“Richard Nii Armah-Quaye shouldn’t have attracted attention to himself” – FIC CEO

0

Kwadwo Twum-Boafo, the CEO of Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC), has said Ghanaian businessman Richard Nii Armah-Quaye should not have drawn attention to himself.

According to the FIC CEO, his agency looked into the operations of Richard Nii Armah-Quaye operations businesses and taxes and noted the former BILLs CEO shouldn’t have attracted attention.

In a post on X shared by CDR Africe, the FIC CEO has stated, “We did a thorough investigation into Richard Nii Armah-Quaye’s operations, businesses and taxes, and we found that perhaps what he shouldn’t have done was attract attention”.

Kwadwo Twum-Boafo’s remarks follow, the FIC clearing both Daniel McKorley, popularly known as McDan, and Richard Nii Armah-Quaye of any wrongdoing.

The two Ghanaian businessmen have been cleared following detailed investigations into their financial transactions.

It will be recalled that the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) in March 2025 froze the accounts of the two entrepreneurs as part of a wider inter-agency probe into alleged financial irregularities.

According to FIC, the decision was taken in accordance with Section 56(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020.

After months of scrutiny, the FIC has unfrozen the accounts, restoring their full access to funds.

This was revealed by the Chief Executive Officer of the FIC, Kwadwo Twum Boafo, in an interview with Accra-based GHOne television.

Ing. Kwadwo Twum Boafo, in an interview with GHOne TV, stated, “McDan’s issue has been resolved. That is why I keep saying we don’t do personal vendettas. You can speak with him… His accounts are unfrozen.

“The accounts of Richard Nii Armah-Quaye were frozen, but they have been unfrozen now because there was a determination that there was no need for it to go forward,” Ing. Boafo said.

Ing. Kwadwo Twum Boafo detailed that both men cooperated fully with investigators during the process.

He explained, “He came here, sat down with us and gave a thorough explanation of what he does, and there was no problem. We deal with people fairly, there are no personal vendettas”.

He further detailed that the probe into the two Ghanaian businessmen was not politically motivated or targeted at specific individuals but was guided strictly by evidence and due process.

According to him, the agency is mandated to protect Ghana’s financial system from abuse, not to persecute citizens or businesses.

The FIC boss highlighted that such investigations form part of Ghana’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its anti-money laundering framework and also promoting transparency within the financial sector.

Ing. Kwadwo Twum Boafo echoed the agency’s commitment to strengthening Ghana’s anti-money laundering regime.

He further urged citizens to trust state bodies to act fairly and individually.

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have reacted to the FIC CEO’s statement, saying, “He’s been like this for over 12 years, you guys didn’t care until his birthday party”.

“Some of us knew something’s gonna brew in the future and sooner than later”, another netizen added.

One more netizen added, “WHAT NONSENSE IS THIS??? ALL BECAUSE HE THREW A VERY EXPENSIVE PARTY AND SO HE BECAME A SUSPECT OF NOT PAYING HIS TAXES!!!”

“Galamsey is becoming a ‘mafia’ situation” – Asantehene

0

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has said illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, is becoming a mafia situation.

According to the Asantehene, if care is not taken, the galamsey menace will engulf the whole country.

He added that the issues surrounding galamsey must be taken seriously, stressing that it should not be trivialised nor politicised.

Speaking at the 29th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) awards on November 8, 2025, the Asantehene stated,  “Galamsey, for example, is an issue that is so dear to everybody’s heart. We have to be very careful because it’s destroying this country. It’s more and more like a mafia situation where if you are not very careful, it’s going to engulf all of us.”

“And, therefore, we have to take this issue very, very seriously. We joke about it or we think it’s not serious, but it is, and I was asking how many people would vote for a party or a government, while we don’t want to take a firm decision on this. I’ve asked myself, because it’s politics, it’s because of votes, nothing else”.

“I can’t see why we cannot take up this matter seriously unless we are all complicit. Other than that, it’s also a serious matter. So, I was listening to the president, and I feel that more must be done to stop this,” he added.

Also, President John Dramani Mahama has vowed that as the President of Ghana, he will never give up in the fight against galamsey.

According to John Mahama, his government is leading a programme to restore mined and degraded lands and also create employment for youth.

Speaking at the 2025 GJA/KGL National Awards held at the Manhyia Palace on Saturday, November 8, John Mahama stated, “We’re restoring degraded lands while creating thousands of jobs for young people in affected communities.

I have asked the Minister of Finance to increase the budget allocation so that we can recruit more youth into forest tree planting and the Blue Water Guard to safeguard our water bodies”.

He added, “These youth are to be recruited from affected communities, and they will receive a monthly stipend of GHC1,500. I wish to commend journalists who persist in exposing environmental crime at great personal risk.

Your bravery is noted, and it’s patriotic. I wish to assure you, as the President, that I will never give up the fight,” he emphasised.

Meanwhile, the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has conducted a dawn operation at Osino in the Eastern Region, arresting 36 suspected illegal miners.

The group includes 32 Nigerien nationals and 4 Ghanaians, reportedly caught mining illegally along the Birim River in the Fanteakwa South District.

In a post on social media, Felix Kwaye Ofosu, Minister of Government Communications, stated, “NAIMOS Conducts Massive Dawn Strike in Eastern Region, arrests Several Foreign Galamseyers (32 Nigerien and 4 Ghanaians) in Swoop at Osino in the Fanteakwa South District – 8 November 2025”.

Furthermore, NAIMOS has arrested a galamsey kingpin attempting to bribe them with GHS 100,000.

This comes following NAIMOS a successful raid at an illegal mining (galamsey) site in Bisiasi, Ayensuano District, Eastern Region.

The operation resulted in the arrest of the alleged operation leader, who is accused of blocking and polluting the Ayensu River.

The galamseyers appeared at the site armed with a pistol and attempted to bribe the Task Force with a cash amount of GHS 100,000.

“I have risked my life for NPP, how can anyone call me a stranger?” – Dr Bawumia

0

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President, has said he has risked his life for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and how can anyone call him a stranger?

According to Dr Bawumia, he has served as running mate four times, as Vice President for two terms, and as flagbearer.

Dr Bawumia further emphasised that he has sacrificed, lost opportunities, and even risked his life for the NPP. So how can anyone call him a stranger?

Speaking to delegates and party faithful during his tour of the Oti Region, Dr Bawumia stated, “Those who make such comments do not understand the history of our party. The UP was formed from the coming together of people from all walks of life — and that unity gave birth to the NPP”.

“The NPP’s strength lies in its diversity. It does not matter whether you are Dagomba, Ga, Dangme, Sefwi, Ewe, Asante, or Kwahu — if you are capable, you can lead this party,” he stressed.

He added, “I have served as running mate four times, as Vice President for two terms, and now as flagbearer. I have sacrificed, lost opportunities, and even risked my life for this party. So how can anyone call me a stranger?”

“What we need is unity and mutual respect in our party and in Ghana. Let’s reject divisive talk and focus on building a stronger NPP that represents everyone,” he concluded.

Bawumia further added, “Today, some of my opponents say I am an outsider and a stranger, who does not deserve to lead the party because of where I come from.

This is dangerous, divisive and contrary to the diversity of our unifying tradition,” he stated.

He added, “Those who say this don’t understand our history. Our tradition is the Danquah-Dombo-Busia tradition, formed by all the main tribes across Ghana. This is the tradition of the NPP”.

“If Dr Bawumia, after 17 years of service to the party, is described as an outsider and stranger, how do we grow the party to attract new members from all parts of Ghana?” he asked.

Dr Bawumia further declared, “Any member from any part of the country can lead the party if you are capable. It does not matter where you are—Dagomba, Ga, Dangbe, Sefwi, Ewe, Dagarti, Wala, Bono, Asante, Akyem, Kwahu, Mamprusi, Kusasi, Konkomba, Fante, Frafra, Guan, Gonja, Sisala, Kasena, Kotokoli, Bimoba, or Chakosi.”

His comments come on the heels of a member of parliament for Asante Akyem South, Kwaku Asante Boateng, describing the former vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as a stranger.

According to the NPP member of parliament, Dr Bawumia was an alien and a stranger in the NPP who was brought in and made vice president and should have stepped aside after serving for eight years as vice president.

He claimed, Dr Bawumia is part of the reason there is no peace in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The Asante Akyem South MP likened Dr Bawumia’s situation in the NPP to a stranger in a family who was brought into the family but was later made the successor, which causes conflict in the family.

“SML was making $121,000 a day, when Ghana was producing 160,000 barrels of oil” – Manasseh Azure

0

Manasseh Azure Awuni, an Investigative journalist, has shared more details regarding the controversial  Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited  contract with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

The Investigative journalist revealed SML was making $121,000 a day, when Ghana was producing 160,000 barrels of oil.

He further refuted claims by SML that the contracts with the government were performance-based.

Manasseh Azure detailed that SML was charging Ghana a fixed amount of money for the revenue assurance service it was supplying.

Speaking in an interview with JoyNews, Manasseh Azure explained, “They were taking a fixed percentage from whatever we input. It’s like a tax. If anybody bought petroleum products, if you pump any litre of fuel into your car, anywhere in this country, as soon as the fuel comes through into the system, SML was entitled to GHp5 per litre.

“And that five pesewas may seem very small until you multiply it by the hundreds of millions and billions of litres we consume in a year,” he said.

He further explained, “Go to the gold mining sector. SML was entitled under the contract Ofori-Atta masterminded to a fixed percentage – that is, 0.75% of the total production of minerals. And this year, we are getting billions of dollars because gold prices are going up, and mineral prices are going up. It is a fixed percentage.

“Go to the downstream, where we produce petroleum. The contract said every barrel of oil Ghana produced, SML should be entitled to $0.75 per barrel. It may look small, but at the time, we’re producing up to 160,000 barrels a day. This means the company will be making at least $121,000 every single day we produce oil,” he said.

Also, Manasseh Azure Awuni has told the government that the Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) is blackmailing and telling lies following revelations about the company’s contract with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

The Investigative journalist urged the government to recover more funds from Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).

Cephas Boyuo, the lawyer representing Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML), has said that, government is compelled to compensate the company if it chooses to terminate its contract with the Ghana Revenue Authority.

Speaking to journalists in Accra on Friday, November 7, Cephas Boyuo stated, “As for our client, the SML, if the government chooses to terminate our investment overlay, that is what the government needs to pay us. If somebody wants the job, the person can go ahead and apply for the job, but you shouldn’t seek to tarnish the image of SML in the quest of taking that job. That is what we are definitely not going to allow”.

Also, the SML lawyer further revealed that SML has submitted a detailed response to President John Dramani Mahama regarding his directive to terminate all contracts.

According to Cephas Boyuo, the documents presented to the President and A-G would help them appreciate the matters and form a fair, independent opinion.

He added, “Earlier this afternoon, we delivered a comprehensive response to the President on his directive for the contract between the Ministry of Finance, GRA, and SML to be terminated, which hinged largely on the report of the OSP.

“In the letter submitted to the President and also to the Attorney General, we provided documentary evidence to each and every paragraph and elaborated on the true and accurate picture of the GRA-Ministry of Finance-SML contract,” Boyuo said.

“We are confident that a review of the documents presented to the President and the Attorney-General would help them appreciate the matters and form a fair, independent opinion on the termination directive,” he added.

The SML lawyer also rejected the OSP’s findings, insisting that all payments made to SML were performance-based and fully verified.

However, Manasseh Azure, reacting to the SML Lawyer’s remarks on CITI FM, accused SML of misleading the public.

He further wondered about the assurance SML have that they are confident that they believe the contract termination will be reversed.

Manasseh Azure stated, “A lot of the things the lawyer said are false. And I’m wondering which assurance the company may have had from some members of government that they are confident that they believe things may be reversed”.

“They seemed to be patronising the Attorney General, Dr Dominic Ayine, and at the same time issuing threats that look like blackmail, if you cancel it, we will go and get money.

“It’s not automatic that if contracts are cancelled, you will get your money. If we have strict officials diligent enough to fight for our interest, I strongly believe we should be retrieving more money from SML than the OSP is talking about and not the other way round”, he added.

“Masa you can vomit Jesus, still you go go jail” – Kevin Taylor mocks Dan Kweku Yeboah

0

Kevin Taylor, a controversial social media commentator, has mocked Dan Kwaku Yeboah, the Communications Director of the Local Organising Committee for the 13th Africa Games, saying that he will go to jail.

According to Kevin Taylor, Dan Kwaku Yeboah can vomit Jesus, but he will still be jailed.

In a post on X in reaction to a post that captured the veteran Journalist on the pulpit in a church, Kevin Taylor stated, “Masa, you can vomit Jesus still you go go jail 🤣🤣🤣”.

Dan Kwaku Yeboah, in his post, stated, “ When God’s fragrance hits the altar, we perceive it to its core”.

Kevin Taylor’s comments come following President John Mahama ordering the Auditor-General to conduct a forensic audit into the finances of the 13th African Games held in Accra in 2023.

This follows the submission of a report by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) on the organisation and management of the 13th All-Africa Games.

John Mahama’s directive forms part of efforts to promote accountability, transparency, and value for money in the use of public funds.

The Auditor-General is expected to scrutinise all financial and operational aspects of the Games.

The forensic audit is expected to cover procurement and contracting, financial management, project delivery, asset utilisation, and institutional oversight.

Reports suggest the audit will also “examine the tendering and selection of contractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with the Public Procurement Act, the management of funds and expenditures, including sponsorships, as well as the timelines, costs, and value-for-money outcomes of facilities built for the Games.

Also, verify the ownership and current state of assets procured or constructed and review the coordination among agencies and committees involved in organising the event”.

The Auditor-General is to submit the audit report to the President by the second week of December 2025.

The African Games, held from March 8 to 23, 2024, drew public criticism over its expenditure of more than $195 million on infrastructure and an additional $46 million reportedly needed for operational costs.

Meanwhile, Dan Kwaku Yeboah has said he is backing President John Dramani Mahama’s order for a forensic audit into the All-Africa Games.

According to Dan Kwaku Yeboah, he is backing President Mahama’s directives with 100 bags of cement.

The veteran sports journalist noted that, despite serving as the Communications Director of the Local Organising Committee, he did not sign any financial contract during the games.

He also added that anyone who hates accountability is a thief.

Speaking in an interview shared on social media, Dan Kwaku Yeboah stated, “I would like to thank President Mahama. Anyone who hates accountability is a thief. So if President Maham wants a forensic audit, I support him with 100 bags of cement… I believe we worked as a group, but everyone had a different role”.

“I am particularly happy because even though I was Director of Communications, I never signed any contract. But when the issue came up about media accreditation costing around $4 million, people accused me of looting funds.

“I would like to plead with Ghanaians, every contract related to media was handled by the ministry. They only discussed the details with us. But if I claim I saw the financial documents and knew whether they were blue or black, I would be telling big lies before God,” he added.

Justin Kodua, speaking at a press conference in Accra, lamented the Mahama government’s continuous interference in the work of the security agencies and sections of the judiciary.

According to Justin Kodua, state institutions, which are supposed to operate independently, have become political weapons used to silence critics and opposition voices.

A new era for seafarers: How STCW 2026 safeguards dignity at sea

0

The life of a seafarer has always been one of adventure and sacrifice, navigating not just oceans but also the immense challenges of isolation and life at sea.

For seafarers from developing nations like Ghana and Small Island Developing States (SIDS), who power the global merchant fleet, these challenges are often magnified. Now, a landmark change in international law is set to make their workplaces safer and more dignified.

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has passed the STCW 2026 amendments, introducing the most significant update to seafarer training in a generation. For the first time, it mandates comprehensive training to combat the silent epidemics of harassment and assault at sea, marking a pivotal shift towards safeguarding the mental and physical well-being of every crew member.

What This Means for Seafarers

Under the new convention, every seafarer will receive structured education on critical issues that have long been overlooked:

  • Understanding the Harm: Training will cover the full “continuum of harm,” from bullying and sexual harassment to sexual assault, ensuring seafarers can identify unacceptable behaviour in all its forms.
  • Confronting the Consequences: The curriculum will detail the profound impact of this misconduct not just on victims, but on the entire crew’s safety, mental health, and operational efficiency. It acknowledges that a harmed crew is an unsafe ship.
  • Addressing the Root Causes: Seafarers will learn how factors like the abuse of power, discrimination, extreme stress, isolation, fatigue, and substance abuse can create an environment where harassment thrives.
  • Empowering Bystanders: A key focus is on empowering every crew member with the knowledge of how to safely intervene and report incidents, transforming bystanders into active allies.
  • Trauma-Informed Support: Crucially, basic training will now include principles of a trauma-informed response, teaching seafarers how to provide initial, empathetic support to a colleague in distress.

This is a transformative step. It equips seafarers with the tools to protect themselves and each other, fostering a culture of respect that is as crucial to safety as any lifeboat drill.

Why Our Maritime Training Institution Need a Lifeline

This progress, however, does not implement itself. The burden of delivering this advanced, sensitive training falls squarely on maritime training institutions in developing countries, like our renowned Regional Maritime University (RMU). For them, STCW 2026 presents a formidable challenge.

The new requirements are not just about adding a page to a textbook. They demand a fundamental shift in teaching methodology, requiring:

  1. Specialised Faculty: Instructors need to become experts in psychosocial topics like trauma-informed care and harassment prevention, far beyond traditional nautical sciences. This requires intensive “train-the-trainer” programs.
  2. Modern Learning Environments: Teaching conflict resolution and trauma response effectively requires dedicated, safe spaces for role-playing and discussion, not just standard classrooms.
  3. Updated Simulators and Tools: To properly teach the reinforced emergency preparedness and fatigue management standards, state-of-the-art simulators and monitoring technologies are essential.

Without urgent support, there is a real risk that institutions in developing nations will be left behind, creating a two-tier system where their graduates are at a competitive disadvantage.

The Call to Action

To ensure a fair and equitable future for our seafarers, we must act now. Supporting institutions like the RMU is not an expense, but a critical investment in the global maritime industry’s safety and humanity.

I call on international development partners, the IMO, and donor countries to provide:

  • Grant funding for curriculum development and simulator upgrades.
  • Fellowships and partnerships with global experts to train our instructors.
  • Direct technical assistance to bridge the resource gap.

The STCW 2026 convention sets a new, higher standard for dignity at sea. Let us ensure that seafarers from Ghana, SIDS, and all developing nations are fully equipped to meet it, not just as compliant crew, but as leaders of a new, safer, and more respectful maritime world.

“I told Akufo-Addo to let me handle Mahama” – Dr Bawumia recounts 2016 election strategy

0

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, a presidential candidate hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has recounted his strategy that led to the party’s victory in the 2016 elections.

According to Dr Bawumia, he told former President Akufo-Addo ahead of the 2016 elections to let him handle then-President John Mahama.

He further recounted that he started attacking John Mahama and called him incompetent Mahama.

Dr Bawumia noted that the strategy led to John Mahama focusing on him and Akufo-Addo focusing on his campaign to win the election.

The former vice president further claimed that whenever the NDC hear of his name, they start insulting him because his strategy took them into opposition in 2016.

Speaking during his  Oti Region tour, Dr Bawumia detailed, “In 2016, I told Nana Addo to take a back seat, let me tackle John Dramani Mahama head-on. I took him on, and that was when I said he was incompetent. John Mahama did not like it, so he also gave it to me squarely.

He focused on me throughout his campaign, and Nana used that opportunity to focus on his campaign, which gave us victory”.

He added, “This is why the NDC doesn’t like me. When they hear my name, they start insulting me because my hard work and strategy took them into opposition in the 2016 elections.”

He further noted calls for him to be maintained as the party flagbearer.

In a social media post, he wrote, “My tour of the Oti Region continued today in Nkwanta North and Nkwanta South.

I appreciate the massive calls by party stakeholders for me to be retained as our 2028 Flagbearer, in line with our party’s remarkable tradition of consistently supporting and maintaining our Presidential Candidates since 1996.

I will continue to work hard with you, in our quest for victory in 2028, as we have done together in the past 17 years.”

Meanwhile, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said he is in politics to serve the people of Ghana and not to enrich himself.

According to Dr Bawumia, his political motivation for entering politics is rooted in service to the nation.

Dr Bawumia detailed that if he were in power to enrich himself, he would not have cancelled the Mobile Money Interoperability project, which the NDC had proposed a contract worth $1.2 billion.

He revealed that the entire project was completed for just $4.5 million and could have pocketed the rest to enrich himself.

He highlighted that his greatest joy comes from seeing how his projects are transforming the lives of Ghanaians.

Speaking to delegates during his campaign tour of Amenfi West in the Western Region, Dr Bawumia stated, “I entered politics to serve the people, not to enrich myself. When we initiated the Mobile Money Interoperability project, the NDC had proposed a contract worth $1.2 billion.

We cancelled that deal and completed the entire project for just $4.5 million, not even up to $5 million. This initiative has greatly benefited Ghanaians and created thousands of jobs,” he said.

He added, “My greatest joy comes from seeing how these projects are transforming lives, not from personal gain. I am not in politics for money; I am here to make a difference in the lives of ordinary Ghanaians,” he added.

The information gathered suggests, the altercation occurred between Owusu and his 25-year-old brother, Bright Abotsi, and quickly escalated into violence.

During the confrontation, Owusu, 43, is said to have stabbed Bright in the chest with a knife.

Bright Abotsi, the victim, was immediately rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Berekum but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The suspect fled after the incident but was later arrested by the police.

Yaw Owusu is currently in Police custody now assisting with investigations.

Also, the Ghana Police Service has placed a GH₵1million bounty on Mark Agingre, a native of Binduri in the Upper East Region.

“False and malicious, it’s clearly not my voice” – Nana B issues disclaimer against fake leaked audio

0

The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has issued a disclaimer against fake leaked audio going viral on social media.

According to Nana B, the audio is false, malicious, a complete fabrication and clearly, it’s not my voice.

He stated, “My attention has been drawn to a mischievous and fake audio circulating on TikTok and other social media platforms, alleging that I described Dr Mahamudu Bawumia with certain words.  Let me state emphatically and without any shred of doubt that audio is false, malicious, a complete fabrication and clearly, it’s not my voice.

I have never, at any point, made such comments about Dr Bawumia — not in public, not in private. This is the handiwork of desperate propagandists who are terrified of the unity and strength we are working to achieve in the NPP”.

Nana B statement added, “H.E. Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia, like all other presidential aspirants, is a leader of integrity, competence, and vision. Those peddling lies and doctored audios will not succeed in dividing us.

I urge the public and our cherished supporters to disregard this baseless fabrication and treat it with the contempt it deserves. As National Organiser, my commitment remains to unite, energise, and prepare our party for victory in 2028”.

His disclaimer comes following an alleged leaked video going viral, which claims that the former vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, will not be a good candidate for the party.

According to Nana B in the purported leaked tape, Dr Bawumia does not have anything to promise Ghanaians to come to power, and even if he did, Ghanaians would not believe him due to his failed promises in the past.

Speaking in the alleged leaked audio, Nana Boakye stated, “ Dr Bawumia will not be a good candidate for us; he does not have anything that he can promise Ghanaians for them to believe. For NPP to come to power, we have always had a promise, but Dr Bawumia has no promise.

Dr Bawumia, if he promises milk to School Children, Ghanaians will still not believe him; if the NDC tell Ghanaians he is lying, they will believe the NDC. If Kennedy Agyapong says, when a young man turns 18, he will buy a car for that person, Ghanaians will believe Kennedy Agyapong”.

He further listed some of Dr Bawumia’s failed promises and unsuccessful ones, “One village, one dam was not successful. He even said it himself, One constituency one million was also not successful. Even the Pwalugu Dam, where he went to sit in a studio and said it is the NPP’s flagship program, but there was nothing there; it was problematic.

When he stood in Cape Coast and promised a new Harbour to be built and an Airport with Akufo-Addo, later stating it was not the truth, it didn’t happen”.

Nana B added in the alleged leak tape, “How many times have you heard Bawumia promise people, he promised heaven, he promised a good economy? As we speak now, Dr Bawumia cannot even speak about the economy, so what is he going to tell Ghanaians?”

“The NPP, the way in which we come to power, we promise Ghanaians, that promise Dr Bawumia cannot do that. He can’t even if he makes the promise, no one will believe him”.

“Look at Kennedy; since he started politics, everything he had promised he has delivered”, he boldly added.

“Dr Bawumia will not be a good candidate for NPP” – Nana B says in alleged leaked audio

0

An alleged leaked audio of the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, claiming that the former vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, will not be a good candidate for the party has surfaced.

However, Nana B has issued a disclaimer describing the alleged leak tape as fake.

According to him, the audio is false, malicious, a complete fabrication and clearly, it’s not my voice.

This is the handiwork of desperate propagandists who are terrified of the unity and strength we are working to achieve in the NPP.

Passport application fee reduced from ₵500 to ₵350 effective November 13 – Ablakwa

0

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced that the new passport application fee of GH₵350 starts from Thursday, November 13, 2025.

The new change in price will see Ghanaians enjoy a 30 per cent cut in prices from the previous GH₵500 to GH₵350.

The reduction of passport fees is part of the government’s move to ease the financial burden on Ghanaians and also part of the Mahama government’s campaign plan to review passport processing.

In a social media post on X, Ablakwa stated, “New Passport Application Fee of GHS350 (a 30% reduction) comes into effect this Thursday, November 13, 2025”.

The new fees will be taken at all Passport Application Centres nationwide starting Thursday, November 13, 2025.

In related news, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, some months ago, revealed that regions without a passport application centre will have one by December 2025.

Ablakwa revealed that starting with Bolgatanga this month, all regions without an application centre will have one.

The Foreign Affairs Minister also noted that Ghanaians are now happy with the efficiency of receiving their passports in record time.

Speaking during a ceremony to hand over diplomatic passports to five distinguished Ghanaians, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa stated, “The Foreign Affairs Ministry has become very efficient, and Ghanaians are already confirming that now it is a smooth process. They are receiving their passports in record time and do not have to stress to pick them up at passport offices, because they are being delivered via courier services.

“But we still have seven regions without passport application centres. I am delighted to announce that by December, we will make sure every region without a passport application centre has one, starting with Bolgatanga this month,” he said.

Also,  Ablakwa has urged Ghanaians to ignore the conspiracy theorists and scaremongers following the United States government’s visa restrictions reversal.

Ablakwa, some days ago, revealed that the US has reversed its visa restrictions imposed on Ghana in July this year.

Ghanaians are now eligible for five-year multiple-entry visas, along with other enhanced consular privileges.

The Minister revealed that the information was communicated to him by the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Allison Hooker, during a bilateral meeting with Ghana’s delegation at the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa made this known on his social media page X on Friday, September 26. He wrote, “Big win for Ghana!

The US visa restrictions imposed on Ghana have been reversed.

Ghanaians can now be eligible for five-year multiple-entry visas and other enhanced consular privileges.

This good news was directly communicated to me by US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Allison Hooker, at a bilateral meeting earlier today, in the margins of the UN General Assembly”.

Ablakwa post added, “I am really pleased that months of high-level diplomatic negotiations has led to a successful outcome.

It will be recalled that the US imposed visa restrictions on Ghana and other countries in July this year. The affected countries were slapped with a maximum three-month single-entry visa and other limitations. In the specific case of Ghana, the Trump Administration said they were reacting to many years of visa overstays, mainly by students”.

Ablakwa described the reversal as a healthier and stronger Ghana-US relations.

NAIMOS arrests galamsey kingpin attempting to bribe them with GHS100k

0

The National Inter-Ministerial Offensive System (NAIMOS) Task Force has arrested a galamsey kingpin attempting to bribe them with GHS 100,000.

In a post by Bridget Otoo, a presidential staffer, she wrote, “A Galamsey Kingpin attempted to bribe the NAIMOS team with 100,000 cedis. These guys had blocked and polluted the Ayensu River at Bisiasi in the Ayensuano District of Eastern Region.

Fortunately, the NAIMOS team turned the bribe down, accosted him, seized the weapon from him and shut down the illegal mining site”.

In related news, the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) a few days ago, conducted a dawn operation at Osino in the Eastern Region, arresting 36 suspected illegal miners.

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has vowed that as the President of Ghana, he will never give up in the fight against galamsey.

Appointments Committee to vet Justice Baffoe-Bonnie for CJ position today

0

Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie will be vetted today, Monday, November 10, 2025, by the Appointments Committee of Parliament.

According to the Director of Media Relations at Parliament, David Sebastian Damoah, the vetting is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.

In related news, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader in parliament, has boldly stated, the vetting of Chief Justice nominee, Baffoe-Bonnie, on Monday, November 10, 2025, will not happen.

The Minority Leader cited specific parliamentary orders, including Orders 217(2), 103(F), 123(1), and 216(4), adding that “none of these allow for the consideration of a nomination when the legality of a vacancy is still sub judice”.

According to him, the  Constitution does not recognise the Chief Justice’s office as vacant while disputes are ongoing.

He further fired a shot at the majority, criticising them for what he described as the combative posture of the Majority side in relation to the vetting process.

He is quoted by GHOne to have stated, “Monday’s vetting of Chief Justice nominee, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, will not happen”.

However, Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has rejected a motion filed by the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, seeking to suspend the vetting.

Delivering his ruling on Friday, the Speaker stated, “There is no constitutional or standing order basis for Parliament to hold the process simply because there are pending cases in court”.

“Should I accept that argument, it will mean that any litigant could hold Parliament hostage — that is, file a case and freeze the work of Parliament and its committees.”

“The motion is inadmissible, and the same has been returned to the sponsor, the Minority Leader, Honourable Alexander Afenyo-Markin, as stated clearly by our standing orders,” he said.

Meanwhile, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has earlier confirmed that the minority in parliament will be part of the much-anticipated parliamentary vetting of President John Dramani Mahama’s Chief Justice nominee, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie.

According to Afenyo-Markin, all their cards are on the table, and they are not going to boycott Baffoe Bonnie vetting.

Speaking in an interview on JoyNews, Afenyo-Markin stated, “All our cards are on the table. Boycotting is out. Anybody who is expecting us to boycott, I say here and now, we will never boycott it. We will do what is right. All our cards are on the table. We’ll get there”.

He confirmed the minority’s commitment to their legislative duties under Article 144(1) of the Constitution.

Mr Afenyo-Markin, however, insisted, “He [Baffoe-Bonnie] himself must know that there is a Chief Justice. He himself must know. Yes, he knows he’s acting, and he knows that there’s a substantive Chief Justice”.

“The woman has a case before you challenging the processes. You’ve refused to empanel the court. You know that you are to empanel. If you want to rule, empanel the court, determine the matter and then bring a finality, then we can talk”, he challenged.

“OSP has become a crime scene” – Martin Kpebu drops bombshell

0

Martin Kpebu, a private legal practitioner, has made a shocking revelation about the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

He alleged that there is a lot of corruption going on at the OSP under the watch of Kissi Agyebeng, labelling the office a “crime scene”.

According to Martin Kpebu, if a poll is conducted at the OSP, there will be countless allegations against the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng.

Speaking in an Interview on TV3’s The KeyPoints on November 8, 2025, Martin Kpebu alleged, “There are a lot of corruption cases that are brewing in the OSP itself. The Office of the Special Prosecutor has become a crime scene. And I’m telling you this on authority. Let’s go conduct a poll in the OSP office today; you will see the myriad of allegations against Kissi.

“I want to say they are going to answer this question: are there two employees of the OSP who are currently working as house helps in his home? Are there two members of staff who are currently working as house helps?

Meanwhile, they are on the OSP payroll. Kissi Agyebeng should tell the people of Ghana who is Kwabena Boateng Adu, popularly called Baron?” he quizzed.

Also, Lawyer Kpebu accused Kissi Agyebeng of being clueless about Ghana’s constitution despite being a first-class graduate of law.

He alleged that Kissi Agyebeng shockingly colluded with former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to leave Ghana.

Lawyer Kpebu highlighted that Kissi Agyebeng’s recent interview with Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM), where he revealed he was powerless to stop Ofori Atta, makes him complicit in the former minister’s leaving Ghana.

Speaking in an Interview on TV3’s The KeyPoints on November 8, 2025, Martin Kpebu stated, “I told you that I suspected collusion between Kissi Agyebeng and Ken Ofori-Atta. There you have it; he has forced Kissi Agyebeng to come and confess. You heard the statement. He said he watched Ken Ofori-Atta leave. He watched him leave. He was powerless to prevent it.

“He went to the Immigration Service but didn’t get help. He went to NIB but didn’t get help. When the obvious answer, and the best, was around — that is, tell the sovereign, the owner of the country, the ultimate decider of things in this republic, that is the people of Ghana,” he added.

Lawyer Kpebu noted, “Let’s not forget, first-class graduate — first-class graduate of law — and Kissi doesn’t understand the Constitution that the ultimate decider of major decisions in Ghana is the public. Inform the people. That is the preamble to the Constitution. Sovereignty resides in the people of Ghana — Article 1(1).”

Meanwhile, Lawyer Kpebu, in an earlier interview, threatened to initiate the removal of the Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng if he fails to immediately freeze assets related to the terminated SML contract.

Speaking on TV3’s Key Point last week, Lawyer Kpebu stated, If the OSP doesn’t take immediate steps to freeze Ken Ofori-Atta’s assets, I will present a petition for his removal from office.

Lawyer Kpebu highlighted that Ken Ofori-Atta may be signing contracts to sell off his assets, including Databank, since he has no intention of returning to Ghana.

According to Lawyer Kpebu, the OSP had the SML case for more than a year, but sat on its hands doing nothing.

He explained, “The key thing we have to watch is that right now, we’ve not been able to freeze Mr Ofori-Atta’s assets, as we are talking about right now, it’s even possible that he is signing agreements to sell their shares in Data Bank, his share in Enterprise Insurance.

There are many assets he has. That is where our target should be. So we need this case to enter court quickly. And just before we enter, the law allows OSP to freeze their assets and then, after about two weeks, go back into court and get a longer duration for freezing their asset”.

“You’re dumb” – Abronye fires critics

0

Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, the Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP, has fired his critics who have been calling on Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to call him to order.

It will be recalled, Abronye, that during the week, fired former health minister, Dr Richard Anane, who accused Abronye of disrespecting former President Kufuor at an NPP meeting.

Abronye accused Dr Anane of stealing from the state when he was a minister in the government.

He also shockingly accused him of prescribing the wrong medication to his patients as a medical doctor.

Speaking on his show on Ohia TV, Abronye stated, “Dr Richard Anane is not a member of the Executive Council or the National Council because those are places where only knowledgeable people meet, and he doesn’t qualify to be there”.

“Apart from becoming a minister and making more money than I have, he doesn’t have anything I don’t have. He hasn’t gone to school more than I; the only thing he did was to steal from the state when he was a minister,” Abronye alleged.

He further reiterated, “When you were a medical doctor, you were even giving wrong prescriptions to people, and you were injecting people incorrectly, causing their deaths. The fact that you became a minister and you stole money and got more money than me, you are not more educated than I am. If the two of us are standing, you can clearly see the difference between the two of us”.

According to Abronye, those calling on Dr Bawumia to call him to order are dumb as they do not know the difference between a regional chairman and a campaign team member.

Speaking in an episode on his show on Ohia TV, Abronye stated, “You don’t know the difference between a regional chairman and a campaign team member because you’re dumb”.

“I am a regional chairman duly elected, and you must know the difference between a regional chairman and a campaign chairman or campaign team member. I don’t work for Bawumia. I’m not his personal assistant.

A regional chairman is above that, and there is no presidential candidate who will ask a regional chairman to be his personal assistant or a campaign team member. Regional chairmen are above that, and no one can stop me”.

Abronye further claimed, “Nobody in NPP can ask me to keep quiet if Richard Anane lies against me. If he mentions my name 10 times and lies against me 10 times, I will respond 10 times that he’s a liar. He came out and lied against me. If he attacks me 10 times, I will attack him 10 times”.

On his feud with Kennedy Agyapong, Abronye claimed he was only responding to former Assin Central lawmaker’s lies and propaganda.

He added, “Members of the Kennedy campaign who don’t have any message were circulating the propaganda against me, and thinking that would discourage me from responding to Kennedy Agyapong’s lies and propaganda.

“If that is your thinking, then it is a joke. You people say all sorts of dirty things on Oman FM and Net 2 against Bawumia. But I will not go that way. What I have vowed to do is to keep exposing the lies and propaganda of Kennedy Agyapong against Bawumia. This is why they are not happy with me. I keep exposing their lies and propaganda here, and they call it insults. I will continue to expose Kennedy Agyapong’s propaganda”.

Also, the news comes at a time an Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, the Deputy Minority Whip and Member of Parliament for Tolon invoked the Right to Information (RTI) Act to formally demand that President John Dramani Mahama publish an update on the GAF helicopter crash probe.

In a statement, Habib Iddrisu recounted the Presidency’s pledge to release the committee’s report or provide an update within 30 days of the commencement of the probe.

According to him, it’s been over two months since the commencement of the committee’s work, but the public has no knowledge about the report so far.

In his statement dated October 27, 2025, the MP invoked Article 21(1)(f) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 18 of the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989) to demand the information in the interest of the Ghanaian public.

The letter read, “Over two months after the commencement of the committee’s work, the public must have knowledge about the report to prove the government’s transparency during such emergency situations”.

“In light of the time that has passed and the significant public interest in this matter, I respectfully request a copy of the investigative report or update.”

The MP stated in his letter. “The public deserves to know what led to this tragic loss of such prominent figures and dedicated public servants.”

“This would not only keep the public informed but also reflect the government’s commitment to transparency during this difficult time,” he added.

Mahama to launch “nkoko nkitinkiti” project on November 12

0

Felix Kwaye Ofosu, Minister of Government Communications, has announced that President John Dramani Mahama will launch the “nkoko nkitinkiti” programme in Kumasi on Wednesday, November 12.

In a post on a social media page on X, Felix Kwaye Ofosu provided the update saying, “Very important week coming up, on Wednesday, President Mahama will launch the ‘Nkoko nkitinkiti’ programme in Kumasi”.

In related news, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has revealed that the John Mahama government’s flagship project, the ‘Nkoko Nkitinkiti‘, will cost Ghana approximately GHS 200 million.

He detailed that three million birds will be procured under the government  ‘nkoko nkitinkiti’.

According to the Agric Minister, each constituency will receive 10,000 birds.

Speaking on Hot Issues with Keminni Amanor on Sunday, September 28, 2025, Minister for Food and Agriculture Eric Opoku stated, “ We are procuring 3 million birds; each constituency will receive 10,000. This will not cost Ghana beyond GHS 200 million”.

The Agric Minister revealed that an additional 80,000 birds will be supplied to 50 existing commercial-scale farmers, with medium-scale farmers receiving between 1,000 and 3,000 birds each.

Eric Opoku revealed that Ghana imports more than 80% of its poultry needs, which is unsustainable.

“Ghana consumes a lot of poultry compared to a country like Nigeria. With this initiative, we can change the narrative and stop excessive importation,” Eric Opoku stated.

Still on the project, President John Dramani Mahama has shared details of the Nkokɔ nkitinkiti’ project set to be launched next month.

According to John Mahama, young entrepreneurs and households will form the third group of the Nkokɔ nkitinkiti’ project with full support from the government to set up and run small-scale poultry farms.

Speaking during a visit to the National Service Authority Papao Farms in Accra on Friday, September 12, John Mahama explained, “Next month we’re going to launch the Nkokɔ Nkitinkiti project. It is going to have three layers. The first will be the large-scale producers. They are going to get about 4 million day-old chicks. The second will be the medium-scale producers. They’ll get about 3 million day-old chicks”.

“Every household, every young entrepreneur who signs up, you identify your site, your chicken house and then we’ll give you the day-old chicks, and we’ll also supply you with the feed. We’ll also vaccinate the day-old chicks for you,” he said.

“So yours is just to feed them and let them grow. And after the chickens are grown, we will come to your farm and buy all the chickens from you and give you your next set of day-old chicks,” Mahama assured.

President Mahama further revealed that a large-scale production will be established in multiple regions.

“And so we’re going to build processing plants in different parts of the country. And the first processing plant is going through procurement. And once the procurement authority approves it, we’ll start to construct it,” he said.

“Other parts of the country would also have processing plants. So when we buy the chicks off you, we’ll take them to the processing plants. We’ll process the chickens and package them nicely with Nkokɔ Nkitinkiti brand on them.”

“This will help us to cut our huge poultry import bill. We should be able to produce enough poultry to feed the whole of Ghana,” President Mahama emphasised.

In the viral video on X, the ex-armed robber revealed that they robbed a woman of her money successfully, but one of his associates shot the victim’s child.

Speaking during the interview, he recounted, “We went into a house to steal. We saw the money just like the intel we got, and it was packed in a medium jute bag. I was the captain leading the robbery team. After we successfully got hold of the money, one of my people shot the leg of the victim’s child, breaching our orders. Before we proceed into the houses, we give orders to our team members not to fire their guns or shoot unless something happens”.

“The woman began crying and calling out the name of God. Due to that, I felt pity for her and informed my team to leave the money behind. That even became an argument among us.

I still can’t explain why it happened that way, even though I am a spiritual person. My boss ended up suspending me for six months,” he added.

He further revealed the tactics behind his criminal past, “When we monitor the house to see there’s a vehicle or we get intel that there’s money in the house, we storm there at night to operate.

We carry along a big cutter used by steam burners to cut through the burglar-proofing mostly in the estates. Once we cut through the burglar-proofing, we get easy access to the apartments because most people don’t lock their rooms at night.

The ex-notorious armed robber continued, “So, we study the rooms to identify which ones have noises or which ones have people who are asleep. We go straight to the master bedroom with a gun, and we round up the people in the room and tie them up. People who prove stubborn are given a knife cut because sometimes we mostly don’t intend to kill them.

We also shoot them in the knee or thigh since we know it won’t kill them. We do that so they can lead us to where the money is kept in the house. We also threatened them with the lives of their wives and children just to get them to bring out their valuables,” he explained.

“Nobody in NPP can ask me to keep quiet” – Abronye

0

Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, the Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP, has boldly declared that nobody in the party can ask him to keep quiet.

Abronye fired his critics who have been calling on Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to call him to order.

It will be recalled, Abronye, that during the week, fired former health minister, Richard Anane, who accused Abronye of disrespecting former President Kufuor at an NPP meeting.

Abronye accused Dr Anane of stealing from the state when he was a minister in the government.

He also shockingly accused him of prescribing the wrong medication to his patients as a medical doctor.

According to Abronye, those calling on Dr Bawumia to call him to order are dumb as they do not know the difference between a regional chairman and a campaign team member.

He added that if Richard Anane lies against him and mentions him 10 times, he would reply to him equally.

Meanwhile, Danquah Smith Butey, the Acting National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has refuted claims made by Dr Richard Anane suggesting that Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC) insulted former President John Agyekum Kufuor during a recent party meeting.

According to him, the reports are misleading, and he further criticised Dr Richard Anane for publicising the issue.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Danquah Smith Butey stated, “It wasn’t that Abronye disrespected President Kufuor. The misunderstanding arose from a meeting where the former President made some proposals. It’s an in-house matter that should never have been made public”>

“Abronye did not insult President Kufuor. He constantly referred to him as his in-law during the discussion. If he had insulted him, I would never have tolerated it,” he stressed.

“Kissi Agyebeng is a first-class graduate of law, but doesn’t understand the Constitution” – Kpebu

0

Martin Kpebu, a private legal practitioner, has once again aimed shots at the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng.

According to Lawyer Kpebu, Kissi Agyebeng is a first-class graduate of law, but doesn’t understand the Constitution.

Martin Kpebu further made a shocking revelation about the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

He alleged that there is a lot of corruption going on at the OSP under the watch of Kissi Agyebeng, labelling the office as a “crime scene”.

Lawyer Kpebu alleged, “There are a lot of corruption cases that are brewing in the OSP itself.

His remarks comes after Kissi Agyebeng admitted that the Office of the Special Prosecutor was powerless under the former Akufo-Addo government.

The Special Prosecutor revealed that the OSP saw former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta leaving Ghana after the 2024 elections, but they were powerless.

According to Kissi Agyebeng, the OSP lacked the operational backing required to enforce any travel restrictions.

Speaking KSM Show, Kissi Agyebeng clarified, “We didn’t watch him leave; we were powerless, that is the truth. We saw him leave, but we couldn’t prevent him from leaving the airport.

We don’t control the airport, we don’t control the exit point. Let’s face facts, before John Dramani Mahama was sworn in on 7th January, Nana Akufo-Addo was the president, that was his cousin.

Now we can rely on the Ghana Immigration Service to block someone, but at the time he left, you call up Immigration, no one will bother to respond to you”, he added.

He further added, “When he left, the President was Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo at the time he left. We were not getting the cooperation at the time from other security agencies”.

“National Security, no (cooperation at the time), situation is different now, National Signal Bureau, no, at the time, the situation is different now, National Intelligence Bureau, zero, at the time, the situation is different now, I mean the security set up was against the OSP, so we will not be able to perform our job, this was the situation,” he disclosed.

The Assembly Member for the area, who confirmed the news, revealed the incident happened on Friday night, November 7, 2025, between 7 and 8 p.m.

Anaba Joseph, the Assembly Member, narrated, “I had a call around 7 to 8 p.m. yesterday that five people had been shot dead and another injured at Temgmasug under the Koloku–Gumyoko Electoral Area. “As President, I will never give up in the galamsey fight” – Mahama vows

0

President John Dramani Mahama has vowed that as the President of Ghana, he will never give up in the fight against galamsey.

Meanwhile, Richard Ahiagbah, the Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), says President John Mahama wants to fight galamsey, but the government’s approach to tackling galamsey is not working.

According to Richard Ahiagbah, the galamsey menace in the country has reached alarming levels, with galamseyers increasingly emboldened.

Speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV on Saturday, November 8 Richard Ahiagbah stated, “Galamsey today, if you take away politics from it, is worse than it was when President Mahama came to office. There can be no denying of that. I believe in my heart that President Mahama genuinely wants to stop galamsey, but the approach so far is not working.

Even NAIMOS, I don’t see it as the lasting solution we need. We need a more expansive, all-hands-on-deck approach, one that is completely devoid of politics,” he said.

In a separate interview, Richard Ahiagbah fired shots at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government over its failure to end galamsey.

According to Richard Ahiagbah, human beings are made in 9 months, yet the NDC in 10 months have failed to end galamsey.

The NPP Director of Communications is quoted by GHOne TV as saying, “ A human being is made in 9 months, yet NDC hasn’t been able to end galamsey in 10 months”.

“When NDC hear my name, they start insulting me”  – Bawumia

0

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, a presidential candidate hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has disclosed why the National Democratic Congress (NDC) dislike him so much.

He added, My greatest joy comes from seeing how these projects are transforming lives, not from personal gain. I am not in politics for money; I am here to make a difference in the lives of ordinary Ghanaians,” he added.

The Chief Executive Officer of the McDan Group of Companies, Dr Daniel McKorley, popularly known as McDan, has said the Volta Region can generate $9 billion annually.

According to McDan, the Volta Region is a sleeping giant with a youth population exceeding 70 per cent.

Speaking passionately at the Volta Economic Forum under the theme “Harnessing the Volta Corridor Economic Potential for the 24-Hour Economy Take-off,” McDan stated, “Everybody is talking about investment, but I was talking about revenue. The Volta Region can generate nine billion dollars. Is it our attitude, or are we just not deliberate?”

“I’m developing the biggest salt mine in Africa,” he said. “Yes, there are challenges, but we’re scaling through. I’m moving into the Volta Region to start operations and develop it.”

He added, “You can have the longest cable car in the world near Afadjato Mountain. This region can be a tourism powerhouse,” he said, referencing the area’s “health tourism” potential, including traditional waterfalls believed to have healing powers.

“I want to see private jets flying here into the Volta Region with investors. Let’s take this region seriously,” he stated.

McDan further described the Volta Region as a “sleeping giant” with a youth population exceeding 70 percent.

He stressed the need to empower young people through entrepreneurship, innovation, and vocational training.

McDan added, “We have to be creative. We have the youth, and we must develop them,” he said. “The 24-hour economy is a good concept, but it only works if we start acting.”

“We are waiting for the government to come to our aid, but we have what it takes as the private sector to take a move in our own small way,” he said. “If we start, I believe the government will step in.”

In related news, Kwame Nsiah-Apau, affectionately called Okyeame Kwame, a celebrated Ghanaian musician, has praised the people of the Volta Region for keeping their river bodies and sea clean.

According to Okyeame Kwame, he is amazed by the scenery in the Volta Region and calls on all Ghanaians to clap for the people of the Volta Region.

He noted that Voltarians love nature as they are not engaged in galamsey in their river bodies.

Speaking in a viral video, Okyeame Kwame stated, “So, I am in the Volta Region, and I am going to Keta for some school work, and I am telling you this place amazes me. I want to clap for all the Voltarians in Ghana.

I love the way you keep your rivers clean, the way you keep your seas, look at the sea, not a single rubber. Look at how clean it is. Everybody on social media, let’s clap for Voltarians in Ghana, you people know how to love nature. God bless all Voltarians, you people don’t do galamsey, we love”, he added.

“Mahama genuinely wants to stop galamsey, but…” – NPP’s Ahiagbah

Richard Ahiagbah, the Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), says President John Mahama wants to fight galamsey, but the government’s approach to tackling galamsey is not working.

Also,  Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has claimed that illegal mining (galamsey) is now worse under the John Mahama-led government than it was under the NPP.

The NPP General Secretary boldly claimed that any reasonable person in this country will admit that the state of galamsey is now even worse than it was under the NPP administration.

According to him, the NPP cares so much about this country, and their doors are always open if the President sees the need to reach out for a proper round-table discussion on how to combat this menace.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, stated, “It is clear that galamsey has become worse under this administration. They have Members of Parliament who belong to the NDC, they have national officials from the NDC, the region, who are involved in galamsey.

It’s not surprising that the security agencies are struggling to deal with that issue, because when they make efforts, they are threatened by powers that be in this government,” he said.

He added, “If His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama sees the need and wisdom to reach out to us, we are ever ready for a proper roundtable discussion to deal with this matter once and for all,” he added.

Meanwhile, the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has conducted a dawn operation at Osino in the Eastern Region, arresting 36 suspected illegal miners.

“We placed the names of Kotoko players in the mouths of corpses” – Ex-Hearts mgt member recounts famous 4 nil win

0

A former Hearts of Oak management member, Aziz Haruna Futa, has recounted how the team gained its famous 4-0 result against Asante Kotoko.

On March 15, 2000, Hearts of Oak registered a famous 4-0 victory over their arch-rivals Asante Kotoko during a Ghana Premier League game in Accra.

The victory was led by Osei Kuffour, Ishmael Addo and Charles Taylor.

According to Aziz Haruna Futa, Hearts of Oak wrote the names of Asante Kotoko players and put them in the mouths of corpses for that famous 4-0 result against their rivals.

Speaking on Sporty FM, Aziz Haruna Futa recounted, “This one was very serious, I am telling you. We had to write all the Kotoko players’ names and go and look for a fresh, dead body that had been buried open-mouthed, and put their names in the dead body’s mouth and bury it again. We have done a lot of things”.

When asked about the cemetery in which the bodies were exhumed, he refused to disclose it.

Some Ghanaians have reacted to Aziz Haruna Futa’s remarks, saying, “Because a team did ‘ways and means”? It is a bit extreme, yes, but Ghana football lore will not stop existing because some player doesn’t like something Hearts did more than a decade ago”.

“With this, you want Ghana football to move forward. What’s the essence of coaching if all these heinous rituals are done before a game of football? Ghana Premier League, apeeeeeeeetoooooooooor!”, one more netizen added.

“Can we hear what Kotoko too did, especially under Abdul RAZAK Golden boy as the coach? Hahahahaaaa”, one more netizen quizzed.

“And he is not even ashamed of making such disgusting utterances? Imagine people going to the cemetery to exhume the body of your loved one without your knowledge, to do something crazy like this just because of football. You think this is how Europeans and North Africans did?”, one netizen added.

Also, MTN FA Cup Committee Chairman, Wilson Arthur, revealed juju plays a role in Ghanaian football, particularly in the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

Speaking on the subject, he stated, “The league has so many matches, and there is a lot of interest at stake. People must understand that it’s a competition. Ways and means are part of the process to win a match. Referees are always put under a spell. The referees, players, and coaches are all working on spiritually.”

For instance, I was asked to leave my seat while watching a match because I was told my team had been put under a spell. The moment I left my seat, we scored a goal. Personally, I don’t believe these things, but there are weird things in football”, he added.

Furthermore, Ghanaian football legend Mohammed Polo has opened up about his experience with a juju ritual.

Also speaking on Sporty FM, the former Hearts of Oak star, “I went to the North and they did some concoction and there was fire in a calabash, and it was not burning. Is it not satanic, and it happened? They were cooking something for me to smear on my leg, and they did like they were removing pains in my legs”.

“There is are lot of juju in football, it’s normal. It plays when you believe in it because when you do juju, juju will go against you. I know it is there, but I don’t believe juju can do anything to me, but as a human, Satan is there, and Satan has his own ways,” he added.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, November  9, 2025, the highly anticipated Super Clash Premier League match between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko will once again take place at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Hearts of Oak will be aiming to end their recent poor run form against bitter rivals Asante Kotoko.

The Phobians boy are on a winless streak against Kotoko in their last four league meetings with their last victory coming in 2023.

“Faulty Acs to blame for MPs not coming to Parliament” – NPP MP

0

Mumuni Nurideen Muhammed, the Member of Parliament for Nalerigu/Gambaga, has said the malfunctioning air-conditioners in the Job 600 office complex have contributed to Members of Parliament not showing up to the chamber.

According to Mumuni Nurideen Muhammed, the Majority leader must urgently address the situation to allow for a conducive working environment for MPs.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Friday, November 7, Mr Nurideen stated, “…For some time now, members of this House have put up complaints to the Majority Leader and the Leader of Government Business about the office air conditioners, and up till now, we have not seen any action from the Leader of Government Business.

“Some of these air conditioners not working have contributed to the members not coming to Parliament because if you come to Parliament and you do not have anywhere to sit in the Chamber, it makes it difficult for some of these Members of Parliament.

“I am pleading with the Leader of Government Business to, as a matter of urgency, look into it so that we will see how best the air conditioners can be fixed for members,” he stated.

The Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, however, dismissed the justification.

He insisted that faulty air conditioners cannot serve as an excuse for absenteeism.

“I agree with you that we need to urgently fix the air conditioners, but your challenges with the air conditioners cannot be grounds for not showing up.

If you give that indication to the public, you are essentially telling civil servants that when the air conditioner in their offices is not working, they should also not go to work,” he countered.

The debate stems from mounting public concern over lawmakers’ attendance in parliament.

Meanwhile, the attendance record from the ninth parliament sitting from January and March 2025 has revealed the Members of Parliament (MPs) who recorded the highest number of absences during the House’s session in 2025.

The report covered 43 sitting of the ninth parliament from January and March 2025.

The attendance record from Parliament exposed the MP for Bortianor-Ngleshi, Amanfro Felix Akwetey Nii Okle, as the most absent lawmaker, missing 23 sittings, followed by the MP for Nkawkaw, missing 22 sittings and the Kumawu MP Ernest Yaw Anim, missing 21 sittings.

“Other MPs with high absentee rates include Col. Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd.) of Jaman South, who missed 19 sittings; Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, MP for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam and Minister for Finance, who was absent 17 times; and Blay Nyameke Armah of Sekondi, who missed 16 sittings.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu and Minister for Foreign Affairs, recorded 15 absences, while Dr Nana Ayew Afriyie (Effiduase-Asokore), Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah (Takoradi), and Kwaku Agyeman Kwarteng (Obuasi West) each missed 14 sittings”.

Also, “Sam Nartey George (Ningo-Prampram), Dr Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo (Wa Central) — Minister for Employment — and Francis-Xavier Sosu (Madina), were each absent 13 times”.

Furthermore, Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has threatened Members of Parliament who fail to attend sittings.

According to him, the Members of Parliament who fail to attend sittings risk losing their seats.

Speaker Babgin revealed, he received attendance reports of the first and second sittings in parliament, but decided not to publish in the hope of the attendance improving.

“Bawumia will be the president for the youth and next generation” – Samira Bawumia

0

Former Second Lady Samira Bawumia has said her husband, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, will be the president for the young people and a president who thinks about the next generation.

According to Samira Bawumia, Dr Bawumia will introduce policies that will secure a better future for Ghanaian youths.

Speaking to some NPP delegates, Samira Bawumia stated, “He will be a president for the young people. He will be a president who thinks about the next generation and introduces policies that will secure a better future for you.”

So I beg of you, on January 31, help us place our faith in me as a mother, as a big sister, as someone who cares about you. I will work hard to help.

The government, I will not be part but I will be behind him, so whatever you tell me, I will make him know”.

However, some Ghanaians have reacted to Samira Bawumia’s comments, saying, “Why didn’t he do all these things as a VP for eight solid years? All the so-called lecture notes to stabilise the cedi,  gold for oil, all failed miserably”.

“Dr Bawumia is a great role model in academia, but a misfit when it comes to actual economic management and the presidency. “Wow, what a solid economic management team”, another netizen added.

An X user stated, “A president for the youth? Come on. When her husband was running the economy, youth unemployment shot past 14%, inflation hit 40%, and the cedi was doing backflips. His digital Ghana talk didn’t stop prices from choking the average Ghanaian”.

A Ghanaian noted, “There are preachers on the street everywhere. What they say is different from what they do. We have heard such promises in 2016, only for the worse to have happened to our nation”.

“I genuinely wonder what she sees when she looks at this country. Because to campaign for Bawumia now, after all we’ve endured, feels more like delusion, deceit, or desperation”, a netizen added.

“The Dr Bawumia we know is a man for the youth. He’s the only man who consistently fights for the youth of this country by creating youth-centred policies”, one more X user added.

Also, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, a former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, has said he is in politics to serve the people of Ghana and not to enrich himself.

He added, My greatest joy comes from seeing how these projects are transforming lives, not from personal gain. I am not in politics for money; I am here to make a difference in the lives of ordinary Ghanaians,” he added.

Watch lady expresses disappointment as her boyfriend buys a box of pizza as her birthday gift

0

A young Ghanaian woman has expressed deep disappointment in her boyfriend after he bought her a box of pizza as a birthday gift.

According to her, despite being unemployed, she still makes the effort to buy him quality items, including a high-end shirt she recently gifted him.

Speaking in the viral video, the young Ghanaian woman stated, while on a phone call with a friend, “If I knew, I would not have accepted it. Pizza? I nearly called the delivery guy to return it”.

“Herh, even me, that I am unemployed, when I go to town, the thing that I bring to you, I make sure it is quality. If you see the shirt that I sent to him, heavy cotton, even when he goes to town, he cannot afford it. He does not know how to buy those things”.

The Ghanaian woman’s reaction has ignited netizens on X, saying, “Patience is indeed a virtue. For all you know, this niqqa got some bigger than material thing and here she is writing him off to her friend. When will these girls learn?”.

Another X user added, “This is the part of human behaviour that will continue to baffle me. People go into relationships not to multiply, partner for a lifetime, companionship, but for material things? You don’t care about building a life together? These girls are practising SEX for GIFTS or just dumb?”

One more netizen stated, “She puts effort to get you nice quality stuff despite being unemployed, she deserves nice things too, no matter what. Pizza as a birthday gift dier aden our day anaa? Y’all should be real”

“He is stingy and Jon too herhhhhh…The brotherhood will suspend him, don’t worry, my dear…..Pizza di333 he normal vibe the brotherhood dey buy give female friends sef but Girlfriend and fiancé di3333 something special ooo especially if the lady dey hold you down o”, another netizen added.

“What was she expecting him to buy for her…..this is why birthday wishlist dey need, in the guy ein mind he spoil there roff but he go see video na dem dey diss am”, another X user stated.

A netizen added, “Expectations really hurt. Giving without expecting anything in return is the rarest form of love. Give-and-take kind of love always comes short and doesn’t get you over the finish line. It’s documented. What would you gain by broadcasting it? The relationship is dead anyway”

One X user noted, “Some Gh ladies make it so hard to be loved. I hope we all get to travel and meet new people, and see how some ladies appreciate just keyholders, fridge magnets, frigos, etc. It’s the kind gesture to most Westerners, but Gh di3 dem dey calculate price of gifts lol”

“It’s the entitlement for me. No sense of appreciation. Just sheer ingratitude and pride. There’s more to your relationship than gifts, my dear. Think wide and stop discussing your partner with your friends. Act-wise for once”, a netizen stated.

Additionally, a netizen added, “If she is unemployed, where does she get the money to buy him stuff?  Does she save the money he gives her (the gift he gives her money)?  What was the man’s financial situation before her birthday?  Who does he live with, and who does she live with? If alone, who pays for he rent?”

“Daddy, please come home, your children have missed you” – Nana Aba tells Ken Ofori-Atta

0

Nana Aba Anamoah, a renowned Ghanaian media personality, has told former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, to come back home to Ghana.

The renowned media personality cited Ken Ofori-Atta’s remarks when he suggested person asking him to resign is like telling a father to abandon his children.

According to Nana Aba, Ken Ofori-Atta needs to come home as his children in Ghana miss him.

She wrote, “Daddy, please come home. Your children have missed you”.

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have reacted to Nana Aba Anamoah’s post, saying, “This guy destroyed every goodwill the NPP had, but the moment you complain, they will tell you it’s because you hate Akufo-Addo or Akyems. Nobody hates him, but the truth is he surrounded himself with people who were not ready to tell him the truth or were not smart or just wicked”.

“So, Nana, he is refusing to come back home, clarify that he damaged the country when he was a finance minister or the court and justify that”, another netizen added.

Additionally, another stated, “I support the NPP, but this man is a shameful person, and he needs to face the law. If you’re not guilty of any allegations, then just come home!”

One more X user wrote, “And the same father can’t return home to render account to the same children he claimed he can’t abandon? Such a character. Action shall expose you after your words”.

Also, Manasseh Azure Awuni, an investigative journalist, has revealed he heard Ghana’s embattled former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, will never come back to the country.

According to Manasseh Azure Awuni, he heard from someone close to Ken Ofori-Atta that he’s never coming back to Ghana.

The investigative journalist is quoted by GHOne TV as having stated, “I heard from someone close to Ken Ofori-Atta about three or four months ago that he’s never coming back to Ghana”.

Also, Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor, has admitted that the Office of the Special Prosecutor was powerless under the former Akufo-Addo government.

Let’s face facts, before John Dramani Mahama was sworn in on 7th January, Nana Akufo-Addo was the president, who was his cousin.

NAIMOS arrest 36 galamseyers in a dawn operation at Osino

0

The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has conducted a dawn operation at Osino in the Eastern Region, arresting 36 suspected illegal miners.

The NAIMOS team also impounded heavy-duty machinery and recovered substantial amounts of cash and other mining-related materials from the site.

In related news, Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, has condemned the attack on officials of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS).

According to Alban Bagbin, Parliament will not protect any MP found guilty of misconduct.

Speaker Bagbin described the two Members of Parliament’s alleged involvement in the attack on NAIMOS as most worrying.

Speaking on the floor of parliament on Tuesday, Alban Bagbin stated, “The report of attacks on a team from the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat, a task force established to combat illegal mining activities in the country, is most worrying”.

“Also worrying is the fact that the attack was allegedly incited by one of our own, the Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, who further roped in a senior member of this House, Honourable Collins Dauda.”

He further added, “I want to take this opportunity to condemn in no uncertain terms the attack on the team of security officers who have been assigned to help deal with the menace of galamsey, which must be addressed robustly”.

“I have therefore instructed the Office of the Clerk and the Legal Services Office to provide all necessary support to the Ghana Police Service in its investigations, within the framework of the 1992 Constitution, the laws of this country, and the Standing Orders of the House.”

A police statement on the attack on the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) near Bronikrom–Hwidiem read, “Preliminary investigation has established that on Saturday, 1st November 2025, the NAIMOS Director and his team intercepted illegal miners operating near Bronikrom in the Ahafo Region and arrested some suspects. Exhibits retrieved from them include a side-hang bag containing one (1) Smith & Wesson pistol, two (2) pistol magazines, twenty-one (21) rounds of 9mm ammunition, an unregistered Range Rover vehicle, an unregistered Toyota RAV4 vehicle and several mobile phones.

While the team were preparing to hand over the suspects to the Hwidiem Police Station, the MP reportedly arrived with a group of men and demanded their release.

When his demand was refused, the group forcibly removed the suspects’ handcuffs and chased the NAIMOS team from the scene.

A mob numbering about 600, allegedly incited by the MP, later besieged the Hwidien Police Station, demanding the release of the miners and seized vehicles. The crowd vandalised the Director’s vehicle, damaged parts of the police station, and threatened to set it ablaze. Reinforcement teams from the Ahafo Regional Command were deployed to restore order and prevent further destruction”.

Meanwhile, Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, the  Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, has been granted bail of GH¢150,000.

The lawmaker has also been barred by the court from leaving the Greater Accra Region without notifying investigators.

“Afenyo-Markin’s assault case docket awaiting prosecutorial review and decision” – Deputy AG

Justice Srem Sai, the Deputy Attorney General, has revealed that the case docket of the Minority Leader and Effutu MP, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, is before the Office of the Attorney General.

According to Justice Srem Sai, Afenyo-Markin’s assault case docket is awaiting prosecutorial review and decision.

The deputy Attorney General Srem Sai, in a post on his Facebook page on November 7, wrote, “I can confirm that the docket on the case — The Republic v. Alexander Afenyo-Markin — is at the Office of the Attorney-General awaiting prosecutorial review and decision. The case involves a complaint of assault”.

Justice Srem Sai’s remarks come following the police investigations into Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s assault on a police officer during the “Save the Judiciary” protest was said to be in limbo after the Office of the Attorney-General had failed to provide advice on the case docket.

The investigation, which was initiated following a formal request from the CID to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, who subsequently directed the Effutu MP to cooperate with the authorities.

A police statement sighted showed the Special Investigation Unit forwarded their investigation findings to the Attorney General’s Office on June 27, 2025, but the AG’s office has provided no update on the case.

The case name is The Republic vs Alexander Afenyo-Markin. Read, “I respectfully forward the attached Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Duplicate Case Docket with R_ O. No. 129/2025 to you for study and advise, please”.

The document provided a brief fact on the case: “On 5th May 2025, at approximately 1700 hours, Cyber Intelligence Operatives from the Cybercrime Unit of the CID Headquarters received a one-minute, 13-second video clip bearing the official Ghana Police Service watermark.

The video was forwarded to the Unit by the Police Public Affairs Directorate for forensic analysis and investigation. Preliminary analysis of the footage revealed a physical altercation between a group of demonstrators and personnel of the Ghana Police Service deployed for crowd control and security duties during the “Save The Judiciary” demonstration. The confrontation occurred when the Police Officers attempted to enforce a restricted boundary with a metal barricade.

The video captured Hon Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Minority Leader of Parliament, among other demonstrators, striking a police officer identified as No. 48632 G/Cpl. Forson Abel, stationed at Tesano District who was one of the duty officers. The case was referred to the SIU for investigation”.

The document added, “On 6th May 2025, No. 48632 G/Cpl. Forson Abel, who reported a case of assault against Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin at the Tesano Police Station, came to the CID Headquarters with an extract of the Occurrence and an endorsed Police Medical form after attending the Hospital for treatment.

He gave his complaint statement to the effect that he was assaulted by Hon Alexander Afenyo-Markin. Witnesses, including Supt/Mr. Isane Ocansey, ASP/Mr. Sulemana-Jallo Abdulalai of Greater Accra Regional Police Headquarters, ASP/Mr. Nicholas Mensah of Achimota District, who was on duty with Cpl. Forson Abel submitted statements to the Police to the effect that Hon Alexander Afenyo-Markin struck G/Cpl. Forson Abel in the face without any provocation”.

It further noted that Alexander Afenyo-Markin made a counter-complaint in a petition letter dated 5th May, 2025.

“On 6th May, 2025, a counter-complaint in a petition letter dated 5th May, 2025, was received from Hon Alexander Afenyo-Markin alleging that he had been assaulted by G/Cpl. Abel Forson On May 2025, a team of investigators comprising personnel from the Special Investigation Unit, Crime Scene Management and Cybercrime Unit and the above-mentioned officers visited the crime scene for crime scene reconstruction. Police identified two (2) CCTV Cameras in front of the Accra International Conference Centre, which are believed to have captured the incident.

A letter was sent to the National Security Secretariat to furnish the police with video footage from the said cameras. The footage received from the National Security through the National Signals Bureau was analysed by the Cyber Crime Unit, but it did not capture the assault incident. Based on the analysis of the video obtained from the Police Public Affairs Department on 9th May 2025, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin was cautioned in the presence of an independent witness and released a set of recognisance bail.

A police medical form was also issued to him to attend the hospital and report. Witness statements were also taken from Hon Sammy Awuku and Richard Ahiagbah, who were seen in the video close to Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin”.

It further revealed that Alexander Afenyo-Markin failed to return the Police Medical Report Form despite several calls to him to do so.

Minority files RTI, demanding clarity on a petition seeking the removal of acting CJ Baffoe-Bonnie

0

The Minority Caucus in Parliament has formally written to President John Dramani Mahama, demanding clarity on a petition seeking the removal of acting Chief Justice Baffoe-Bonnie.

In a statement issued by the minority, they invoke their constitutional right to information, to demand clarity on a petition.

The Minority Caucus wants a copy of any investigative report or decision on the matter, especially as Justice Baffoe-Bonnie is currently nominated for the position of Chief Justice and awaiting parliamentary vetting.

They argue that transparency and accountability must be upheld during this critical process.

It will be recalled that a private citizen, identified as Gbande Nabin Yussif has has petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to sack the yet to be sworn in Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie.

In a petition signed by Gbande Nabin Yussif on October 6, 2025, the private citizen is pleading with President Mahama to sack the acting chief justice on the grounds of misbehaviour.

He references comments made by Paul Baffoe-Bonnie following a lawsuit filed by Israel Tetteh, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamokpor, and a group calling itself the Ghana Law Society.

Parts of Gbande Nabin Yussif’s comments read, “I respectfully submit this petition for the removal of Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, a Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana and currently Acting Chief Justice, on the grounds of stated misbehaviour. Article 146(1) provides that: A Justice of the Superior Court or a Chairman of a Regional Tribunal shall not be removed from office except for stated misbehaviour or incompetence or on the ground of inability to perform the functions of his office arising from infirmity of body or mind.”

“The conduct of Justice Baffoe-Bonnie, as set out below, constitutes stated misbehaviour because it breaches multiple provisions of the Judicial Code of Conduct for Judges and Magistrates of Ghana, and offends internationally recognised principles of judicial behaviour such as the Bangalore Principles of Judicial Conduct (2002).

“The Bangalore Principles of Judicial Conduct have been endorsed by the United Nations as part of the global standards for judicial ethics and have been recognised as an inspiring literature in drawing up Ghana’s Judicial Code of Conduct”, part of the petition reads.

The petitioner noted that the acting CJ’s statement is a breach of multiple provisions of Ghana’s Judicial Code.

“Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie’s conduct amounts to stated misbehaviour within the meaning of Article 146(1). His statements to a plaintiff in a pending constitutional case:

Breach multiple provisions of Ghana’s Judicial Code of Conduct, Contravene internationally recognised principles of judicial propriety, Independence, impartiality, integrity, and avoidance of conflicts of interest, undermine the authority and legitimacy of the judiciary, and Severely damage public confidence in the administration of justice”,  the petition stated.

SHOCK – A-G exposes Education Ministry for using WhatsApp to manage GH₵430m Free Wi-Fi project

0

The Auditor General has exposed the Ministry of Education (MoE) under the former president Akufo-Addo administration for using a WhatsApp group to manage the GH₵430m Free Wi-Fi project meant for students, GES offices.

In a social media post shared by the Fourth Estate cites Ghana’s Auditor-General’s 2024 audit report revealed that the Ministry of Education spent GH¢430.5 million on a Free Wi-Fi project for schools from 2020-2023.

According to the Auditor-General’s 2024 audit report, the GH¢430.5 million Free Wi-Fi project for schools from 2020-2023 was shockingly managed informally via regional WhatsApp groups to resolve widespread service failures.

The Fourth Estate post showed screenshots from the Bono/Ahafo region WhatsApp group.

Some people on the group chat in the screenshot complained of zero connectivity, labelling the initiative a “white elephant”.

The report revealed there was no formal monitoring or penalties enforced for the whopping GH₵430m Free Wi-Fi project meant for students, GES offices.

Some Ghanaians reacting to the post stated, “GH₵430m on Wi-Fi, yet we dey troubleshoot with WhatsApp group? Tweaa, Ghana will stress you kraa!”.

“The previous gov’t behaved like a demon – it possessed the country for destruction”, another netizen stated.

Furthermore, the Auditor General also indicted the Ministry of Education (MoE) for implementing the free wifi project for Senior High Schools (SHSs) without a clear implementation plan.

According to the Auditor General’s report, GHC430 million was paid to the project contractor, even though no services were rendered for long periods.

The Auditor General reveals that the free Wi-Fi project cost the Ghanaian taxpayer almost half a billion cedis, with little to show for that expenditure.

The free Wi-Fi project can only be described as a broken internet supply to a few schools, frustrating teachers, students, and school administrators.

A survey of 224 institutions revealed that 100% abandoned the service due to inadequate bandwidth and unresolved outages.

The free Wi-Fi project was initially budgeted to cost GHC84.4 million to install modems in 717 Senior High Schools, 16 GES Regional offices, 260 GES District offices, and 46 colleges of Education.

It was also to deliver broadband services at a monthly cost of GHC6.37 million.

Though the modems were largely installed, broadband service was patchy most schools reporting no internet connectivity.

However, despite the challenges, Busy Internet and Lifted Logistics kept invoicing the government, and the Education Ministry continuously paid despite complaints from school heads and project coordinators.

The Auditor General expressed disappointment in the project to deliver, given the amount of money spent on it.

“Providing internet services to schools, colleges, and educational offices is a laudable initiative that involves high ICT investment costs. Hence, the absence of a clear implementation plan or formal policy and procedure to optimise the delivery of the intended benefits undermines the value for money in the investment being made.”

“The Ministry of Education had made a total payment of GHC430,516,872.11 to Busy Internet Ghana Ltd and Lifted Logistics Ghana Ltd for the period between 3rd February 2020 and 24th October 2023,” the Auditor General’s report for 2024 stated.

“SML lawyer blackmailing and telling lies” – Manasseh Azure tells Gov’t

0

Manasseh Azure Awuni, an Investigative journalist, has told the government that the Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) is blackmailing and telling lies following revelations about the company’s contract with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

“We had to run for our lives as the soldiers couldn’t overpower the galamseyers” – EPA CEO on accident

Professor Nana Ama Klutse, the Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), has detailed the event that led to the accident during the agency’s anti-galamsey operation.

According to the EPA CEO, her team’s vehicle got involved in the crash while they were fleeing for their lives from heavily built and armed galamseyers.

The EPA CEO revealed the soldiers said they couldn’t overpower the heavily armed galamseyers, so they had to run for their lives.

Speaking in an interview on TV3, Professor Nana Ama Klutse narrated, “As the operation we started yesterday (Wednesday, November 5), it’s a three-week plan that the EPA has, to ensure, especially the services that others provide for mining in our water bodies, which is illegal, we plan to tackle that aspect as well”.

“So we realised that it is not just enough to say, stop mining in the river bodies, but we saw that we needed to deal with the suppliers.”

“On our way near Obuasi, we saw galamsey happening on the ground, so we decided to have a look at what they were doing. When we stopped and walked into the area, as we were getting closer, they were running away, and all of them had left by the time we got there”.

She added, “We looked around for what we could pick, and we did pick. While leaving, we saw that there were actually more of the excavators, three, that were inside a river body; they had mined in the river and blocked the river in such a way that it had taken different tributaries around the area and flooded some places. It is messy. It was really a bad situation.”

“We had the military with us, and the national security also were with us, but then we saw that we couldn’t exchange fire or we could not fight them, so we had to run for our lives. So in the course of running, speeding on the road, we encountered this accident,” she narrated.

The EPA boss described the galamseyers as heavily built men were dressed in black with CID written on the back.

She further detailed, “Some of the heavily built men were dressed in black with CID written on the back. The soldiers and the national security men asked them for their ID cards, but it became confrontational, and so we had to leave because they said they could not overpower them”.

“While they were having the confrontation, we got intel from Accra that we should leave immediately, where we were and that even the route we planned to take, we should not use it again… we had to use another route altogether, much longer through the Western Region, the Central Region to Kumasi, but just before we reached Kumasi is when we had the head-on collision,” she explained.

Professor Nana Ama Klutse further detailed the intent of the injuries sustained by the journalists, “We thank God that we all have our lives now, it is just unfortunate that we have some injuries. The most critical one is a broken thigh, which is one of the Joy TV cameramen. Abubarkar has some chest pains, and he is responding to treatment.

Adom TV’s correspondent had a head injury; he is also responding to treatment. Then we have some EPA staff who were also involved in the accident; they are all responding to treatment. We have discussed it with the doctors and nurses in charge to pay special attention to them because we were on a national assignment before this unfortunate incident happened.”

“Monday’s vetting of Chief Justice nominee, Baffoe-Bonnie, will not happen” – Afenyo-Markin

0

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader in parliament, has boldly stated, the vetting of Chief Justice nominee, Baffoe-Bonnie, on Monday, November 10, 2025, will not happen.

Also, speaking in Parliament on Friday, November 7, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin said, “We are not into blows; we are here to argue law and for you to determine. This kind of attack—‘it will happen, it will happen’—is inappropriate. They should take it easy”.

“Proceeding to vet a new person to fill that office will be rendering the application of justice,” Afenyo-Markin said.

However, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has rejected a motion filed by the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, seeking to suspend the vetting.

In addition, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has earlier confirmed that the minority in parliament will be part of the much-anticipated parliamentary vetting of President John Dramani Mahama’s Chief Justice nominee, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie.

Meanwhile, Parliament’s Appointments Committee will on Monday, November 10, 2025, vet Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie.

The official notice revealed the session will begin at 11:00 a.m. in Committee Rooms 1, 2, and 3 at the New Administration Block.

“He did a disservice to us” – SML lawyer throws Ofori-Atta under the bus

0

Cephas Boyuo, the lawyer representing Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML), has thrown former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta under the bus, accusing him of being a disservice to the company’s performance-based contract.

According to Cephas Boyuo, SML faced financial challenges due to delayed payments in its early months.

Speaking to journalists in Accra on Friday, November 7, Cephas Boyuo stated, “If there is one person who has been a disservice to SML, it is Ofori-Atta. This contract is a performance-based contract. For 10 months from the inception of SML, they were never paid”.

“Every equipment that SML brought in, Ken Ofori-Atta refused to give SML an exemption. SML paid for it. So please, it is untrue that Ken Ofori-Atta has an interest in SML. SML is independent. It is wholly for Evans Adusei.”

Cephas Boyuo also revealed SML has submitted a detailed response to President John Dramani Mahama regarding his directive to terminate all contracts.

However, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, has named former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as the chief patron, supporter, and promoter of the SML deal.

In a detailed press briefing, Kissi Agyebeng revealed that the SML (Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited), which aimed to provide revenue assurance services in the petroleum, mining, and liquid bulk distribution (LBD) sectors, lacked a legitimate operational requirement.

According to Kissi Agyabeng, both Ofori-Atta and SML management were criminally minded in their operations.

He emphasised that the OSPs’ investigation established that the SML contract was not grounded in any genuine operational need, adding that the payment made to SML was a misuse of public funds.

Kissi Agyabeng, addressing a press conference on Thursday, October 30, revealed that the Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) lacked both the tools and technical competence to execute the audit and revenue assurance services that it was contracted to perform for the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

He highlighted that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) uncovered glaring statutory breaches, conflicts of interest, and unjustified payments.

Speaking to the media, he stated, “There was no genuine need for contracting SML for the work it purported to perform”.

Kissi Agyabeng described the SML agreements as blighted by statutory breaches.

He added that the GRA failed to submit the full agreements between SML and its third-party collaborators, “GRA failed to submit the agreement between SML and other parties, such omissions violated public procurement and governance protocols”.

Speaker Bagbin dismiss Minority’s motion to halt acting Chief Justice vetting

0

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has rejected a motion filed by the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, seeking to suspend the vetting of acting Chief Justice.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority in Parliament has filed a motion seeking to halt the proceedings on the nomination of Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie as Chief Justice.

According to the minority motion, all pending legal cases concerning the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo must be resolved first.

The minority in the motion cited Articles 110(1), 125–127, 144(1) and 146 of the 1992 Constitution and relevant Standing Orders.

They called on Parliament to suspend the Appointments Committee’s vetting and plenary debate or approval processes.

The minority motion noted multiple ongoing cases, including an ECOWAS Court suit (No. ECW/CCJ/APP/32/25) and other applications before the Supreme Court and High Court.

In their motion, they further requested that Dr Dominic Ayine, the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice to appear before Parliament to provide a comprehensive briefing.

Also, they are seeking clarification on Ghana’s obligations under regional treaties relevant to the ECOWAS Court proceedings.

His verdict comes after the Minority Leader in parliament, has boldly stated, the vetting of Chief Justice nominee, Baffoe-Bonnie, on Monday, November 10, 2025, will not happen.

The Minority Leader cited specific parliamentary orders, including Orders 217(2), 103(F), 123(1), and 216(4), adding that “none of these allow for the consideration of a nomination when the legality of a vacancy is still sub judice”.

“Gov’t needs to pay us, if GRA contracts are terminated” – SML

0

Cephas Boyuo, the lawyer representing Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML), has said that, government is compelled to compensate the company if it chooses to terminate its contract with the Ghana Revenue Authority.

It will be recalled, on Friday, October 31, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama directed the Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, to terminate all existing contracts between the Government and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).

This follows the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) concluding its probe into the dubious contracts awarded to Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).

Dr Callistus Mahama, in a letter, instructed the Finance Minister to take immediate steps to end all contractual arrangements involving SML, the revenue assurance company.

Cephas Boyuo also threw former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta under the bus, accusing him of being a disservice to the company’s performance-based contract.

According to Cephas Boyuo, SML faced financial challenges due to delayed payments in its early months.

Cephas Boyuo added, “If there is one person who has been a disservice to SML, it is Ofori-Atta. This contract is a performance-based contract. For 10 months from the inception of SML, they were never paid”.

‘The accused person pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement and he was convicted on his own plea and sentenced to sixteen (16) years imprisonment in hard labour,

He has since been sent to the Ankaful prison to begin his sentence”.

In related defilement news, Ghanaians on social media are demanding Justice for a Sixteen-year-old identified as Ransford Owusu Ansah.

According to reports, the promising footballer at Siano Soccer Academy in Amasaman near Accra died on March 10, 2025.

His death has been linked to severe injuries alleged to be sexual abuse by coach Ibrahim Anyass.

Reports suggest the coach, Anyass, fled after the abuse was revealed and continues coaching children despite public demands for his arrest.

On November 5, 2025, actress Lydia Forson’s X post reignited outrage, leading to calls for systemic reforms in Ghana’s youth sports protection.

Lydia Forson, in her post, read, “I just learned about 16-year-old Ransford Owusu Ansah, a young Ghanaian footballer who, according to multiple reports, was sexually abused by his coach for years and later died after months in hospital from complications allegedly linked to that abuse.

When women speak about sexual violence, especially in schools, people often assume it only happens to girls.

But the truth is, it happens to boys too, and far more often than we want to admit”.

Also, other Ghanaians on X have joined in to demand justice for the 16-year-old Ransford Owusu Ansah with the hashtag #JusticeForRansford.

“Ransford Owusu Ansah’s dream of becoming a footballer ended when his coach, the person meant to guide him, sexually abused him. Ransford has died from the SA, yet his abuser remains free. This cannot be okay.#JusticeForRansford”, another netizen wrote.

One x user added, “Do you know how prolonged and violent the abuse must have been for it to lead to complications and death????? All that pain and suffering and NO ONE has been held accountable?  Such a shame on us as a society because his abuser is still walking free #JusticeforRansford”

A netizen added, “Coach Ibrahim is at the Abease Park still coaching other kids. He raped Ransford to the point that he couldn’t walk and two men and to carry him to Aunty Naa’s place, and even sitting was hard for him”.

“Heard this 16-year-old boy was sodomized by his Academy Coach in March and died because of it. But up until now, nothing has been done about the case, and the Coach is back coaching like nothing happened”, one more Ghanaian wrote.

“Buying a new presidential jet should be on the front burner” – Wa West MP tells gov’t

0

Peter Lanchene Toobu, the Member of Parliament for Wa West, has told the government that buying a new presidential jet should be one of the priorities.

According to the Wa West MP, a new presidential aircraft would be a more prudent and sustainable investment for Ghana’s long-term security and economic interests.

In a Facebook post on Friday, November 7, 2025, Mr Toobu stated that the frequent repairs and costly maintenance of the presidential jet demonstrate the need for a new replacement.

“Hon Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the dollar respects you, so buying a new presidential jet should be on the front burner. Blend safety and security with economics,” he wrote.

His comment comes on the back of Ernest Brogya Genfi, the Deputy Minister for Defence, providing parliament with updates on Ghana’s presidential aircraft, the Falcon 900 Executive Jet.

According to the Deputy Minister of Defence, the presidential aircraft is in its final stages of testing in France.

The Deputy Minister of Defence detailed that the Falcon 900 Executive Jet was ferried to Dassault Falcon Service in Le Bourget, France, for its mandatory 24-month and 1,600-flying-hour periodic inspection.

Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, November 6, 2025, Ernest Brogya Genfi stated, “Mr Speaker, the Falcon 900 executive aircraft was ferried to Dassault Falcon Service in Le Bourget, France, on Tuesday, 11 March 2025, for the 24-monthly and 1,600-flying-hours periodic inspection.

This inspection is a mandatory airworthiness requirement that ensures that all main maintenance and due-list tasks compiled for the inspection are completed”.

He added, “After successfully repairing the section of the wing that experienced the leakages, other challenges were encountered while reinstalling the lower panel beneath the wing”.

“Upon completion of the rectification, the aircraft will undergo a leak test of the fuel tanks, a third engine ground run, painting of the wing lower panel, and finally, an acceptance flight will be performed,” he said.

The Deputy Defence Minister further told parliament the Falcon 900 executive aircraft would return to Ghana once all technical tests and safety checks have been completed.

Ghana’s Falcon 900 EX Presidential Jet was purchased in 2009 and arrived in the country in 2010.

It replaced a 37-year-old Fokker 27 aircraft, which was regarded as a flying coffin.

The Falcon 900 EX Presidential Jet has since been grounded at the Dassault Falcon Service facility in Le Bourget, France, due to massive wear and tear issues.

In 2021, the former Akufo-Addo government sought to purchase a new and bigger jet for the Presidency, but faced public backlash over accusations of extravagant travels by Akufo-Addo.

Kwadwo Boateng-Agyemang, a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) New Juaben North Constituency Chairman, has said the late Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, told President John Dramani Mahama the presidential jet was a coffin.

According to Kwadwo Boateng-Agyemang, the late Omane Boamah pointed blankly warned Mahama about Ghana’s presidential jet as not safe.

Speaking on Atinka TV, Boateng-Agyemang stated, “I will never join the conversation about buying a new private jet. Look at what has happened regarding the crash; my family member was involved. I don’t want to make it emotional, but the truth is, they refused to service the aircraft because of what they had said”.

“The report from Omane Boamah to the president was clear. He told him point-blank that the jet Okudzeto Ablakwa was making noise about, when former President Akufo-Addo was using it, was not safe. He said if Mahama sits in it, he, Omane Boamah, would not because the jet was a coffin”,  Boateng-Agyemang claimed.

“When a boy steals at circle, he’s a thief, but when these people steal, it’s misappropriation – Geoffrey Ocansey fumes

0

Geoffrey Kabutey Ocansey, the Executive Director of Revenue Mobilisation Africa, has fumed at the description given to appointees and public officials who steal from the state coffers.

According to Geoffrey Ocansey, when a boy steals a phone at the circle, he is called a thief, but when those in suits steal, they are called financial irregularities and misappropriation.

He confidently added that those people are also thieves, as they stole from the state.

Speaking on TV3’s Agenda, Geoffrey Ocansey stated, “When a boy steals a phone at the circle, he’s a thief, but when these people steal, it’s called financial irregularities and misappropriation.

These are thieves who stole from the state. Figures show somebody deliberately sat and robbed the state, because we are in suits and we attended Legon and UCC, then we start polishing it, misappropriation, misapplication, it is thievery”.

He added, “Those of us who are also watching on, we are also supporting the act by watching on”.

His remarks follow those of Dr Dominic Ayine, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, who revealed that the National Service ghost names scandal now stands at GHC2.2 billion and not GHC548 million.

According to the Attorney General, following a forensic audit by the Auditor-General, a new figure of GHC2.2 billion has been uncovered to be the amount of money stolen.

He revealed that, per this new information, the charge sheet against the suspects will be amended for fresh charges to be brought against these suspects.

Speaking at the press briefing on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Dr Dominic Ayine added, “ I wish to announce that the Auditor-General has conducted a forensic audit into the National Service scandal, and the total amount of money stolen or illegally spent now stands at GHC2.2 billion and not the GHC548 million that was uncovered by my investigators as at June 2025.

I have here a copy of the Auditor-General’s report. We are going to base upon this in some cases and amend our charge sheet in other to bring fresh charges,” he stated.

The Attorney General further revealed investigations are still ongoing in respect to the All African Games, Mathematical sets contract, Bank of Ghana new building, stadia renovation and the National Cathedral project.

“In the case of the National Cathedral, we have requested that the Auditor-General should conduct another forensic audit, and he is being helped by one of the big four accounting companies,” he remarked.

Also, Dr Ayine accused Abdul-Wahab Hanan Aludiba, a former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food and Buffer Stock Company, of acquiring luxury assets by misappropriating public funds during his tenure.

According to the Attorney General, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) have traced several properties and bank transactions linked to Abdul-Wahab.

Meanwhile, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, has revealed his outfit seeks to recover ₵125 million from the controversial revenue assurance contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and SML (Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited).

The Special Prosecutor named, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, former Commissioner-Generals of the GRA — Rev Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah and Emmanuel Kofi Nti, also GRA officials, Isaac Crentsil, and Kwadwo Damoa. A former member of the Finance Ministry, Ernest Akore, are expected to be charged before the end of November 2025.

Don’t terminate SML–GRA contract – SML to Mahama

0

Cephas Boyuo, solicitor for the Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML), has revealed that the company has submitted a detailed response to President John Dramani Mahama regarding his directive to terminate all contracts.

According to Cephas Boyuo, the documents presented to the President and A-G would help them appreciate the matters and form a fair, independent opinion.

Speaking to journalists in Accra on Friday, November 7, Cephas Boyuo stated, “Earlier this afternoon, we delivered a comprehensive response to the President on his directive for the contract between the Ministry of Finance, GRA, and SML to be terminated, which hinged largely on the report of the OSP.

On Friday, October 31, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama directed the Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, to terminate all existing contracts between the Government and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).

Manasseh Azure Awuni, an investigative journalist, has reacted to President John Dramani Mahama’s cancellation of the Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) under the Akufo-Addo administration, highlighting that the cancellation saves the country over $500 million.

In a post on X, he wrote, “Over $500 Million or GHS5 Billion + has been saved from the cancellation of SML’s dubious contracts. One day at a time.”

Furthermore, Manasseh Azure Awuni has said it takes extreme wickedness for the former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, to sign contracts like Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML).

According to Manasseh, it takes extreme wickedness against one’s nation and its people to sign contracts like SML.

He detailed that the former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, masterminded the dubious contract.

In a post on X, Manasseh Azure Awuni detailed, “This man masterminded a dubious contract that said that SML should have a fixed percentage of revenue from:

1. Every litre of petroleum product you buy anywhere in Ghana.

2. Every barrel of oil Ghana produces.

3. Every ounce of gold Ghana produces.

4. Additional revenue from imported goods at the ports and harbours of Ghana”.

He added, “But for our investigation that ensured that the 2023 consolidated contract did not take off, SML would have been entitled to over 500 MILLION UNITED STATES DOLLARS for the first five years. The contract was renewable for another five years.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, it is not for nothing that Kwesi Pratt Jnr said SML was the “mother of all scandals” in the scandal-ridden Akufo-Addo administration”, his post concluded.

Meanwhile, the Special Prosecutor has named former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, former Commissioner-Generals of the GRA — Rev Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah and Emmanuel Kofi Nti, also GRA officials, Isaac Crentsil, and Kwadwo Damoa. A former member of the Finance Ministry, Ernest Akore, are expected to be charged before the end of November 2025 in relation to the controversial revenue assurance contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and SML (Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited).
