issah Dowuona, has said they are still in the race despite controversy surrounding the payment of the GH₵4 million development fee.

Speaking on Channel One TV, Paul Abdul Rahman Issah Dowuona stated, “The issue regarding this GH₵4 million payment — he has made it clear that in principle he is against it. The party has made its point, and they are saying that they have to pay that amount.

At vetting, he was asked, and he made his position clear, and even at the vetting, he committed that if it were about a development fee, he would commit to contribute substantially to the development of the party when the need arises. His issue has always been that it shouldn’t be a prerequisite for contesting the flagbearership of the party.”

He further added, “Whatever it is, we are dealing with it internally, and so as far as you have not heard anything from the party officially that he has been taken out of the flagbearership race, it means that we are still in it. We are not going to make a view and cry about it in public. Whatever the issue, we will litigate and place it in the internal mechanism of the party”.

“As it stands, take it from me, as the director of communication, that we are still in the race. Tomorrow, God willing, we are going to go for our balloting,” he indicated.

Meanwhile, Mussa Dankwa, the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, has said Kennedy Agyapong and other contenders face a daunting task to catch up with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to Mussa Dankwa, it is still not over, but it is highly unlikely that every undecided voter will go to one candidate.

He highlighted that Dr Bawumia’s advantage will be difficult to overturn.

Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on Monday, September 29, Mussa Dankwa stated, “It is still not over. I won’t say it is over, but if you look at where the leading candidate is, it is highly unlikely that every undecided voter will go to one candidate”.

“We believe that Kennedy has to do a lot more to bring Dr Bawumia down, or his other competitors should do a lot more in order to drag Dr Bawumia from where he is,” he added.

Mussa Dankwa’s remarks come following a latest poll by the Global Info Analytics, which reveals Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President, has taken a commanding lead in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries.

The poll results published on social media platforms by the Global Info Analytics revealed that Dr Bawumia secured 47 per cent of delegate support and is the clear front-runner ahead of the NPP’s primaries.

Dr Bawumia continues to enjoy the confidence of nearly half of the delegates surveyed.

Kennedy Agyapong, the former Assin Central legislator, emerged second with 17 per cent of delegates’ support.

Dr Bryan Acheampong secured only 3 per cent of delegates’ votes, while Dr Yaw Adutwum and Ing Kwabena Agyapong secured 1 per cent of delegates’ votes respectively.

GTEC strikes again, goes after Ken Ashigbey for using an invalid ‘Dr’ title

0

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Kenneth Ashigbey, has been told by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to immediately stop using the title “Dr”.

According to GTEC, Kenneth Ashigbey’s doctoral certificate from the Swiss Management Centre (SMC) is invalid.

GTEC, in a statement issued on Friday, October 10, 2025, and signed by its Director General, Prof. Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, revealed the decision follows a petition it received challenging the legitimacy of Mr Ashigbey’s Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree.

They revealed preliminary check confirmed that Mr Ashigbey had obtained a DBA from the Swiss Management Centre; however, after reviewing the documents, GTEC identified discrepancies between the certificate and the transcript.

According to GTEC, the certificate was issued by the Swiss Management Centre (SMC), and the transcript bore the name Swiss Management Centre (SMC) University.

It further revealed that checks on the institution’s official website as of October 10, 2025, showed that it is currently referred to only as Swiss Management Centre.

GTEC added that it finds it unusual that the transcript, issued later on January 15, 2020, included the word “University,” which was not reflected on the certificate.

The statement read, “In view of the above, and in accordance with Section 7(i) of the Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020 (Act 1023)—which mandates the Commission as the sole state authority to evaluate and authenticate both local and foreign qualifications—the GTEC deems your Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) certificate from the Swiss Management Centre (SMC) invalid”.

They further ordered, Ken Ashigbey provide verifiable proof that the “Dr.” has been removed from all official and professional materials.

Also, Dr Richard Kofi Asiedu, the Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has replied to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) after it stripped him of using the title “Doctor”.

The NDC Regional Chairman emphasised that he has never faked any degree, as his academic journey is well documented.

According to him, GTEC is deliberately attempting to damage his reputation.

In related news, the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has backed the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission’s (GTEC ) efforts to regulate the growing development of individuals flaunting honorary doctorate degrees and fraudulent academic certificates.

According to UTAG, Academic titles must be earned, not purchased.

UTAG, in a press release, expressed concern about the abuse and misrepresentation of such titles.

UTAG statement stated, “Academic titles must be earned, not purchased, and their use must reflect the high standards of scholarship and service they represent”.

“UTAG fully supports the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) in its efforts to regulate, monitor, and, where necessary, sanction individuals and organisations involved in the proliferation and misuse of fake academic titles,” the statement added.

UTAG press release follows the ongoing dispute between the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah.

“Abrego Garcia cannot be deported to Ghana” – Ablakwa tells US authorities

0

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, has shut down reports suggesting the United States plans to deport a Salvadoran national, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, to Ghana.

According to Ablakwa, Ghana is not accepting Abrego Garcia.

He boldly added that Ghana’s stand has been directly and unambiguously conveyed to US authorities.

In a social media post, Ablakwa wrote, “Ghana is not accepting Abrego Garcia.

He cannot be deported to Ghana.

This has been directly and unambiguously conveyed to US authorities”.

He further added, “In my interactions with US officials, I made clear that our understanding to accept a limited number of non-criminal West Africans, purely on the grounds of African solidarity and humanitarian principles, would not be expanded.

Ghana strongly objects to these misleading media reports”.

Ablakwa’s post comes after the Department of Homeland Security said it now plans to deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Ghana.

Reports had claimed the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had informed Abrego Garcia’s attorneys of its intention to deport him to Ghana.

A U.S. court filing, DHS had previously considered deporting Abrego Garcia to Eswatini and Uganda.

After he was wrongfully deported to El Salvador, and later returned to the United States.

The information gathered suggests Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran native, was living in Maryland with his wife and children and was deported in March to El Salvador’s CECOT mega-prison.

He was deported despite a 2019 court order barring his removal to that country due to credible fears of persecution.

The deportation was justified on allegations that he was a member of the criminal gang MS-13; however, his family and lawyers have consistently denied this allegation.

He was later returned to the U.S. in June to face human smuggling charges in Tennessee, where he pleaded not guilty.

After being released into his brother’s custody pending trial, Abrego Garcia was re-arrested by immigration authorities, who again initiated deportation proceedings.

Meanwhile, an immigration judge recently denied a proposition by his attorneys to reopen his case.

“Stop apologizing to Ghanaians – Gabby Otchere Darko tells NPP members

0

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, has called on members of the NPP to stop feeling sorry for themselves.

According to Gabby Otchere-Darko, the NPP must not wallow in sorrow but must be bold in defending what they did in government under former President Akufo-Addo.

The NPP man cautioned that members indulging in self-pity could dampen and weaken their resolve ahead of the 2028 elections.

Speaking at an event for some NPP members abroad, Gabby Otchere-Darko stated, “Stop feeling sorry because sometimes, if you are not careful and you feel too sorry for yourself, you begin to lose confidence in yourself. You must be bolder in defending what you did, you must be humble in accepting where you fell short, and you must have the confidence enough to say in spite of this and that, I can tell you I built more roads than any government that has spent the number of time I spent in office.

I can tell you I did more for health, agriculture, education, military, the police, I did more for so many areas. You can say all that because the facts are there”.

Gabby added,  “Have the humility to accept that there were some omissions and commissions that could have been done better or differently. But don’t wallow in sorrow, if you wallow in sorrow, you will go down or stay where you are”.

He further added former Akufo-Addo government did not snub the Ashanti region,  “I heard somebody saying in the Ashanti Region that we let Ashantis down because we didn’t fix their roads. NPP let Ashantis down because they didn’t have flyovers. But I had been in meetings where MPs from the Ashanti region had said that they did not need flyovers, but they want their community roads done, and in politics, you are supposed to give people what they say they want, not what you think they want.

They wanted their community roads, and when you look at the number of roads that were done in Ashanti per capita across the country, you can’t say NPP let Ashanti Region down. Yet an NPP person was apologising for disappointing the Ashantis for neglecting the Ashanti region”.

Meanwhile, Eugene Boakye Antwi, the former member of parliament for Subin, has said the former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta told them in a caucus meeting in parliament that elections are not won win roads.

The former Subin MP refuted claims made by Gabby Otchere-Darko regarding Ashanti region MPs and their road choices.

Speaking on Nhyira FM, Eugene Boakye Antwi stated, “When it gets to a point, NPP members want to put themselves in trouble. If you say this, and someone else goes to explain. You people have been bringing up the issues. I was an MP. What he is saying, I know he is not being truthful.

If you want the truth, the NPP members listened to me when we had a caucus meeting in parliament, when Ken Ofori-Atta came, he looked into our faces, the MPs and told us that we don’t use roads to win elections”.

He added, “You can call any MP who was in the room. We went to a caucus meeting, all the MPs in Ghana met in the parliament house. He told us we don’t use roads to win elections.

They should let sleeping dogs sleep. When some of us hear these things when you speak and you are not being truthful, we will come and explain it”.

GWCL disconnects Prophet Nigel Gaisie’s Church over GH¢6,900 debt and illegal connection

0

The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has disconnected the church of Prophet Nigel Gaisie, the Prophetic Hill Church, from its water supply.

According to reports, Nigel Gaisie’s church was disconnected due to unpaid debts and an illegal connection.

Reports suggest, the Prophetic Hill Church owe an outstanding debt of GH¢6,900.

The GWCL in the past months have been embarking on a revenue mobilisation exercise to reduce its commercial water losses.

According to the GWCL, it has uncovered commercial water losses valued at more than GH¢4.4 million in just six weeks.

In August and September 2025, the National Revenue Enhancement Teams (NRET) inspected customer accounts across Accra East, Kaneshie-Awudome, Weija, Baatsona, Tema Central, Dome, Darkuman-Gbawe, Sowutuom, and Odorkor.

The GWCL investigations uncovered 109 customers engaged in illegal practices, resulting in charges totalling GH¢4.4 million.

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians reacted to the development, saying, “Even the prophets need to render unto GWCL what is GWCL’s. GH₵6,900 and an illegal connection? Looks like divine intervention couldn’t keep the taps running this time”.

“After all the money he collected from innocent church members… Sia”, another netizen wrote.

In related news,  Nana Yaa Jantuah, a Board Member of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), has highlighted that the Commission must balance the interests of both consumers and utilities.

According to Nana Yaa Jantuah, there must be a win-win situation in the PURC utility tariff adjustments.

Speaking on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, on a proposal from the ECG and GWL, Nana Yaa Jantuah stated, “The cost of energy is expensive, so we need to keep the lights on. We must ensure that energy is available for industry, for the economy to run, and to guarantee consumer comfort.

“The quality of service is key, but we also have a very difficult job—to ensure improved service delivery while keeping the utilities financially viable. Ultimately, we must find a win-win situation,” she said.

The PURC comment comes following Ghana Water Limited (GWL) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), each seeking more than a 200% increase in utility tariffs to meet rising operational costs.

The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has proposed a jump in water tariff from GH¢5.28 per cubic metre to GH¢20.09 per cubic metre, which is a 281 per cent increase.

Wontumi has met all bail conditions but remains in custody due to processing delays – Lawyer

Lead counsel Andy Appiah-Kubi for the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has revealed his client has met all his bail conditions.

Chairman Wontumi and the Operations Manager of Akonta Mining Company Limited were granted bail in the sum of GHC10 million with two sureties.

The two sureties, one must be justified with proof of landed property.

Wontumi and Akonta Mining have been accused of destroying 13 hectares of land in the Tano Nimiri forest.

The NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman pleaded not guilty to all seven charges levelled against him.

Chairman Wontumi was slapped with seven fresh charges, which stem from his alleged mining in Tano Nimire Forest Reserve in the Western Region.

The charges come barely after he appeared in a separate case.

In this case, Wontumi and four others associated with his Akonta Mining Company Limited are facing the accusations of unlawfully engaging in mining operations, environmental destruction.

Additionally, the Accra High Court has granted Wontumi a ₵15 million bail with three sureties in a separate case.

According to the court, Wontumi’s sureties must be justified with landed properties.

The presiding judge, Justice Audrey Kocuvie-Tay, granted Wontumi bail on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, after hearing arguments from Wontumi’s lawyer, Andy Appiah-Kubi, and the Deputy Attorney General, Dr Justice Srem-Sai.

Andy Appiah-Kubi urged the court to grant bail, insisting that his client posed no flight risk; however, Dr Srem-Sai, who did not oppose, called on the court to impose stringent conditions given the gravity of the charges.

He argued, “Gold mining is a capital-intensive business, and by their own admission, the accused is a man of substance. It is common knowledge that persons of substance are often greater flight risks”.

Wontumi was granted a GHC 15 million bail bond, three sureties, two of whom must justify with landed property within the court’s jurisdiction.

He is also to deposit all passports with the court registrar; he has also been placed on the Ghana immigration stop list at all entry and exit points.

Also, Wontumi must report to investigators on the first and third Monday of every month.

The Accra High Court gave the prosecution three weeks to file disclosures.

Meanwhile, the next hearing is scheduled for October 28, 2025.

President Mahama is the best onion farmer in Ghana – Agric Minister

0

Eric Opoku, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, has said President John Mahama is the best onion farmer in Ghana.

The Agric Minister praised President Mahama for his contribution to Ghana’s agricultural sector.

Eric Opoku revealed that Mahama owns one of the largest onion farms in the country.

According to him, it has become challenging to find enough labourers to work during harvest seasons.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo programme, Eric Opoku stated, “President John Dramani Mahama, there is no one in Ghana who can farm more onions than him, and I am yet to see someone who can beat him on that record. I am saying it on authority”.

“He has the biggest onion farm, and it even became difficult to get labourers to work on the farm for harvesting, so we had to eventually go for machines.

He is also involved in animal rearing, cow farming, rice farming, and various types of farming. All his brothers and siblings are also into farming”, Opoku added.

The Agric Minister further urged Ghanaian youth to take inspiration from President Mahama and venture into agriculture as a viable source of employment.

“So, if you are a young boy or girl without a job, go into agriculture”, he advised.

In related news, Eric Opoku, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, has said middlemen are to blame for the high food prices in urban areas.

According to the Agric Minister, middlemen between the farmers and the urban area buy cheaply from farmers and sell at ‘throat-cutting’ prices to the consumers.

Eric Opoku highlighted that farmers are currently selling food crops at lower prices than at the start of harvest season.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Eric Opoku explained, “When you go to the production point, the farmers are complaining that they were selling a truck of yams at GH¢7,000. When they started harvesting, it came down to GH¢4,000, and it is now hovering around GH¢3,000 and GH¢2,000 at the farm gate”.

Eric Opoku added, “We have some people also posing as middlemen between the farmers and urban areas, and they are engaging in profiteering, trying to enjoy abnormal profit. They buy cheaply from the farmers and sell at ‘throat-cutting’ prices to the consumers. The prices are better than before”.

“When you get to the mall, some of the food items are imported, and the prices cannot be compared to those in the local market now because the local ones are now cheaper than the imported ones,” he stressed.

He further added, “We, as a government, have decided to produce to feed Ghanaians; they must reciprocate our gesture by eating Ghana for us”.

Also, the Minister of Food and Agriculture credited Ghana’s bumper harvest across the country to the Mahama government’s Feed Ghana Programme.

Eric Opoku added, “The farmers in many parts of the country are complaining that they have produced in quantities beyond the market there, and they are not getting buyers. In Asunafo South, the youth who participated in the Feed Ghana Programme came to me and said that they have been harvesting the rice in quantities, and they are looking for a market.

“So, it is not the case that these are isolated cases. What is happening now is a nationwide bumper harvest that Ghana is experiencing,” he said.

The Agric Minister explained, “We launched the Feed Ghana Programme. The first leg of that programme is to campaign for mass participation in the programme. We campaigned that individual households must have backyard gardens, and SHS must have school farms.

“From the beginning of the campaign up to today, we have on record that 129 SHS are participating. We also campaigned for church and faith-based organisations to enter the programme. We have records of churches, and we have some records that have directed their branches with fertile lands to participate in the programme. Even state agencies are participating,” he noted

“If justice doesn’t go our way, we know what to do” – Family of murdered Immigration Officer

0

A family member of the slain immigration officer, Stephen King Amoah, has warned that the family will take matters into their own hands if justice doesn’t go their way.

A female relative of the slain immigration officer during the court appearance on Thursday, October 9, 2025, expressed her outrage.

The family member vowed that those involved in the heinous crime will not go unpunished.

Speaking to the media, the family member of Stephen King Amoah stated, “If justice doesn’t go our way, we know what to do. As for Bright and what he has done, he will not go scot free. He must and will suffer, as well as anyone else who is involved.

With what he did, he has disgraced and tarnished the image of our relative because we couldn’t even open his casket for people to file past and pay their last respects, despite his stature.

“How can you kill, butcher and burn him? We should have given the dead body to him [Bright] to consume, and maybe we would have been satisfied. And we will see if he could have stayed alive,” she fumed.

She also expressed frustration over the continuous adjournments of the case, indicating that the delays are deepening their pain.

According to her, some travel from the Ashanti Region to Accra for every hearing.

Meanwhile, in court, the case has been postponed yet again to October 22, as prosecutors wait for a forensic report before forwarding the docket to the Attorney-General’s office.

Also, details of how the murder of Immigration Officer Stephen Amoah at the residence of the main suspect have emerged.

According to reports, Bright Aweh, the prime suspect, allegedly orchestrated the killing of immigration officer Stephen King Amoah with chilling precision.

Ghana Chronicles in a post on X on August 26, 2025, detailed, “Bright Aweh, the prime suspect, lived with his wife in a storey building. On the morning of the incident, he sent his wife on an errand, ensuring she was out of the house.

To clear the compound, Bright told his upstairs neighbour, who was leaving for work, not to return early because he planned to fumigate due to a “funny smell.”

When the neighbour offered to chip in for fumigation chemicals, Bright refused, insisting he’d handle it alone, raising suspicions about his true intentions.

Bright also confronted another neighbour about their CCTV facing his compound. The neighbour claimed it was faulty, but later installed a 360° camera that recorded three motorbikes entering Bright’s house before Amoah arrived. Their purpose remains a mystery”.

The further narrated, “Stephen Amoah, the victim, told his nephew he was visiting Bright to collect money owed to him. Tragically, he entered the house and never came out alive.

Later, Bright’s car was seen leaving the compound, its contents unknown, adding to the growing list of suspicious activities.

Disturbingly, WhatsApp messages were sent from Stephen’s phone after the incident, claiming, “I have received the money, my wife is not around, so today I am going to chase girls,” suggesting an attempt to mislead investigators.

Following Bright’s arrest, a second suspect, Thomas Zigah (AKA Nii Jaase), was apprehended. A third suspect was also detained but has since died under unclear circumstances.

The calculated moves by Bright—clearing the house, deflecting neighbours, and the mysterious motorbikes—point to a meticulously planned crime. What drove him to such lengths? The investigation continues”.

“If you are stealing state money, Nsawam is one destination” – Auditor-General warns

0

The Auditor-General Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu has backed President John Dramani Mahama’s plans for officials found culpable of financial losses to the state to be jailed.

According to Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, if public officials are stealing state money, Nsawam Prison should be one destination for them.

Speaking to TV3 on October 9, 2025, Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu stated, “It’s been a challenge for a long time. I think the president has stepped in, you know, as the head of state, just to take action. Instead of just talking, and talking…”, the Auditor-General noted.

“I believe that the president is desirous of bringing this canker to an end”, he said.

“… our laws establish the punishment for every offence… If you are stealing state money… I believe there are a lot of laws that will determine where you go from there. And one of the destinations is in Nsawam, as His Excellency mentioned,” he explained.

“Now, the tune is set from the top. There will be strong support for the president’s stance,” he added.

Also, John Mahama expressed deep concern over the persistent recklessness and scale of financial irregularities uncovered each year at the Public Accounts Committee sittings.

According to John Mahama, it is so pathetic watching Public Accounts Committee (PAC) hearings.

Speaking at the 12th Annual Conference of Chairpersons of Governing Boards and Chief Executives of Public Services in Ho on Wednesday, October 8, John Mahama lamented, “Recently, I’ve been watching the Public Accounts Committee, and it’s so pathetic, you know. Why must we every year congregate at the Public Accounts Committee, and then you hear all kinds of atrocious, you know, things? I mean, recklessness with public funds and resources.

“And so, I have a meeting on Thursday with the Chief Justice, the Attorney General, and others to find a final solution to this Auditor-General’s report. Those persons who infringe, are found guilty of infractions, or do not follow due procedure, or lead to loss of public resources — we must have a fast-track process,” he said.

John Mahama further cried out that, despite the constitutional provisions guiding the implementation of audit recommendations, very little has been achieved.

He explained, “We’ve not fully implemented the constitutional provision. There is a part that says after the Public Accounts Committee has sat on the Auditor-General’s report, Parliament must set up a committee to implement the findings”.

“What we don’t know is whether it should be a parliamentary committee or one made up of non-parliamentarians.”

“Every department is supposed to set up an ARIC, but once they’ve come from the Public Accounts Committee, virtually nobody follows up on the recommendations,” he said.

President Mahama added, “The audit reports implementation committees are not working. We must find a way to create a deterrent, until people know they can be held responsible for these things they do.”

“If we save GH¢15 billion, can you imagine what it could do? We must hold those who misuse the people’s resources to account so that others do not follow suit.”

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Abena Osei-Asare, has revealed that the committee, with the help of the Auditor-General, has been able to recover over GH¢12.9 billion in misappropriated public funds.

According to Abena Osei-Asare, accountability remains a key priority.

Speaking on Wednesday, October 1, Abena Osei-Asare stated, “One thing I am clear about is that what we are doing is yielding positive results. We have a report we will look at.

Per the work of the Public Accounts Committee, and with the support of the Auditor-General, we have been able to retrieve GH¢12.9 billion. There is a whole report on that which we will be sharing with the public at the right time,” she said.

PAC in the last weeks have been engaging officials from various ministries, departments, and agencies to address infractions captured in the Auditor-General’s Report of 2024.

The Committee is expected to resume its next sittings on October 27, 2025.

“I intend to test this matter” – Dafeamekpor threatens legal action over GAF enlistment age limit

0

Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Majority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for South Dayi, has threatened legal action against the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) if they fail to review the maximum age requirement for enlistment.

According to Dafeamekpor, the current age cap should be aligned with the National Youth Authority Act, 2016 (Act 939).

Speaking on Eyewitness News on Thursday, October 9, 2025, Dafeamekpor argued, “I intend to test this matter because, you see, we need to test systems to let systems work. And when systems are supposed to work, they must work within the existing legal framework. We must all obey the law”.

“I won’t have any problem if the armed forces say that the person between the ages of 15 years and 35 years is eligible to apply, but subject to a medical fitness test, because in a lot of countries, persons below 18 years are eligible to be recruited into the army, subject to parental consent,” he noted.

He further explained, “So this matter must be tested; if the army resists this call, it may leave me with no option but to seek a remedy in the judicial forum. Our army is constitutionally established and given effect to it under Article 102 by Parliament, and subsequently with legislation such as the National Youth Authority Act, which is the law that governs the youth bracket of this country, whether the army can continue to conduct its business without recourse to this laid down legislation”.

Meanwhile, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has told Sam George and Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor to go and read and stop the uninformed populist agenda.

In a post on a social media page, Ntim Fordjour wrote, “Hon Dafeamekpor and those who want to make Ghana Armed Forces dumping grounds for unqualified aged NDC foot soldiers, be guided.

Go and read and stop your uninformed populist agenda because it has woefully backfired. Otherwise, if the intention is to turn your unqualified party footsoldiers against your government, that’s your own cup of tea.

If your Principals sent you to test the waters, by now they’ve picked the reaction that Ghana will resist your vile political attempt to lower GAF recruitment standards”.

He highlighted that if Dafeamekpor and Sam George only read and paid attention to GAF recruitment, they would realise that qualified persons 30-35 years old are eligible to apply for enlistment.

The MP added, “If you only read and paid attention to GAF recruitment and enlistment requirements, you would have realised that qualified persons 30-35 years old are eligible to apply for enlistment into relevant regiments and brigades in Ghana. This practice has been there for years – has nothing to do with your populist calls.

If only you read, you would discover in the Section F of the Armed Forces advertisement published, that the age limit is 30yrs for that particular section of recruits. Check the various age limits. This your one age fits all agenda is backward and dangerous!

Add to your reading the median age of Ghana, and you will know it is 21.3 years, if you understand what that means”.

Ntim Fordjour had earlier told Sam George and Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor that the Ghana Armed Forces is not a dumping ground for overage NDC foot soldiers.

He noted that the two NDC MPs’ calls for a review age restriction for military enlistment as an attempt to allow average NDC foot soldiers into the military.

According to him, the NPP will resist every attempt by the NDC to load their overage foot soldiers into the Ghana Armed Forces.

In a social media post, Rev Ntim Fordjour wrote, “Hon Sam George and Hon Dafeamekpor’s call for unqualified overage NDC foot soldiers into the military is a misconceived and misguided populist agenda.

We will resist every attempt by NDC to load their overage foot soldiers into Ghana Armed Forces. Ghana Armed Forces is not a dumping ground for overage NDC foot soldiers”.

Ntim Fordjour added, “NDC Cabinet Ministers and Parliamentary Leadership must be made to know that it is extremely backward and dangerous to force unqualified people into the military as a reward for party patronage”.

He further cautioned the NDC government to stop interfering in the professional recruitment process of GAF.

“Stop the undue interference in the creditable and professional recruitment process underway by the Ghana Armed Forces”, he concluded.

Kwabena Agyepong against GH₵4m development fee, but … – Campaign team

0

Paul Abdul Rahman Issah Dowuona, the Communications Director of Kwabena Agyepong’s campaign team, has said the former General Secretary is against the party’s GH₵4 million development fee.

According to Paul Abdul Rahman Issah Dowuona, despite controversy surrounding the payment of the GH₵4 million development fee, Kwabena Agyepong is still in the race.

He emphasised that the GH₵4 million development fee should not be a prerequisite for contesting the party’s flagbearership.

Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer aspirants will today, Friday, October 10, 2025, ballot for their positions on the ballot paper ahead of the presidential primary on January 31, 2026.

The NPP’s National Elections Committee is expected to meet the five aspirants or their representatives at the party’s headquarters in Accra.

According to the Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Haruna Mohammed, balloting would be held for all aspirants.

Haruna Mohammed, on Thursday, October 9, 2025, stated, “All candidates who have met the guidelines, as issued on July 29, and complied with them, will be balloting today. Nobody is going to be excused from any specific guideline of the party”.

“These guidelines are grounded in the constitution, and every member who wants to lead the party into the 2028 elections must abide by it,” he added.

Meanwhile, Samuel Atta Akyea, a former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, has stated that any New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant who cannot raise the party’s development fee of GH¢4million is not even influential.

According to him, any aspirant who struggles to pay the party’s development fee is not fit to contest for the presidency.

Atta Akyea emphasised that a candidate’s inability to pay the GH¢4 million fee is a sign of a lack of influence and credibility.

Speaking in an interview on TV3 on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, Atta Akyea stated, “If you are in opposition, you will raise money, so it is a sensible way to raise money.

If a man says he is credible and people should vote for him as a flagbearer, and he can’t raise GH¢4 million, that means he doesn’t count; he is not even influential. Who is telling you that you are the one going to pay the money?” he said.

The NPP’s GH¢4 million development fee on presidential aspirants has sparked widespread criticism and raised questions about the party’s democratic principles.

However, the poll revealed that a significant number of delegates, 27 per cent, remain undecided.

Also, the poll revealed  57 per cent of Ghanaians prefer former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the next general election.

“AG and his team disappointing Ghanaians” – Solomon Owusu

0

Senior Communicator for the Movement for Change, Solomon Owusu, has said the Attorney-General and his team are disappointing Ghanaians.

Solomon Owusu criticised the John Mahama government’s stalled Operation Recover All Loot activities.

Speaking on TV3 News Day on Wednesday, 8 October, Solomon Owusu stated, “Daniel Domelevo is on point to say Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) has delayed”.

He added, “Attorney-General and his team are disappointing Ghanaians”.

His comments follow: Daniel Domelovo, the former Auditor-General and a member of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team, fuming over the lack of prosecutions so far under the John Mahama government.

Domelevo painted a grim picture of the Attorney General’s procedure in the ORAL cases as snail speed, as he cannot see the tunnel, let alone talk about the light.

According to Daniel Domelovo, nine months is not a small thing, emphasising that before Ghanaians realised that President John Mahama would be done with the quarter.

The former Auditor-General noted that culprits and their lawyers are praying for a change in government.

Speaking in an interview, Daniel Domelevo stated, “With the briefing that the Attorney General has been giving, a lot of work is going on, but am I satisfied? No. I can’t see the end of the tunnel, not to talk of the light at the end of the tunnel”.

“The procedure currently being used is very slow. Nine months is not small. Before we realise, we’ll be done with the quarter.”

He added, “In fact, the prayer of the culprits and their lawyers is that there should be a change in government. Then you hear nolle prosequi, then our money is gone.

It begs one question: were they prepared before coming to office? Because when I look at the quantum of money we should recover and the snail speed at which we are moving, I wonder when we are going to get there,” he lamented.

He further added, “I think we have to change the speed at which we are moving and let people gain the confidence that things are moving and moving very fast. We need to change the legal framework.

If the government refuses to make these changes, it only tells me that either they are doing the same thing, they are also stealing, or they have the intention of stealing”.

Also, Kofi Bentil, a private legal practitioner, has said that the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) was overhyped and it is under-delivering.

According to Kofi Bentil, despite his criticism of ORAL performance, he maintains his support for the overall goal of fighting corruption.

Speaking on The Key Points on TV3, Saturday, September 27, Kofi Bentil stated, “ORAL was overhyped and it is under-delivering. But I support the call to fight corruption”.

On February 10, 2025, the ORAL team submitted their final report to President John Mahama, who has since directed the Attorney General for further actions.

The chairman of Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) and Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa revealed that with just 36 cases, Ghana can potentially recover $ 20.49 billion in stolen state resources.

Meanwhile, Kenneth Kwabena Agyei Kuranchie, the Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Searchlight newspaper, has filed a writ at the Supreme Court challenging the legality of the Mahama government’s Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL).

Landlord busted for selling house to galamseyers for GH₵800,000

0

A landlord at Osino Zongo in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern Region has been busted for selling his residential property to illegal miners (galamseyers).

The landlord, a middle-aged man, was arrested alongside three accomplices on Tuesday, October 7.

They were arrested following a joint operation led by Mercy Korang, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Fanteakwa South, and the National Security.

According to reports, the team, after a tip-off, stormed the compound, catching the suspects red-handed underground mining using washing equipment and other tools.

Investigation revealed, the landlord sold his four-bedroom house for GH₵800,000 to the illegal miners.

The illegal miners later disguised their operations as well-digging, but were later found out as their wells were later discovered to be underground pits used for gold extraction.

Some residents have raised an alarm that several houses in the area have already been damaged or demolished to make way for galamsey activities.

The suspects are now in police custody at Osino.

The DCE of the area, Madam Korang, described the development as troubling, stating, “This act of selling homes for illegal mining is destroying our communities from within. We will not allow such recklessness to continue”.

Meanwhile, the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) Task Force has rounded up several illegal gold miners (galamseyers) at the Cape Three Points forest reserve.

According to reports, NAIMOS stormed the Cape Three Points forest reserve and arrested several galamseyers and also destroyed mining equipment and drugs.

The galamseyers’ makeshift structures were also burnt.

This follows NAIMOS’ operation on illegal miners (galamsey) in the Western North and Western Regions.

NAIMOS arrested two Chinese nationals and intercepted several Burkinabè workers in separate anti-galamsey operations.

Additionally, NAIMOS stormed a notorious galamsey hideout named ‘Gangway’ at Aboso in the Western Region.

According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of Government Communication, the operation was carried out on Monday, October 5, 2025.

In a post on X, he wrote, “The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) Task Force has carried out a significant operation in the Western Region, targeting notorious galamsey hideouts.

On Monday, October 5, 2025, the Task Force stormed “Gangway,” a crime-infested community in Aboso, Prestea-Huni Valley District.

-Makeshift Structures Destroyed*: Several makeshift structures serving as hideouts and drug bases were set ablaze, and galamsey equipment was destroyed.

-Hundreds Surrender: Several hundred locals, mostly galamseyers, surrendered to the Task Force. These individuals were involved in various social vices, including illegal mining, trading, and narcotics smoking, as well as gambling.

-Drugs Seized- Eleven parcels of Indian Hemp were seized, alongside other hard drugs.

– Previous Warnings Ignored: This operation follows a similar one in June 2025, where NAIMOS warned criminal gangs and galamseyers to vacate the area. Despite this, the warnings were ignored.

“Ken Ofori Atta told us we don’t use roads to win elections” – Former NPP MP recounts

0

Eugene Boakye Antwi, the former member of parliament for Subin, has said the former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta told them in a caucus meeting in parliament that elections are not won win roads.

Eugene Boakye Antwi’s comments come following New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, following his recent comment regarding some NPP Ashanti Region MPs.

It will be recalled that Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has said the former Akufo-Addo government did not snub the Ashanti region.

According to Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, Members of Parliament in the Ashanti Region demanded that their community roads be fixed instead of providing them with flyovers.

He revealed he was shocked that an Ashanti region MP apologised to the people for neglecting them because the NPP government had not constructed flyovers.

Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, while addressing NPP party faithful, said, “I heard somebody saying in the Ashanti Region that we let Ashantis down because we didn’t fix their roads.

He continued, “Now if you want to win in 2028, and this is your attitude, that you have accepted that you did not do well. There is a difference between humility and knocking yourselves down. You can show humility. Maybe you expected more from us, and we are sorry that we couldn’t deliver all that you expected.

How is 2028 going to be your best chance? How can you go and convince Ghanaians that I’ve failed you, but bring me back to power? You must be bolder in defending what you did, you must be humble in accepting where you fell short, and you must have the confidence to say that in spite of this and that I can tell you that I have built more roads than any government that has spent the number of times that I have spent in office”.

Meanwhile, Captain Smart has fired New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko.

Captain Smart emphasised that no sensible person would say this in public.

According to Captain Smart, Gabby’s statements are a disgrace to the party, because the Ashanti region is the NPP’s stronghold.

Speaking on Accra FM, Captain Smart stated, “You have the effrontery to tell the whole world that the Ashanti MPs said to you that the people of the Ashanti region do not like development.

“Does that mean that the Ashanti MPs do not like development in the Ashanti region? I am pleading with John Mahama to undertake a project there so we can determine for ourselves whether the NPP MPs truly dislike development. Even if they don’t like development, Otumfuo and the people of the Ashanti region want development”, he said.

He further added, “Gabby Otchere-Darko has no sense. He has gone to school for nothing. Is he supposed to say such a thing for the public to hear? Your party is fighting for 41.8% to win the election in 2028. Look at what he is doing. Any sensible person will not say this in public”.

“How can you be selling Yesu Mogya in church?” – Captain Smart quizzes Adom Kyei-Duah

0

Godsbrain Smart Nkansah, popularly known as Captain Smart, has quizzed Prophet Stephen Adom Kyei Duah, the founder of Believers Worship Centre, on why he will be selling Yesu Mogya in church.

Captain Smart noted that Adom Kyei Duah is exploiting his congregation for profit by selling ‘Yesu Mogya’ in church.

He highlighted that the man of God is doing business in his church and must be taxed by the government.

Captain Smart further recounted how a woman who was suffering from high blood pressure abandoned her prescribed medication to rely on ‘Yesu Mogya’ for miraculous healing.

According to Captain Smart, if he were president, such acts would not be tolerated.

He argued that religious leaders who profit from their congregations under the guise of spirituality should be held accountable.

Speaking on his show Onua Maakye, Captain Smart stated, “Physically, Adom Kyei-Duah is older than me, but spiritually, he knows I’m older. How can you be selling Yesu Mogya in church? There’s a woman I knew who was a BP patient. Instead of her taking her medicine, she was taking Yesu Mogya.

“If I were president of Ghana, this nonsense wouldn’t be allowed. Nobody would be able to sell oil in church. If a pastor sold ‘Yesu Mogya’ during services, I would treat it like a business and make them pay tax,” Captain Smart stated.

In related news, Ghanaian gospel artiste Diana Asamoah has fired shots at Prophet Adom Kyei-Duah, the Leader of the Believers Worship Centre.

According to Diana Asamoah, Adom Kyei-Duah is an anti-Christ, and by 2028, his church will collapse.

She further claimed Adom Kyei-Duah isn’t a true man of God.

Diana Asamoah accused the leader of the Philadelphia Movement of selling concoctions to his followers at exorbitant prices.

The gospel singer further talked about Adom Kyei-Duah’s earlier comment that the NPP would not win the 2028 election due to her utterances.

She claimed Adom Kyei-Duah is powerless, and his church will collapse by 2028.

In a video shared on social media, Diana Asamoah stated, “Listen to me, you anti-Christ, I am going to let you know that whatever you are doing is all anti-Christ spirits. I have seen what you have been doing. You have been arresting pastors in this country. I want to tell you that I am ready for you”.

“By 2028, your church will collapse. You have already informed us that your ministry is not a church, but a movement; therefore, it will likely collapse by 2028. Members of the NPP shouldn’t be scared by his words”, she added.

Meanwhile, the Voice of Philadelphia is set to give accreditation to some foreign media for its upcoming 31st Night 2025 at the City of Philadelphia.

According to the voice of Philadelphia, Al Jazeera, BBC, Sky News, and CNN will be given accreditation to broadcast their 31st Night.

They also revealed that local media houses and bloggers will be given accreditation.

“Gabby Otchere-Darko has no sense; he went to school for nothing” – Captain Smart

0

Captain Smart has fired heavy missiles at New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, following his recent comment regarding some NPP Ashanti Region MPs.

Reacting to his comments, Captain Smart fired that Gabby Otchere-Darko has no sense.

He emphasised that no sensible person would say this in public.

Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for Effiduase/Asokore, Dr Nana Ayew Afriye, has refuted the claims made by Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko.

Dr Nana Ayew Afriye noted that no such meeting had ever taken place where the MPs stated they did not need a flyover.

“Gabby O. Darko, I never set my eyes on you from 2017 up until August 2025. When & where was this meeting on Ashanti development?” the MP wrote.

“Go and read and stop your uninformed populist agenda” – Ntim Fordjour fires Dafeamekpor and Sam George

0

Rev John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has told Sam George and Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor to go and read and stop the uninformed populist agenda.

Meanwhile, Sam Nartey George has told Rev John Ntim Fordjour that sometimes silence makes one appear wise and knowledgeable.

Sam George, in his post on X, wrote, “Sometimes, just sometimes, silence makes one appear wise and knowledgeable.

The logic espoused by my friend and colleague is so rich that I am lost for words. Let us celebrate the depth of his knowledge and the latitude of his wisdom”.

He added, “NDC footsoldiers only qualify to be footsoldiers once they are 28 years old, and those between 18 and 27 years are not Ghanaian enough to serve.

Massive respect to the NPP’s lead person on Defence and Interior. He is the best they have. They truly have the men”.

“Gov’t not introducing a new tax” – Sports Minister clarifies Sports levy

0

Kofi Adams, the Sports Minister, has clarified that the Sports levy being proposed by the government is seeking to allocate a percentage of existing levies to support sports development.

According to Kofi Adams, the Sports Fund is not entirely a new tax since it already exists on Ghana’s books.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express on October 8, Mr Adams clarified, “We are not introducing a tax. But since those already exist, we are putting some levies on them and taking a percentage of them. That’s all that we are going to do.”

“The bill that we have sent to Cabinet for approval, that is to be sent to Parliament, does not have any such provision of a new tax,” he emphasised.

Kofi Adams added, “If Parliament, in their wisdom, decides that they want to impose a tax to generate this fund, that will be Parliament’s decision, not what we are proposing now.

Well, I don’t know what the Finance Minister is going to do as far as taxation issues are concerned. Surely, he will take it to Parliament. If Parliament approves, fine.”

The Sports minister added, initial revenue from the Sports Fund may not be large but it will grow over time.

Kofi Adams added, “I know initially it will not be much. But as it drives on and we begin to capture a lot of data, it will go into millions.

“When something is good and is done badly, it becomes difficult to immediately change it and say that, because you are having these good intentions, let’s just drift it that way. It doesn’t work that way.”

“It would have been if, when they did that, it was being used for sports and not collecting it and using it for many other things that were unnecessary,” he argued.

He further outlined the purpose of the Sports Fund: “The Sports Fund will support sports infrastructure. It will support the growth of especially key sports areas. Football is one of them, and athletics. I love athletics so much, sitting here, but we have not funded it enough.”

“We have not funded it enough. How many tracks do we have? Many schools are still running on undulating pitches where you have to look where to step because there are so many holes in the tracks. There’s no way you can produce Olympic green athletes if you have such pitches.”

“It’s not going to be free money that you just come and take without accounting for any improvement,” he said.

Mr Adams concluded, “If you are supported, you have to prove that you have done something meaningful with the previous support before you qualify for another.”

“Look, the Anthony Joshuas and the rest that came here—it was out of the British Sports Fund that they created, that has supported athletes and created big-time boxers and world champions for them,” he said. “We can also do that again.”

It will be recalled, Kofi Adams announced that the John Mahama government will introduce a new Sports Levy.

Kofi Adams revealed the Sports Levy will soon be presented to Parliament when it reconvenes.

He explained that the levy forms part of the government’s plan to sustainably finance sports development nationwide, serving as the main funding source for the proposed Sports Development Fund.

Speaking in an interview with Citi FM, Kofi Adams stated, “The government is introducing a sports fund that will make us have a well-structured funding for sports. We do not have that currently, and because of it, our support for sporting activities has been very limited,” the minister explained.

“Young people qualify, they struggle, they go through all the processes, and yet we are unable to push them to participate in competitions. So, the government has decided to establish a sports fund,” he added.

“You can’t establish a fund without a levy. Every fund must have a form of levy that contributes into it.”

“Sometimes silence makes one appear wise and knowledgeable” – Sam George replies Ntim Fordjour

0

Sam Nartey George, the Communication Minister, has told Rev John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, that sometimes silence makes one appear wise and knowledgeable.

His remarks follow Rev Ntim Fordjour, who labelled the two NDC MPs, Sam George and Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, who called for a review in the age restriction for military enlistment, as an attempt to allow average NDC foot soldiers into the military.

We will resist every attempt by NDC to load their overage foot soldiers into the Ghana Armed Forces.

Also, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor labelled Rev. Ntim Fordjuor’s conclusion on the matter as a lousy one without engaging the issues.

In a social media post, he wrote, “Hon. Rev. Ntim Fordjuor, your conclusion in this matter is a lousy one without engaging the issues”.

He cited that the former NPP government also increased the Maximum Service years from 25 years to 30 years.

He added, “But let me ask you this: as the Ranking Member on the Defence & Interior Committee of Parliament now and as a Deputy Minister of State just last year, when your Npp Govt increased the Maximum Service years for the Other Ranks (Junior Officers) of the Ghana Armed Forces from 25yrs to 30yrs such that now they retire at 60yrs instead of 55yrs, was it to allow average Npp foot Soldiers to remain in the Army? Don’t be so unguarded.

The point is that I have meticulously provided data on how 20 different Armed Forces in other jurisdictions have transitioned and yet maintained military strength”.

Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor further emphasised, “I am only asking that the NPP Policy of having to extend the upper ceiling for years of service for Other Ranks from 25 years to 30 years be also applied to enlarge the ceiling for entry from 25 years to 30 years or more, subject to medical fitness”.

The Majority whip added, “I insist, subject to a medical fitness test though, that what a 25-year-old can do in training at Bundase, a medically fit 26-year-old can do the same or better at Achiase.

I maintain, again subject to a medical fitness clearance, that we have no regulatory or statutory justifications to tell a 26 or a 30-year-old Ghanaian SHS or Technical School Graduate that s/he cannot join the Ghana Armed Forces to perform non-combatant duties like a Cook, Haberdasher, Driver, Bandsman, Mechanic, etc.

So to Hon Ntim Fordjuor and the NPP, it is better to keep 56-60-year-olds in the Army than it is to intake 26-30yrs as Soldiers”.

GH₵12bn needed to employ 145,000 health, education professionals – Deputy Finance Minister

0

Thomas Nyarko Ampem, the Deputy Minister of Finance, has revealed that Ghana will need GH₵12 billion to employ 145,000 health, education professionals.

The Deputy Minister of Finance revealed that Ghana is facing a severe backlog of unemployed professionals in the health and education sectors.

Hon Ampem revealed that since 2019, Ghana has accumulated a backlog of 74,000 health professionals and 71,000 education professionals.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, Mr Ampem stated, “If you look at the health sector, every year from 2010 to date, about 26,000 professionals are trained, and out of that, only about 13,000 are recruited annually. Since 2019 to date, we have had a backlog of about 74,000 unemployed health professionals who are waiting to be recruited”.

Hon Ampem further emphasised that the education sector faces similar challenges, with colleges of education and universities producing roughly 35,000 to 81,000 graduates yearly.

He explained, “There are about 14,000 of them who are not employed each year, and we have a backlog of about 71,000 unemployed education professionals”.

“If we put the 74,000 health professionals on the payroll, we will need an additional GH₵6 billion annually to absorb them — and another GH₵6 billion for the education sector. This is just for the backlog of professionals who have not been employed,” he noted.

He further noted the plight of over 12,000 workers who have been employed but remain unpaid, adding that steps are being taken to resolve the issue.

Also, Dr Rashid Pelpuo, the Employment and Labour Relations Minister, has said the former Akufo-Addo government recruited 12,000 new workers without financial clearance to pay them.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express on October stated, “This tells the story of what complaints we had when we assumed office. At the point of exit of the NPP government, they imposed on us 12,000 new workers that they did not prepare to pay. They didn’t have the money to pay them, but they employed them. And then they exited.

The three-month budgets which they had to prepare for, as we take over, didn’t take into consideration any of these. And so we came into office with no preparations to pay anybody.

All the people they had just newly employed did not have enough clearance, but they imposed them on the government, and then they left”.

He further recalled a similar situation in the past under President J.A. Kufuor when he was leaving office.

Dr Rashid Pelpuo added, “Remember when President J.A. Kufuor was leaving, what was imposed on us was the Single Spine Salary Structure, which Atta Mills had to struggle with. So it’s like their DNA to give the incoming government a problem — let them fail, and let the people say that they have failed.

“It’s not a good thing for us to be doing. Once your point of existence as a government comes to an end, go. The people had already rejected you. There’s nothing you can do to bring yourself back to power. You can’t recreate a future which has been lost.”

“We are working towards ending this problem of unpaid workers. We acknowledge the fact that young people need to start life and be comfortable working for what they have been employed to do.

So we are doing everything to make it possible that we solve this problem, maybe before the end of the year.”

Private citizen petitions Mahama to sack Acting CJ Baffoe-Bonnie

0

A private citizen, identified as Gbande Nabin Yussif has has petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to sack the yet to be sworn in Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie.

In a petition signed by Gbande Nabin Yussif on October 6, 2025, the private citizen is pleading with President Mahama to sack the acting chief justice on the grounds of misbehaviour.

He references comments made by Paul Baffoe-Bonnie following a lawsuit filed by Israel Tetteh, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamokpor, and a group calling itself the Ghana Law Society.

Parts of Gbande Nabin Yussif’s comments read, “I respectfully submit this petition for the removal of Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, a Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana and currently Acting Chief Justice, on the grounds of stated misbehaviour. Article 146(1) provides that: A Justice of the Superior Court or a Chairman of a Regional Tribunal shall not be removed from office except for stated misbehaviour or incompetence or on ground of inability to perform the functions of his office arising from infirmity of body or mind.”

“The conduct of Justice Baffoe-Bonnie, as set out below, constitutes stated misbehaviour because it breaches multiple provisions of the Judicial Code of Conduct for Judges and Magistrates of Ghana, and offends internationally recognised principles of judicial behaviour such as the Bangalore Principles of Judicial Conduct (2002).

“The Bangalore Principles of Judicial Conduct has been endorsed by the United Nations as part of the global standards for judicial ethics and has been recognised as an inspiring literature in drawing up Ghana’s Judicial Code of Conduct”, part of the petition reads.

The petitioner noted that the acting CJ’s statement is a breach of multiple provisions of Ghana’s Judicial Code.

“Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie’s conduct amounts to stated misbehaviour within the meaning of Article 146(1). His statements to a plaintiff in a pending constitutional case:

Breach multiple provisions of Ghana’s Judicial Code of Conduct, Contravene internationally recognised principles of judicial propriety,

independence, impartiality, integrity, and avoidance of conflicts of

interest, Undermine the authority and legitimacy of the judiciary, and

Severely damage public confidence in the administration of justice”,  the petition stated.

Meanwhile, President John Mahama has named His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie as the new Chief Justice of Ghana.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, September 23, by the Minister of Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

17 health facilities shut down nationwide by HeFRA

0

The Chief Executive Officer of Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA), Dr Winfred Baah, has announced that the agency has shut down 17 health facilities across Ghana.

The 17 health facilities have been shut down for operating without valid licences or under unsafe conditions that pose risks to public health.

According to HeFRA, the move is part of a nationwide inspection intended to identify and sanction facilities operating without proper authorisation or documentation.

HeFRA highlighted that operating outside the regulatory framework endangers lives.

Speaking at a media briefing, Dr Winfred Baah stated, “Some of these facilities have been particularly defiant. They’ve ignored administrative fines and failed to renew their licences. Once a facility becomes unlicensed, we cannot vouch for the competence of its staff or the safety of the equipment being used”.

“When that happens, we must step in to protect the public. HeFRA is currently restructuring to strengthen our ability to regulate health facilities effectively,” he added.

Dr Winfred Baah added that the agency is committed to upholding quality healthcare standards.

HeFRA  urged all health facility operators to adhere strictly to licensing and operational requirements.

The netizen recommended that MTN replace their voice prompt with a beep sound to let customers know they are out of airtime.

He further claimed he had a meeting with MTN about it, and they responded arrogantly, claiming there were more important things to worry about.

Speaking in a viral video, Kwaku September, “This video is for MTN to address minor concerns for us, the customers, who have been speaking about it for a while now, and I don’t know why they have turned a deaf ear to this.

I made a post where I told MTN Ghana that when there is one minute remaining, they spend about 30 seconds announcing it, and during the announcement, the other person’s voice goes completely off”.

He added, “During this voice prompt, which reminds us of the remaining minutes, it tells us to dial *506# to continue to purchase airtime during the call, but it still cuts off anyway”.

He further recounted some of the suggestions they gave MTN as customers: “Allow the airtime purchase during the call to roll over, and let the call continue seamlessly. Make the voice prompt shorter, so it does not consume most of the remaining time, and the best suggestion other people gave was just a beep sound”.

We don’t want a whole soloku, no, we don’t want that, and also when the beep sounds come on, you can actually bring a prompt”.

Kwaku September added, “They shouldn’t completely mute the call when they are giving the voice prompt. You should mute the other person’s voice, give a loud beep, so that we, the people speaking, will know that we have one minute remaining”.

The netizen further expressed frustration that all this was said, but to date all their proposal have been rejected.

He added that this will not cost a dime to make MTN customers happy.

His comments come following Sports journalist Saddick Adams, who also expressed the same concern by penning a letter to MTN Ghana about the same issue.

In a social media post, he wrote, “Dear MTN Ghana,

If I have one minute remaining, let me use it to finish saying what I want to say.

That “you can dial xabhdldkdkf” is needless. Esp on the radio

Don’t have to use one minute to remind me I have one minute remaining. I know how to recharge.

It’s irritating pleaaase!”

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have reacted, saying, “@MTNGhana won’t listen ….

What all the network has to stop is when I’m on another call, they should not gossip to the caller that the receiver is on another call…. Just allow the call..”

“Another irritating one is when you check your airtime balance, they send you message about the same balance you checked. Sia ly sei”, a netizen stated.

One more netizen added, “At least as the prompt dey warn me, make I hear what the other person dey talk. Them go mute your call for 20 seconds for the one minute wey lef nu.@MTNGhana I’m talking to you”.

Additionally, a netizen added, “Finally, someone said this @MTNGhana ,,, is so needless and annoying,,, kindly cancel that useless reminder”

You have a credibility crisis – Rosemond Obeng tackled over last-minute NPP, NDC switch

0

Grace Akosua Amoabeng, a Member of the  NPP Communications Team, has tackled Rosemond Obeng, a Presidential Staffer/Member, NDC Communications Team.

According to Grace Akosua Amoabeng, Rosemond Obeng has a credibility crisis after her last-minute switch from NPP to the NDC ahead of the 2024 elections,

Speaking on GHOne TV, Rosemond Obeng accused embattled Chairman Wontumi of being Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s financier in the 2024 elections.

However, Grace Akosua Amoabeng hits back, saying Rosemond Obeng could be here cooking up stories, as her credibility is questionable.

On the same show, the NPP communicator stated, “I think she was a bit rude. We are having a conversation, so you don’t speak when I am speaking. At least I have come here and we have had conversations, then you can prompt me that she is speaking, but she is doing that is rude.

I heard her say she knows Chairman Wontumi was the financier for Bawumia, which is false; a lot of people supported the party to go for the elections. You cannot sit here and say without any evidence or anything to show, and just sit on TV and say that Chairman Wontumi was coming to the campaign with sacks of money, that is false”.

Grace Akosua Amoabeng added, “The fact that you were there doesn’t mean you have information; it can even be that what you are saying is false. You were with them as a main core team member of the campaign, and then, within a few months of the elections, you switched to the other side.

So, why should we even sit here and trust what you are saying? It could be that you have even cooked up the story to come and tell Ghanaians. From the outside, your credibility is questionable because you cannot sit here and cook up a story and tell Ghanaians that you were on the other side. Why didn’t you stay on the other side? “

It must be noted that Rosemond Obeng was a former assistant to ex-NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and has since been appointed as a Senior Presidential Staffer by President John Mahama.

Rosemond Obeng, commonly known as “People’s Mother”, resigned from the NPP to join the NDC a few days before the December 2024 Election.

A few days before the December 2024 election, Rosemond Obeng launched a media campaign badmouthing her former boss after she defected to the then-opposition.

On GHOne’s “State of Affairs” program in late 2024, Rosemond Obeng stated, “We require crucial leadership, and I am aware that my father and former boss are unable to provide it. We get bad results, output, and performance from bad leadership”.

Meanwhile, in 2022, Rosemond Obeng posted on social media how his boss, Dr Mahamudu  Bawumia, helped her to pursue further studies and expressed appreciation to him.

“Otto Addo has been lucky, but there are still concerns” – Sports Minister

0

Sports Minister Kofi Adams has once again cast doubt on Black Stars coach Otto Addo following Ghana’s 5-0 victory over the Central African Republic in Morocco.

According to Kofi Adams, coach Otto Addo has been very lucky, but there are still concerns about his performance.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express on Wednesday, Kofi Adams stated, “Well, he has been lucky, but there are still concerns”.

“Well, concerns that he himself most times when we meet, he will admit maybe I should have done a substitution, or I should have urged them on, or I should have fielded this person to play this role.

“And so there are concerns. But I must say he’s been lucky. It doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t improve. I can’t say that he’s totally incompetent. I can’t use the word incompetence on him because, first and foremost, I’m not a coach. I’m only a minister who loves the game and who analyses it”.

Kofi Adams added, “If I had been a coach before, other coaches could describe whether he’s competent or not, but I’m not a coach, so I will not say so. But I am not satisfied. That’s all that I’m seeking to say.”

“Yes, he’s qualified, but I know I have sat on some hooks and nails and things that were pointing me to get up in the past. I’ve had to get up to use the washroom a number of times by force”.

When asked if Otto Addo is the right man to lead Ghana to the World Cup, Kofi Adams stated, “Well, I can’t answer that question now. If I answer the question now, then I will be kind of creating a situation. Maybe you have some people who say they want another person, and you have others who say they want him.

“Then, if I answered this question now, I would have been creating a problem. We still have games ahead of us. There’s a game we haven’t finished.”

He further revealed that the Sport Minister does not decide Otto Ado’s fate, “The minister doesn’t take those decisions. The minister will receive briefings. The minister will analyse the briefings. The minister will not take that decision alone. There’s a federation that we have handed over our national team to manage, which is the Ghana Football Association.

“They have a role to play, and so I cannot sit here when we haven’t had that conversation to be talking about whether we are retaining or dismissing the coach. I can’t go into that realm.”

“Well, there are decisions to be made every day, including even who plays and who doesn’t play. There are decisions to be made in the coaching, nutrition, and physiotherapy departments.”

Kofi Adams’ comments come following the Black Stars on the brink of qualifying for the World Cup after beating the Central African Republic in Morocco by 5 goals to nil.

The Black Stars are just one point away from qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In a separate interview, Kofi Adams has said he is not impressed with the performance of  Black Stars coach Otto Addo.

The Sports Minister asserted that if he says he is impressed with the performance of Otto Addo, then he does not know his work.

According to Kofi Adams, he is dissatisfied with Ghana’s inconsistent displays in the ongoing World Cup qualifiers.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Kofi Adams stated, “Very soon, AFCON is going to start in Morocco. Are we going to be part of it? No, we will watch on TV. We have not even qualified for the World Cup yet. We still need a win and at least a draw to comfortably say that, as far as our group is concerned, nobody can overtake us”.

“If I tell you I am impressed, then it means I do not know my job. I am not. There is a lot of room for improvement. Even when you meet the coach himself, he admits that he got things wrong and takes responsibility. But the question is: for how long will you continue to take blame for wrong decisions?” he asked.

Mahama meets CJ, AG, others to find ‘final solution’ on persistent mismanagement of public funds

0

President John Dramani Mahama has revealed he is meeting the Chief Justice, the Attorney General, and other key stakeholders on Thursday, October 9, to find a final solution on the persistent mismanagement of public funds highlighted in Auditor-General reports.

John Mahama expressed deep concern over the persistent recklessness and scale of financial irregularities uncovered each year at the Public Accounts Committee sittings.

John Mahama further cried out that despite the constitutional provisions guiding the implementation of audit recommendations, very little has been achieved

In related PAC news, the management of the Tamale Teaching Hospital has been exposed for validating and paying a dead man for 26 months.

Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in Accra on Monday, September 29, the Tamale Teaching Hospital management was fingered for validating and paying a dead man for 26 months.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of parliament has quizzed the management of Tamale Teaching Hospital over some financial irregularities at the hospital.

Ranking Member Samuel Atta-Mills of PAC quizzed the Tamale Teaching Hospital management on whether they had not attended the deceased staff member’s funeral.

Speaking at the Public Accounts Committee hearing, Samuel Atta-Mills quizzed, “Habib Napare – date of separation was 2022. This guy had died. Didn’t you go to the funeral? And you validated this dead person for 26 months? And now you are coming to tell Parliament to do what?” Atta-Mills asked sharply”.

“We depend on our wives and menial jobs to survive” – YEA staff cry out over unpaid salaries

0

A Youth Employment Agency (YEA) staff members have cried out over their unpaid salary for 10 months.

According to YEA staff, about 300 of them depend on their wives and menial jobs to survive, as they have not been paid for 10 months.

He revealed that after their official work, some of them for construction works and others ride riding okada to survive.

Speaking at a news conference in Kumasi on Wednesday, October 8, they appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to intervene in their situation.

Osei Yaw Akoto, the convener for the group, stated, “Mr President, please hear our cry and save us and our families from further starvation”.

The YEA staff revealed they were permanently employed in November 2024 after receiving clearance from the Public Service Commission and the Ministry of Finance, and were posted, but have since not received any salaries.

They further claimed that the YEA CEO revealed that their mechanisation was valid in a Zoom meeting in February 2025, but said an audit would be conducted to address concerns of unqualified staff.

According to them, they are starving, with some unable to feed their families, pay school fees, or sustain their marriages.

They further cited cases of colleagues suffering strokes and one nearly attempting to commit suicide due to the situation.

The YEA staff described their situation as a human rights issue and accused management of deliberately frustrating them.

Meanwhile, the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), in a statement, has denied allegations of owing some 300 of its staff 10-month salary delays.

Suadique Musah, Director of Corporate Affairs, in a statement, clarified that all legitimate employees on YEA YEA-approved payroll have been paid from February to September 2025.

The statement added that Chief Executive Officer Malik Basintale inherited the existing payroll approved by the YEA Board when he assumed office in February 2025, adding that no verified employee has been excluded from salary payments.

The YEA statement read, “The attention of the Management of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has been drawn to reports circulating in the media alleging that about 300 staff of the Agency across the country have not been paid their salaries for ten (10) months. The Agency wishes to set the record straight and provide clarity on the matter as follows;

It is important to note that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of YEA, Mr Malik Basintale, assumed office in February 2025. It is therefore factually inaccurate for any group to allege that the CEO has failed to pay them for ten months, when he has been in office for only eight months”.

The statement further added, “Upon assumption of office, the CEO inherited the existing payroll, which was presented to the Board of YEA and duly approved. Since February 2025, all staff members captured on the official payroll have been paid consistently up to September 2025. No individual whose name was duly verified and approved has been left out of the payroll

In keeping with transparency, management undertook a comprehensive staff audit earlier this year to ensure that only legitimate employees are maintained on the payroll. This exercise, far from being punitive, was to protect the integrity of the Agency and safeguard public funds. All staff who participated in the audit have been paid accordingly and continue to receive their entitlements”.

The statement further clarified that “certain categories of staff had their contracts expire prior to the CEO’s assumption of office. In such cases, management directed that they reapply for renewal through their respective directors. Those whose contracts were renewed have since been placed on the payroll”.

The Youth Employment Agency assures the public and all stakeholders that the Agency remains committed to protecting the interests of its staff, ensuring accountability, and delivering on its mandate to create sustainable employment for Ghanaian youth”.

US-based Ghanaian woman decomposed body discovered in her apartment in Ohio

0

Gertrude Cindy Amaniangpong, a Ghanaian woman based in the United States of America, has been found dead in her apartment in Ohio.

According to reports, the deceased was discovered by American police three weeks after her death, with her body already decomposing on her bed.

Reports suggest the late Gertrude was a former member of The Maker’s House Chapel in Accra and had recently completed her Master’s degree in the US.

Popular US-based YouTuber and blogger De God Son TV stated, “The Ghanaian lady, between 32 and 34 years old, was a very beautiful girl. For the past three weeks, she had been dead on her bed and decomposing in Ohio without anyone’s knowledge. She didn’t have a husband or a child, and I have cried today. She recently completed her Master’s degree in the US.

“She needed someone to talk to, but couldn’t. From what we gathered, she was going through some challenges”.

He added, “She is called Gertrude Cindy Amaniangpong. We have made several calls to her friends and to Ghana because we learned she fellowshipped with The Maker’s House Chapel.

“We have also spoken to some people…and one man who used to visit her frequently. However, he claims he doesn’t know any of her family members. The police want to speak to someone”.

Kumawood actress Yaa Nicky reportedly at the scene with De God Son TV, said they decided to contact the police after not hearing from Gertrude for a while.

“Akantuomunsem, I went to check up on her this morning. I was feeling uneasy when I got to her door. I went to the leasing office, and we involved the police. We opened the door, entered, and found out she had died a couple of weeks ago. RIP, Getty,” Yaa Nicky said.

Meanwhile, the Ghanaian community in the United States has been struck with grief following reports of the discovery of the decomposing remains of a Ghanaian woman, identified as Getty, inside her home.

Following the incident, police authorities reported to the scene and removed the body for further investigations into the tragic discovery.

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have reacted to the news, saying, Such heartbreaking news.  No one deserves to leave this world unnoticed like that. May her soul rest in peace, and may this serve as a wake-up call for our Ghanaian communities abroad to check in on one another more often.”

Another stated, “There’s no better place for Ghanaians than Ghana ooo but our system is unfavourable atm…sad life”

One more netizen added, “Depression is a real issue that is taking more lives abroad than poverty. By now her family thinks their daughter is overseas, struggling to find a better life”.

A netizen added, “The Ghanaian community needs to learn how to contact 911 for wellness checks on people showing unusual communication behaviours. This situation is becoming overwhelming”.

Additionally, a netizen advised, “Do not be a loner! Get a roommate or someone who will check on you frequently. It will even save you money. Our people will take up 2-3 jobs so they can rent an apartment alone. Build a big house in Ghana for some useless family member to live in.  All to go like this”

“Ken Agyapong’s bodyguard orchestrated my second arrest” – Abronye

0

Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has accused Kennedy Agyapong’s bodyguard of orchestrating his second arrest on October 8, 2025.

According to Abronye, the bodyguard reportedly petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to use his platform to insult his boss, Kennedy Agyapong.

Speaking on his Ohia TV show on October 8, 2025, Abronye detailed, “I went to the police station as usual, per the court order, and I was told to write my charge statement.

In less than 20 minutes, I wrote it and was waiting for them to release me. But I saw some police officers come to arrest me again for the same offence that I had earlier been remanded for”.

He added, “This time, it was Seth Sewornu who was the complainant. The day I went to the police headquarters and got remanded, Hon Kennedy Agyapong’s bodyguard brought a petition to Seth Sewornu.

He came to greet me because he knows me. Today, the same bodyguard who brought the petition that I used my platform to insult Kennedy Agyapong has brought another petition, claiming I have used the platform to insult Seth Sewornu. So, today’s charges, Kennedy Agyapong’s bodyguard is behind them”.

Abronye further revealed that he was detained for nine hours and was later granted bail of ₵1 million.

He recounted, “They detained me from morning, around 9 A.M., till 5:30 P.M. in the evening before I was granted bail of ₵1 million”.

He further detailed that Yaw Adjei Sarkodie and Moses Abbor stood surety for his bail, together with Poyoo, a former member of the Security Operations Unit at the Jubilee House.

Meanwhile, reports suggest Abronye has been re-arrested and charged with two new criminal counts. The court has granted him bail set at GH¢1 million with two sureties for the offences related to false publication and insulting conduct.

This marks the second time in three weeks that Abronye has been arrested.

It will be recalled, Abronye was arrested on Monday, September 8, by the Ghana Police Service, based on what the police described as “offensive conduct conducive to the breach of public peace”.

Before his arrest, he had sought political asylum and security protection over threats on his life by government operatives and IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno and his boys.

Abronye was granted bail of the sum of GH¢50,000 with one surety, without justification.

Meanwhile,  Abronye DC has confidently declared that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government cannot silence him because of his mouth.

Abronye, on his Ohia TV show, has detailed his ordeal with the Ghana Police Service.

According to Abronye, the Police suspected some government officials were leaking information to him and wanted to seize his phone.

He revealed that the Police demanded his mobile phones to scan and search for the sources of evidence and allegations.

Abronye also revealed that the Police questioned him about two companies he owned and some fifteen houses they allegedly claimed he owned.

The NPP regional Chairman insisted that his arrest and prosecution would not silence him.

Speaking for the first time on the Ohia TV show, Abronye, “The NDC government cannot silence me because of my mouth. When Tetteh Yohonu came to arrest me, the first thing they demanded was my mobile phone so they could track my information. They mentioned two companies, Asampa Country Men and Abronye Communication and Mining and asked which government contracts I had used them for”.

“I told them jokingly that I used them to build the Jubilee House because they cannot take me there and ask me unnecessary questions”.

He added, “They also questioned me about my alleged 15 houses in Accra, an accusation made by an ally of Kennedy Agyapong. I told them to go and look for the houses and give them to the state, because they wanted to know where the houses were”, he added.

Parliament to resume sitting on October 21 – Speaker Bagbin

0

Rt Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, has announced that Parliament will commence its Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament.

According to a statement from the Office of the Speaker, parliament will commence sitting on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Parliament House in Accra.

This announcement follows an earlier notice dated October 6, 2025, with Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin announcing a postponement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

According to Alban Bagbin, the postponements are circumstances beyond my control.

In a statement issued from the Office of the Speaker of Parliament in Accra stated, “Pursuant to the notice to summon Parliament dated September 29, 2025, I, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, hereby give notice that the commencement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic is deferred until further notice due to circumstances beyond my control”.

The statement, however, did not provide reasons for the postponement.

However, the statement revealed that a new date would be communicated later.

The postponements mean that parliamentary proceedings, which were expected to resume in October after recess, will remain on hold.

The new announcement comes at a time when parliament is set to consider key legislative and policy matters, including the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy.

Also, Dominic Ayine, the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, has revealed that the government will repeal the infamous Legislative Instrument (LI) 2462, which allows mining in forest reserves.

According to the Attorney General, LI 2505 will be laid in Parliament to repeal infamous LI 2462.

Speaking during the stakeholder engagement on illegal mining assembled by President John Dramani Mahama in Accra on Friday, October 3, Dr Ayine stated, “We have prepared an instrument that is LI 2505 in my office, and that will be laid in Parliament on the 14th of October”.

“The Minister and I have agreed that on the 14th of October, when Parliament resumes, we will lay that instrument to revoke the famous LI 2462,” he added.

Also, President John Mahama has said the repeal of LI 2462 is intended to crystallise in law what has been demonstrated in practice, which is his government’s commitment to protect these forest reserves.

“Your conclusion is lousy” – Dafeamekpor hits back at Ntim Fordjour over enlistment age limit

0

Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Majority Chief Whip, has hit back at Rev John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, following his remarks on the enlistment age limit.

Rev Ntim Fordjour labelled the two NDC MPs, Sam George and Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, who called for a review in the age restriction for military enlistment, as an attempt to allow average NDC foot soldiers into the military.

We will resist every attempt by NDC to load their overage foot soldiers into the Ghana Armed Forces.

Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor labelled Rev.

Point is that I have meticulously provided data on how 20 different Armed Forces in other jurisdictions have transitioned and yet maintained military strength”.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) announced the commencement of the 2025 enlistment and recruitment across all 16 regional capitals of the country.

The recruitment process has been officially published in state-owned newspapers, including the Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times.

According to the GAF, the decentralised recruitment is aimed at offering equal opportunity to all eligible applicants, regardless of location.

Rev John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has boldly told Sam George and Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor that the Ghana Armed Forces is not a dumping ground for overage NDC foot soldiers.

The NPP MP’s remarks follow, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Majority Chief Whip, who revealed his phone has been buzzing with NDC foot soldiers calling, not happy with the maximum age limit for enlistment into the Ghana Armed Forces.

In a social media post on his X page on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, Dafeamekpor wrote, “I have had many calls from our Party foot soldiers regarding the Army Recruitment and max age for prospective applicants. They aren’t happy”.

Dafeamekpor further went on to make a long reference to the maximum age limits for military recruitment in other countries around the world.

The South Dayi MP cited examples from African countries such as Benin and the Ivory Coast, where the maximum age limit for prospective applicants is 35 years.

He called for the same approach to be considered in Ghana and emphasised that the recruitment must come with clear conditions and defined roles for individuals within that age group.

“So, in Ghana, we can extend our age limit to say 35 years or even 40 years, depending on the medical fitness and non-combatant roles. We need new ways of doing things,” he stated.

Also, Sam Nartey George, the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, has said a maximum enlistment age of 35 years would serve our young people better.

According to Sam George, there are people in their 30s who are physically fit and sound enough to serve their Nation.

Sam George called for the re-examination of the maximum age for enlistment into Ghana’s military services.

In a post on X, Sam George wrote, “I honestly believe it is time for our beloved Nation to re-examine the maximum age for enlistment into our military services.

There are people in their 30s who are physically fit and sound enough to serve their Nation. We must not deny them this opportunity simply because of their age.

There is a precedence across the world. I believe an upper limit of 35 years would serve our young people better. Let’s nurture their dreams and not kill it.

For God and Country”, he added.

However, in a sharp rebuttal, Rev Ntim Fordjour labelled the two NDC MPs’ calls for a review age restriction for military enlistment as an attempt to allow average NDC foot soldiers into the military.

YEA denies allegations of 10-month salary delays

0

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA), in a statement, has denied allegations of owing some 300 of its staff 10-month salary delays.

The YEA statement read, “The attention of the Management of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has been drawn to reports circulating in the media alleging that about 300 staff of the Agency across the country have not been paid their salaries for ten (10) months. The Agency wishes to set the record straight and provide clarity on the matter as follows;

The YEA statement comes following some staff of the Agency across the country demanding the release of 10 months’ unpaid salaries.

According to the YEA staff, numbering about 300, they depend on their wives and menial jobs to survive as they have not been paid for 10 months.

The YEA staff have accused the agency of neglect and frustration.

Abronye arrested again, granted GH¢1 million bail

0

Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was arrested yesterday, 8 October 2025 and granted bail of GH¢1 million with two sureties.

According to reports, Abronye has been re-arrested and charged with two new criminal counts. The court has granted him bail set at GH¢1 million with two sureties for the offences related to false publication and insulting conduct.

Abronye has alleged that his second arrest was orchestrated by the bodyguard of NPP flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong.

All five NPP presidential aspirants cleared for January 31 ‘showdown’

0

All five flagbearer aspirants contesting to become the next New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer have been cleared to contest by the party’s Election Committee.

According to reports, no aspirant was disqualified, and all five have been invited to take part in the balloting for positions on the ballot paper this Friday.

The information gathered suggests the NPP is expected to make an official announcement later today.

All five aspirants being cleared follow Tuesday’s meeting of the National Council in Accra, which reviewed the report of the Presidential Vetting Committee.

Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Bryan Acheampong, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum have all been cleared to contest the scheduled election for January 31 2026, with a possible run-off on February 14.

Parts of the letter to an aspirant read, “I bring you warm greetings from the Presidential Elections Committee and congratulate you on a successful vetting outcome. The Chairman of the Committee has directed me to extend an invitation for your participation in a balloting process to determine your positions on the ballot paper for the upcoming January 31st Presidential primary”.

“I am hopeful bail processes will be finalised today” – Wontumi’s lawyer

0

Lead counsel Andy Appiah-Kubi for the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has said he is hopeful his client will meet his bail conditions and be released from police today.

Andy Appiah-Kubi noted that although the court granted Wontumi bail, the process could not be completed before the close of the day yesterday, Tuesday.

“I am glad that finally Chairman Wontumi is having his day in court” – Miracles Aboagye

0

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, an aide to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has backed the decision to take Chairman Wontumi to court.

According to Dennis Miracles Aboagye, he is glad Chairman Wontumi is having his day in court.

He emphasised that anyone found foul of the law should be taken to court for that person to prove whether or not he is involved in galamsey.

Speaking on ChannelOne TV on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, Dennis Miracles Aboagye stated, “I’m glad that finally Chairman Wontumi is having his day in court. For me I think that is how we should run our society; anybody found foul of the law should be taken to court. Let the person go through the court system before we drag them in the public space,”

“Chairman Wontumi has a responsibility to prove to the entire country that he is not engaged in galamsey because Akonta Mining, as we all know, is a licensed small-scale mining company. Is he engaged in galamsey? Let the court determine that,” he said.

He added, “Once again, Chairman Wontumi’s prosecution and persecution actually bring up a very important point. For the entire period when the NDC were in opposition, they created an impression as if Chairman Wontumi is the one doing galamsey.

Today, as Chairman Wontumi is in court, do you know what the expectation of Ghanaians is? We shouldn’t see galamsey going on. If galamsey is still going on, who is the other kingpin? Who are they?” he quizzed.

He further quizzed why the NDC chairman in Upper Denkyira East, who was captured fighting the military, is not in court.

He added, “Who are the other people? Why are they not in court with Chairman Wontumi? Your cameras have captured the NDC chairman in Upper Denkyira East fighting military men, plainly doing galamsey.

Why is he not in court? The Aowin Traditional Council has written a petition to the President about the NDC MP for Aowin. Why is he not in court with Chairman Wontumi? In nine months, you have allegedly gotten one kingpin, and yet we see galamsey tripling in its devastating effect. Who are the other people, because you said that once NPP is voted out of power, galamsey would end?”

Meanwhile, Lead counsel Andy Appiah-Kubi for the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has said he is hopeful his client will meet his bail conditions and be released from police today.

Watch as students of Ketu South studying a makeshift structure lesson are disrupted by a heavy downpour

0

Some Teachers in the Ketu South constituency are urgently calling on their MP, Hon Dzifa Gomashie, to intervene as poor infrastructure continues to disrupt learning.

In a painful video recorded by a teacher, students were seen running for shelter as rain poured through their makeshift classroom structures.

In the viral video shared the students who were being taught under trees were interrupted as they were alerted to come inside, as it was about to rain.

The student hurriedly carried their desk and ran into a school building.

Some students were also spotted running in the heavy downpour to get their belongings.

Speaking in the viral video, a Teacher at the school stated, “Hey, hurry up and come in, it is about to rain, these are the things we have been going through on the school campus. They are not coming to work for us, we beg. Where is our MP?  We beg you, MP, come and help us. We are going to die”.

Meanwhile, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and Member of Parliament for Ketu South, has said her constituency deserves a Tertiary Institution.

According to Dzifa Gomashie, one of the reasons why she fought hard for the NDC to win the 2024 election is so she will be able to push for a Tertiary Institution in Ketu South.

Speaking to Bola Ray of Starr Chat, Abla Dzifa Gomashie stated, “The second one will be education, it is a big constituency, but as I speak to you now, I don’t have even one Tertiary Institution in the community, and I am not happy about that.

It is the reason I fought as hard as I could so my party would win, so that I could champion that cause. So, I am not going to relent on it, I am going to push as hard as I can, but we do need a Tertiary Institution in Ketu South”.

Dzifa Gomashie also added that although she is happy to be known as the MP who brings in more votes for the National Democratic Congress, it must reflect the lives of the people in the constituency.

She asserted that dealing with the issues of Ketu South is very daunting and knows her predecessor will agree with her for the constituency to be divided.

According to her, she will push for Ketu South to be divided as the constituency is too huge.

Dzifa Gomashie, “Division of the Constituency, I think it should be divided. I am happy to be known as the person who brings in the biggest vote and all of that, but it must reflect in the lives of the people.

I will champion the division of the constituency because it is too large, and dealing with the issues that come with it is really daunting. I know from the bottom of my heart that all the MPs before me will attest to this fact”.

“It is a nice feeling to say I come with the votes, but for the sake of the people, I would rather the people benefit than to have personal glory for bringing the big votes, so what?”, she added.

When asked about her three main issues she wants to tackle and be known for, Dzifa Gomashie added, “I have said this in the constituency so many times, the human resources that I have there, their development is my most pressing need.

The Children of Ketu South, the youths of Ketu South, the women, and everybody within the space have the opportunity to improve upon who they are and where they are.

All the lists you gave me gave me a bittersweet feeling, because I have the opportunity to explore, I wish the same for Ketu South and the people in it”.

DOVVSU arrest two nannies for shockingly drugging twin toddlers

The Airport Divisional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU)  has arrested two nannies for shockingly drugging twin toddlers with a sleep-inducing substance in East Legon.

The suspects have been identified as Francisca Boakye, 30, a student nurse from Konongo in the Ashanti Region, and Harriet Ansah, 31, from Jasikan in the Oti Region.

The two were arrested after the mother of the twins filed a complaint in September 2025.

Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, during a press briefing, revealed the mother reported observing unusual drowsiness and behavioural changes in her two-year-old twin boys, which prompted further enquiries.

It was revealed that the nannies were administering an unidentified sleep-inducing substance into the children’s milk without the mother’s consent.

Superintendent Obeng stated, “They claim the substance made the children sleep for extended hours so they could attend to other household chores”.

Police investigations revealed Harriet Ansah admitted to the act and claimed she learned the practice from her Francisca Boakye.

Harriet Ansah further revealed that she had subjected the children to other abuse by striking their heads with a fire and calling them chimpanzees.

Following a search in the suspects’ living quarters, two used sachets and four unused sachets containing substances were retrieved.

Francisca Boakye and Harriet Ansah have both been charged with the appropriate offences and are currently in police custody, expected to reappear before the court on 20th October 2025.

Superintendent Obeng further condemned the inhumane treatment of the children as deplorable and unacceptable.

“We urge all parents and guardians to be extra vigilant in the supervision of domestic staff, especially those left in charge of vulnerable persons such as children,” she added.

“NPP was issuing mining licences like candy” – Presidential Staffer

0

Rosemond Obeng, a Presidential Staffer/Member, NDC Communications Team, has accused the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) government of issuing mining licenses like candy.

The Presidential Staffer emphasised that the NPP has no audacity to say galamsey is worsening under the NDC.

Speaking on GHOne TV, Rosemond Obeng stated, “NPP was issuing mining licences like candy, and they have the audacity to say galamsey is worsening under the NDC?”

In related news, President John Mahama says his administration has not issued a single mining license since taking office.

Speaking at his maiden media encounter on Wednesday, September 10, John Mahama stated, “Let me be clear, since my administration resumed office, not a single license has been issued to any company to mine in our forest reserves.

“The repeal of Li 2462 is, therefore, intended just to crystallise in law what we have already demonstrated in practice, which is our commitment to protect these forest reserves.”

He added, “A dedicated national task force is currently in place, actively combating the menace of illegal mining. As a result of their operations, hundreds of excavators, water pumps and other heavy equipment have been seized, disrupting the networks that have long exploited our lands and our rivers.”

“Nine forest reserves have been successfully recovered from the grip of illegal miners, restoring these vital ecosystems under state protection.”

John Mahama further added, “Our tree for life initiative is being actively rolled out across the country, targeting the restoration of lands degraded by legal mining activities.”

Meanwhile, the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has stormed a notorious galamsey hideout named ‘Gangway’ at Aboso in the Western Region.

Additional Operations:

While en route to Gangway, the NAIMOS Task Force conducted anti-galamsey operations in the Dadwen-Domping areas of the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality. These operations resulted in:

– Seizure of Equipment: 15 water pumping machines and one generator set were seized.

– *Destruction of Equipment*: Three chanfangs were destroyed, and other structures and equipment belonging to illegal miners were set ablaze.

The NAIMOS Task Force remains committed to combating illegal mining and its associated social vices in the region”.

However, some netizens have reacted to the news saying, “Strong move by NAIMOS, but it’ll only matter if it’s followed by sustained enforcement, rehabilitation, and real alternatives for those who surrendered. Otherwise, it’s just another fire that’ll burn out too soon”.

Another netizen wrote, “Boss Felix, something baffles me. So are we saying, upon all these arrests NAIMOS is doing, none of these victims can lead the security to the big men who are sponsoring these acts?”.

One more X user wrote, “Meanwhile, the person who put them there is paying them chop money if ¢50 daily aside their wages is cooling off somewhere in Accra. Next week the foreman will get a new squad to go and continue from where they left off”.

“Wontumi’s case is pure witch-hunting” – NPP communicator

0

Grace Akosua Amoabeng, a Member of the  NPP Communications Team, has said the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), case is a pure witch-hunting by the NDC government.

According to Grace Akosua Amoabeng, Chairman Wontumi’s bail conditions are not right.

Speaking on GHOne TV, the NPP communicator stated, “Chairman Wontrumi’s case is pure witch-hunting by NDC, his bail conditions are simply not right”.

“Count one: Undertaking a mining operation in 2022 at Samreboi without a valid licence.

Count Two: Undertaking a mining operation without a licence, Chairman Wontumi and one Kwame Antwi at Tano Nimire Forest Reserve.

Count Three: Undertaking a mining operation without a licence

Count four: Felling trees in a forest reserve without written authority

Count Five: Abetment of unauthorised felling of trees, Wontumi and three others

Count Six: Erecting buildings in a forest reserve without written authority

Count Seven: Abetment of unauthorised erection of buildings in a forest reserve”

Additionally, Chairman Wontumi has been charged alongside two others in connection with galamsey activities allegedly carried out by his Akonta Mining Limited.

Wontumi has been charged alongside Kwame Antwi and Akonta Mining Company Limited (Wontumi’s firm).

The second accused person, Kwame Antwi, is currently on the run.

According to court documents, Chairman Wontumi have been slapped with six counts, including “Assignment of mineral rights without approval, Assignment of mineral rights without approval, Corporate liability for unauthorised assignment, Purposely facilitating unlicensed mining, Purposely facilitating unlicensed mining, and Corporate facilitation of unlicensed mining”.

Wontumi and the two other charges stem from alleged unauthorised mining activities at Samreboi in the Western Region.

The charge sheet detailed that an operation by state security on April 26, 2025, led to the arrest of Michael Ayisi Gyedu and 28 on the Akonta Mining concession.

Mr Gyedu, during interrogation, fingered one Henry Okum as the one who gave him authorisation to supervise mining activities on the land.

According to the state, Henry Okum, during interrogation, admitted to seeking and receiving permission from Chairman Wontumi to mine within the Samreboi concession.

Investigators alleged that Wontumi granted permission without first obtaining the legally required approval from the Minister, as mandated by the laws.

Meanwhile, the Accra High Court has granted the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, a ₵15 million bail with three sureties.
