“You are not the only wise man in this country; bring down your ego” – MP tackles Sam George

0

Matthew Nyindam, the Member of Parliament for Kpandai Constituency, has tackled Sam George, the communication minister, over his handling of the DStv pricing brouhaha.

According to Matthew Nyindam, Sam George must bring his ego down as he is not the only wise man in Ghana.

Speaking in an interview with JoyNews, Matthew Nyindam stated, “The minister should know that the office he is holding, he is holding it in a trust, and it is not his bona fide property.

“The best he can do as a young man is to bring down his ego. He should not run down everybody thinking he’s the only wise man in this country,” he said.

He continued, “I listened to him with all his insults, and all those kinds of raising shoulders, his pomposity and the way he describes whoever he wants in whichever manner.

I wouldn’t even want to go there. But Sam should know that we are all Members of Parliament, and we share equal responsibility to protect the public and ensure that, at the end of the day, Ghanaians get the best.”

His comment comes following Sam Nartey George, on JoyNews’ PM Express show, indirectly throwing some shots at JOYNEWS’ Evans Mensah.

According to Sam George, if Evans Mensah is failing to grasp the new DStv pricing, then the Ghana Education Service will need to do more on comprehension in our basic schools.

He highlighted that if  Evans Mensah is lacking understanding, then it is a big source of worry for Ghana.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express, Sam Nartey George stated, “The Ghana Education Service will need to do more on comprehension in our basic schools because, if this is your understanding, it is a big source of worry for our country.

When I walked into the studio, I saw you analysing with your own chart; your production was back there. At the time, we put our table back there, the forex rate of the Ghanaian cedi effectively put the DStv price for premium $83, but even on your own chart that you put up there. You use a different rate, you arrive at $69 at the time I put the figure out, it was 89, in line with our West African neighbours”.

He added, “Today, per your own table, Ghana’s new price is $45 from $82 or $62, basic mathematics, my daughter in year one solves this kind of maths. Has there been a reduction? Is a yes or no.

From $69 to $45, has there been a reduction or not? This is not my conclusion; it is common logic. 69 to 45 is a reduction. I don’t have a PhD in mathematics, but I am very aware that 45 is less than 69 or 82”.

Sam George further added, “This again is not different from the adverts on the table you showed me, this is simple English and comprehension, you step up, we show up. It is asking you to upgrade that IUC number to Compact+, but that account is not on Compact+; it is a Compact account, which is why they are telling you to upgrade to Compact+ and get a boost to premium”.

The owner of this account was paying 380 cedis to DSTV, They are now saying Pay us 190 cedis and go to Compact+. How is this confusing for anybody who wants to be open-minded and fair-minded? The facts are there. And I am putting it to you that no matter how anybody wishes to spin it, nothing of this nature of what we have announced has ever been done”.

Meanwhile, Sam Nartey George announced that Ghanaian DStv subscribers will enjoy between 33% to 50% increased value.

According to Sam George, MultiChoice Africa has committed to an unprecedented increase in value offers specifically for the Ghanaian market.

Speaking at a media briefing, Sam George stated, “MultiChoice Africa has committed to an unprecedented increase in value offer only in Ghana, which will result in Ghanaian DStv subscribers getting more services for less”.

“Depending on the DStv package or bouquet you use, subscribers will get between 33% to 50% more value,” he added.

Under the arrangement, subscribers on the GHS59 Padi Bouquet will be upgraded to the Access Bouquet valued at GHS99, gaining 35 more channels and saving 40 per cent. Access Bouquet subscribers (GHS99) will move to the GHS190 Family Bouquet and save 48 per cent.

Family Bouquet users (GHS190) will be bumped up to Compact (GHS380) and enjoy live football matches, with a value increase of 50 per cent. Compact subscribers (GHS380) will receive the Compact Plus package (GHS570), saving 33 per cent.

Compact Plus (GHS570) will get Premium (GHS865) with 18 extra channels and a 34 per cent value gain. Premium subscribers will retain current content and also enter a draw to win fully paid trips to selected Premier League matches.

Also, MultiChoice Ghana, the operators of DStv, have issued a statement apologising to Ghanaians for a misleading FAQ published on their website, which was an error.

According to MultiChoice, it fully supports Sam George on the value upgrade.

In a tement issued on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, reads, “Following the recent joint press conference with the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, the National Communications Authority, MultiChoice Africa, and MultiChoice Ghana, we wish to clarify the FAQs published on our website, which created an erroneous impression of a contradiction regarding the DStv value offering, which is effective today, 1 October 2025. We would like to clarify as follows”.

“We fully support the joint media statement that was issued by the Honourable Minister, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, and implementation of same has already commenced. As contained in the said joint media statement regarding the value offering, the Committee will reconvene in three (3) months to evaluate the impact of this initiative. This will be a periodic exercise.

“There is no restriction on a subscriber’s choice of bouquet. This offer is available to both existing, returning, and new customers from 1st October 2025,” the company added.

The statement concluded with an apology: “We apologise for any inconvenience the FAQs may have caused.”

“We’re working with the Police to arrest dismissed Assistant Head of KNUST SHS” – Gender Minister

0

Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the Gender Minister, has revealed that her ministry is working with the Ghana Police Service to arrest the Assistant Headmaster of KNUST SHS, Charles Akwasi Aidoo.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has removed Charles Akwasi Aidoo, Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST Senior High School, after a viral video showed him in a compromised position with a female student.

According to the GES, Mr Charles Akwasi Aidoo has been barred from entering the school premises while investigations are ongoing.

The GES also assured Ghanaians that due process will be followed and that any disciplinary action taken will be in line with the GES code of conduct.

The GES, in a statement signed by  Head of Public Relations Daniel Fenyi, reads, “ The attention of the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) was drawn to a viral video circulating on social media, allegedly involving Mr Charles Akwasi Aidoo, the Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNU ST Senior High School, in a compromised position with a female student.

Management views the matter with utmost seriousness. In line with our commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the teaching profession and ensuring the safety and welfare of students under our care, Mr Aidoo has already been removed from office and prohibited from going to the school while thorough investigations are being carried out.

“Management assures the general public, stakeholders, parents, and students that due process will be followed, and the appropriate disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the code of conduct of the Ghana Education Service.

The GES remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and child protection in all our schools. We strongly condemn any acts that compromise the safety, dignity, and well-being of students”, the GES statement added.

The Gender Minister has now revealed that efforts are being made to get the assistant headmaster arrested.

The Gender minister further stated, “You know what the laws of the land are. Even if you are underage and you offer yourself to a man, and the man takes advantage of you, if you’re the one who even went there, the law says that once you’re underage, you should be protected, and that’s all we’ll do”.

“As to whether the girl took the video or went there [voluntarily], don’t let us justify abuse and all of these things going on. Sexual harassment is abuse, and abuse is sexual harassment. Don’t make excuses for it”,  she asserted.

She emphasised, “And let us be in awareness so we can support people and protect them from being victimised and stigmatised. So that people will not be afraid to report”.

Meanwhile, a former Assistant Headmaster of KNUST Senior High School, Daniel Boamah-Duku, has weighed in on the viral video capturing Charles Akwasi Aidoo fondling a female student.

According to the Ex-KNUST assistant head, the KNUST SHS female student is a bad girl who smokes wee and was even deboarded for Bad Behaviour.

Daniel Boamah-Duku further quizzed how Charles Akwasi Aidoo would give his phone to such a girl and involve himself with her.

He revealed Charles Akwasi Aidoo, a long-time friend whom he calls Stonebwoy, has surprised him with his actions.

Speaking in an interview on Oyerepa TV on October 1, 2025, Boamah-Duku alleged that the student “smokes wee” and had been expelled from the school’s boarding house due to misconduct, which forced her to continue as a day student.

He remarked, “No matter who you are, you cannot extort money from children. The law even says that we should not manhandle them. Even if a child offers herself to you, you must not engage her. So, God should help us all.

The child in question, from what I know she is not a good girl. She smokes weed. And I am surprised that Stonebwoy would associate with her because this is a child we disciplined and expelled from the boarding house”.

He added, “Why would you give your phone to such a girl and involve yourself with her? She is a bad girl. Stonebwoy has been my friend for years, and he is also an old student”.

Also, Theophilus Dominic VonDee, Member of Parliament for Twifo Atti-Morkwa, has said the viral KNUST Senior High School (SHS) video was consented to by the assistant headmaster and the student.

According to the Member of Parliament, Charles Akwasi Aidoo, the Assistant Headmaster did not force the young girl.

He emphasised that, looking at the video, they both agreed to do that.

Speaking on Adom TV on September 30, 2025, Theophilus Dominic VonDee stated, “I am a realist, I don’t like saying things that are not what it is. I like to say things the way they like. If you watch the video carefully, sincerely, the man was not forcing the young girl. He didn’t force her; it was more of a consented thing.”

The MP added, “The old man and the young lady agreed to do that, and it must be established. There is no sin… in saying the man forced the young lady. It was a consented thing; both agreed to be in that mood”.

Obrafour, a legendary Hiplife artiste has labelled Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie as his all-time best rapper.

The legendary Hiplife artiste revealed that Sarkodie is the most humble and respectful artiste.

Obrafour noted that Sarkodie respect people a lot and sometimes he even feels shy.

Speaking in an interview with content creator Code Micky on September 30, 2025, Obrafour stated, “It is all about love, reverence and respect between the two of us. I am yet to find that among the rest of the artiste”.

Obrafour recalled witnessing Sarkodie’s beginnings and the solid willpower that set him apart from his peers at the time.

According to Obrafour, Sarkodie entered the rap scene with a drive and discipline that made it known he was destined for greatness.

Obrafour added, “I witnessed Sarkodie’s humble beginnings, and I could see the hunger in him to fight and achieve his dreams. From the moment he entered the rap scene, I knew he was the chosen one. Sarkodie stood out from the rest, even though others were also trying their best. I didn’t need anyone to tell me; I felt it in my spirit. He is the greatest rapper I have ever seen,” Obrafour stated.

Additionally, rapper Kojo Cue also described Sarkodie as the greatest.

“Sarkodie is the greatest rapper of all time. It is metrics, it’s undeniable. You can check everywhere. Based on consistent hits, based on how huge his fanbase is. The only person I can think of who comes close to Sark in terms of fanbase is Lord Kenya, but because Lord Kenya stopped at a point, I don’t think he can go a hundred songs back-to-back with Sark.

“The most nominated has won the most awards. Whether you like it or not, you cannot argue it,” Kojo Cue said.

Meanwhile, on Saturday night, September 27, 2025, thousands of fans gathered for Sarkodie’s ‘Rapperholic concert at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium became the centre of Ghana’s entertainment world despite heavy downpours that soaked the equipment and fans.

The thousands of fans stood in the rain in their hoodies, raincoats, and umbrellas, cheering louder.

Even with the rain initially disrupting the show, the Baba Yara Sports Stadium was alive with music, laughter, and enjoyment.

The thousands of fans stayed until the rain stopped, and the show continued till Sunday morning.

Also,  Sarkodie has apologised to his colleagues who could not perform at the Rapperholic Homecoming concert.

Musicians such as Gyakie, Ypee, and a few others were unable to mount the stage at the rapperholic.

In an interview with YFM Kumasi, Sarkodie stated, “This is the craziness that happened backstage that went out of hand. My sister wasn’t able to be there. I personally had to reach out right from the stage to call her.

Because I can imagine her coming all the way just to come and support me, not because of anything. The fact that ‘my big brother is doing something, let me come and support.’ And then when you come, there will be a lot of things that happen backstag”e.

He added, “A lot of emotions will run through you, especially because of how far she came from. Pretty sure she came with family that came to see her. Ypee wasn’t able to perform as well, big shouts to my boy. I know that he knows that I got him. It’s beyond this. Sorry to all these guys who weren’t able to grace the stage. I still thank them,” Sarkodie said.

Regions without a passport application centre will have one by December – Ablakwa

0

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, has revealed that regions without a passport application centre will have one by December 2025.

Ablakwa revealed that starting with Bolgatanga this month, all regions without an application centre will have one.

The Foreign Affairs Minister also noted that Ghanaians are now happy with the efficiency of receiving their passports in record time.

Speaking during a ceremony to hand over diplomatic passports to five distinguished Ghanaians, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa stated, “The Foreign Affairs Ministry has become very efficient, and Ghanaians are already confirming that now it is a smooth process. They are receiving their passports in record time and do not have to stress to pick them up at passport offices, because they are being delivered via courier services.

“But we still have seven regions without passport application centres. I am delighted to announce that by December, we will make sure every region without a passport application centre has one, starting with Bolgatanga this month,” he said.

In related news, Ablakwa has urged Ghanaians to ignore the conspiracy theorists and scaremongers following the United States government’s visa restrictions reversal.

Ablakwa, some days ago, revealed that the US has reversed its visa restrictions imposed on Ghana in July this year.

Ghanaians are now eligible for five-year multiple-entry visas, along with other enhanced consular privileges.

The Minister revealed that the information was communicated to him by the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Allison Hooker, during a bilateral meeting with Ghana’s delegation at the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa made this known on his social media page X on Friday, September 26. He wrote, “Big win for Ghana!

The US visa restrictions imposed on Ghana have been reversed.

Ghanaians can now be eligible for five-year multiple-entry visas and other enhanced consular privileges.

This good news was directly communicated to me by US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Allison Hooker, at a bilateral meeting earlier today, in the margins of the UN General Assembly”.

Ablakwa post added, “I am really pleased that months of high-level diplomatic negotiations has led to a successful outcome.

It will be recalled that the US imposed visa restrictions on Ghana and other countries in July this year. The affected countries were slapped with a maximum three-month single-entry visa and other limitations. In the specific case of Ghana, the Trump Administration said they were reacting to many years of visa overstays, mainly by students”.

Ablakwa described the reversal as a healthier and stronger Ghana-US relations.

Ablakwa, in a statement on X, noted that since the reversal of US visa restrictions under President Donald Trump, false claims had continued to circulate.

He wrote, “Since Ghana became the only country under US visa restrictions to secure a reversal from the Trump Administration, an avalanche of conspiracy theories has been making the rounds.

May I respectfully ask that you ignore the conspiracy theorists and scaremongers.

We offer the following full assurances to Ghanaians:

1) Ghana will not be a dumping ground for US removals;

2) Ghana is not accepting criminals from the US;

3) The understanding with the US government to accept a very limited number of pre-vetted West African nationals without criminal backgrounds is consistent with our ECOWAS protocols and Pan-African credentials. It should be noted that, regardless of this arrangement, West African nationals are allowed to enter Ghana without visas;

4) Our mutually beneficial deal with the US government will not undermine Ghana’s security and stability in anyway;

5) Claims that our ongoing negotiations with the US focuses solely on receiving US removals are false. The negotiations I am leading on President Mahama’s instruction include a strong case for a reassessment of the 15% tariff imposed on Ghana. Additionally, we are negotiating a special Ghana-US trade deal, engaging on specific requests from US companies and holding fruitful talks on the future of AGOA, which is of immense importance to Ghanaian garment companies.

The Mahama Administration deeply cares for you — we shall keep working tirelessly to protect our strategic national interest, and we shall ensure our best efforts benefit all Ghanaians”, his statement added.

There is no report recommending the sacking of Ken Agyapong from NPP – Justin Kodua

0

Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has fired shots at the Bono Regional Chairman of the party, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC.

According to Justin Kodua, Abronye’s allegations against him are baseless, as there is no disciplinary committee recommending the sacking of Kennedy Agyapong.

Justin Kodua further questioned how the NPP’s Regional Chairman can talk like this.

Speaking in an interview on Net2 TV on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Kodua Frimpong detailed, “In 2023, when Ken Agyapong made his ‘showdown’ threat, I went to sit with him and told him what he did was wrong and took him to the disciplinary committee.

When he went to the disciplinary committee, they spoke to him, and the recommendation they made was that they had cautioned him not to make such statements because he (Ken) was a leader of the party”.

He added, “Then Abronye goes to sit on TV and say, the recommendation given by the party was that he (Ken) should be removed from the party… and that the report was given to me and I have sat on it.

How can a regional chairman sit down and say that the disciplinary committee has brought a report that says that a party leader should be sacked, while there is no such report? And you would also mention the name of the General Secretary, saying that I’m the one who is preventing the report from coming out.

This is not mere disinformation; you are attacking a person. It is a direct attack because you mentioned the names of some people, and it is a breach of duty as a member of the party,” he said.

Meanwhile, Abronye had earlier alleged that the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, is sitting on the 2023 Disciplinary Committee report concerning NPP flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong.

He claimed the party’s disciplinary committee recommended the sacking of Kennedy Agyapong from the party.

Speaking on Ohia TV, Abronye stated, “The 2023 disciplinary report recommends that Kennedy Agyapong should be sacked from the NPP because he is damaging the party and engaging in anti-party behaviour”.

“Justin Kodua is the one saving him. Assin Dompo, the destroyer who sold the NPP’s seat to A Plus… The report is with Justin Kodua, and he is sitting on it. He is the only person who knows why he is keeping it, and there will be a time when we will ask him about it.

“The party has structures, so why would he keep the report to himself instead of laying it before the national executives or council? The report detailed all of Agyapong’s anti-party conduct,” Abronye DC added.

Additionally,  Abronye DC, has accused former Assin Central MP and flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, of undermining NPP cohesion.

According to Abronye, Kennedy Agyapong’s anti-Christ actions and inactions seriously undermined the cohesion and integrity of the NPP.

On Tuesday, September 30, Abronye, the Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP, revealed he is fully prepared to face the committee and defend his actions.

He called for a live broadcast as he agreed to face the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Disciplinary Committee following his referral for alleged misconduct.

Abronye revealed he is prepared to provide evidence of Kennedy Agyapong’s anti-Christ actions and inactions.

“I hereby write to indicate my full preparedness and willingness to appear before the Committee to comprehensively lay bare and substantiate the anti-Christ actions and inactions of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong,” Abronye stated.

Abronye further propose that the sittings of the committee be conducted openly and broadcast live so the rank and file of the NPP may have the opportunity to witness Kennedy Agyapong’s antichrist posture and conduct.

Abronye’s statement comes after Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), referred him to the party’s disciplinary committee.

PAC recovers GH¢12.9bn in misappropriated public funds

0

The Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Abena Osei-Asare, has revealed that the committee, with the help of the Auditor-General, has been able to recover over GH¢12.9 billion in misappropriated public funds.

According to Abena Osei-Asare, accountability remains a key priority.

Speaking on Wednesday, October 1, Abena Osei-Asare stated, “One thing I am clear about is that what we are doing is yielding positive results. We have a report we will look at.

Per the work of the Public Accounts Committee, and with the support of the Auditor-General, we have been able to retrieve GH¢12.9 billion. There is a whole report on that which we will be sharing with the public at the right time,” she said.

PAC in the last weeks have been engaging officials from various ministries, departments, and agencies to address infractions captured in the Auditor-General’s Report of 2024.

The Committee is expected to resume its next sittings on October 27, 2025

In related PAC news, the management of the Tamale Teaching Hospital has been exposed for validating and paying a dead man for 26 months.

Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in Accra on Monday, September 29, the Tamale Teaching Hospital management was fingered for validating and paying a dead man for 26 months.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of parliament has quizzed the management of Tamale Teaching Hospital over some financial irregularities at the hospital.

Ranking Member Samuel Atta-Mills of PAC quizzed the Tamale Teaching Hospital management on whether they had not attended the deceased staff member’s funeral.

Speaking at the Public Accounts Committee hearing, Samuel Atta-Mills quizzed, “Habib Napare – date of separation was 2022. This guy had died. Didn’t you go to the funeral? And you validated this dead person for 26 months? And now you are coming to tell Parliament to do what?” Atta-Mills asked sharply”.

A management member reacting to the question from the committee revealed they had so far recovered GHS303,558.68 of the total amount.

He revealed that the Hospital had submitted the names of the individuals implicated in the act to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for recovery.

The management member stated, “We have recovered GHS303,558.68. We have followed a total list to EOCO to help us. EOCO has written back demanding their respective files of the person involved. We have submitted that.

Also, Chairman of the committee, Abena Osei Asare, added, “Moving forward, maybe we will ask you to bring the validators along so they speak to it, maybe they saw the person ghost or saw the person somewhere.

That’s how a deceased person will be validated for 26 good months, and then somebody who has worked for more than three months, six months will be running every day to the Controller and Accountant General just to be validated”.

Some Ghanaians reacted to the shocking development, saying, “This issue is repeatedly brought up in every Public Accounts Committee session, yet these Managing Directors continue holding their positions just by issuing apologies. How long will this go on in Ghana?”.

A netizen added, “And there are no consequences. They maintain their post, go back and device new looting scheme to loot. Such a joke of a country”.

“What’s really the essence of these sittings when government officials are not prosecuted for causing financial loss to the state?”, one more X user wrote.

Additionally, a netizen added, “NSS boss last year same story noting was done, NSA boss same story, nothing was done, ECG scandal nothing was done, eii Ghana ebi some people demma own ooo and we just pay tax for living in it. All this, yet when a common Citizen, out of desperation, commit the least of crimes, 20 years”.

One more Ghanaian wrote, “Is about time validation is assigned to various heads of departments rather than letting only one HR personnel do it for all Staff. When one travels and is in an area council like the MMDAs, they will validate for months b4 they know he is not at post. Sake of nono fio, one will do all”.

“These are crimes that people have to be going to prison for? Recovery alone shouldn’t be the answer. What did we sack the chief justice for again?”, a Ghanian wrote.

One more X user added, “You buried him with one hand and kept paying him with the other. 26 months of “ghost” salary… comedy at taxpayers’ expense. A few have turned the nation into a cash cow, so no wonder the country is poor while its people are filthy rich”.

“This country really needs someone of Donald Trump’s calibre. Because if we keep voting for these professors, lawyers, communicators, etc, our country will remain where it is. In a serious country, the committee will order the police to take these guys away”, A Ghanaian on X suggested.

Meanwhile, the Auditor-General’s (A-G) report has also revealed that the hospital paid salaries amounting to GHS 1,449,000 to a deceased staff member for a period of 26 months.

“I have never, ever called for a state of emergency” – Sam George

0

The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, has responded to claims he once called for a state of emergency in galamsey-hit areas.

According to Sam George, he never called for a state of emergency when in opposition.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express, Sam Nartey George stated, “I have never, ever called for a state of emergency”.

“Galamsey remains the biggest existential threat to our nation. It is Ghana’s version of Colombia’s drug cartels. Our armed forces are capable of launching surgical operations to win this war”.

“Have we fixed it? Not yet. But I am confident that before the expiration of President Mahama’s term, we will be in a better place,” he said.

Sam George further admitted that President John Mahama could have moved faster in the fight against illegal mining (galamsey).

Sam George argued that he wishes galamsey could even end today.

He added, “That was seven years, nine months into the Nana Akufo-Addo administration. After multiple anti-galamsey task forces and millions of cedis spent, it was fair to demand action. We didn’t see it.”

Sam George admitted, “Do I wish I had seen more? Absolutely. I wish it ended today. But in the nine months, I can confidently say that I see a desire and a will to deal with galamsey that didn’t exist in the previous eight years.”

“Under the previous president, a regional chairman openly told a minister that they must engage in galamsey because the party needed money. The president went on to campaign for that individual. That was tacit endorsement,” he said.

The communication minister stressed, “A lot more could be done in terms of enforcement. We could move faster”.

“The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has started fantastically well, but we must not rest on our laurels. We should go all out and win this war, if not for anything, in memory of the eight gallant sons who died in the helicopter crash.”

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has invitated Civil Society Organisations to a high-level engagement on illegal mining.

The meeting is scheduled for Friday, 3rd October, 2025, at 12:00 noon at Jubilee House.

The dialogue is expected to bring together government officials and civil society leaders to find a lasting solution to the menace of illegal mining.

In a letter issued by Dr Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, it indicates the dialogue will serve as a platform for frank and constructive discussions on illegal mining.

The letter stated, “This engagement aims to provide a platform for frank and constructive dialogue between the Government and civil society on the menace of illegal mining, with a view to harnessing collective expertise, perspectives, and solutions to address this national challenge”.

President Mahama’s invitation comes at a time when his government have been receiving backlash over their failure to properly deal with illegal mining.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, has ordered the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations (NAIMOS) Task Force to be firm, resolute and ruthless.

According to the Lands Minister, the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations has the full support of President John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking at the deployment of the NAIMOS Task Force in Sunyani on Sunday, September 28, 2025, Armah-Kofi Buah stated, “The fight against illegal mining is not going to stop, and every measure at the Presidency is going to be used. I charge you with a profound sense of duty and patriotism.

Any recalcitrant who enters these zones is not only a trespasser, but also an enemy of the state. You are to be firm, resolute, and ruthless.

“You will take no obtrusive intrusion from any big man. Remember, the biggest man in Ghana is the President, and he is the one who has sent you,” Mr Buah declared.

“The most powerful person in this country, the President, is fully backing you on this mission. The NDC does not and will not endorse what our President is against. In the bush or in a water body, there is no political colour.

So, if anybody goes in the name of a political colour, arrest the person. If anybody comes in the name of the President, also arrest the person,” he said.

FAQs an error – MultiChoice apologises to Ghanaians

0

MultiChoice Ghana, the operators of DStv, have issued a statement apologising to Ghanaians for a misleading FAQ published on their website, which was an error.

DStv statement comes after they had contradicted Sam Nartey George, following his announcement that  Ghanaian DStv subscribers will enjoy between 33% to 50% increased value.

However, DStv has come out to say the new value-offer increases are a promotion lasting until December 31.

According to DStv, customers who don’t pay enough to be active on their current package will not have access to the higher package.

DStv, in a statement issued to answer frequently asked questions, made this known.

However, reacting to the MP’s statement on X, Bridget Otoo quizzed the member of parliament on how a minor gives consent.

She further described the MP’s remarks as shameful,

Bridget Otoo, in a post, wrote, “How does a minor give consent?  What a shame”.

In line with our commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the teaching profession and ensuring the safety and welfare of students under our care, Mr Aidoo has already been removed from office and prohibited from going to the school while thorough investigations are being carried out.

“Sam George talks too much” – Kofi Kapito tackles Sam George over DStv deal

0

Kofi Kapito, the Chief Executive Officer of the Consumer Protection Agency (CPA), has tackled the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam Nartey George.

According to Kofi Kapito, Sam George promised Ghanaians a reduction but shot himself in the foot as he talks too much.

Kofi Kapito argued that he gets upset when the media keeps saying the DSTV deal is unprecedented.

He emphasised that there is nothing unprecedented about what Sam George did as he did Ghanaians 419.

Speaking in an interview on Metro TV,  Kofi Kapito fumed, “You know, I get upset when I hear the media saying this is unprecedented. What is unprecedented about what he did? This guy has done us 419”

“The minister promised a reduction in cost and not an increase in bouquet channels. DSTV does promotions all the time, buy one, get one free, that is not a fight for consumers. He has shot himself in the foot”, Kapito said.

He added, “This is not permanent. So, is that what we bargained for?”

Kofi Kapito continued, “The minister has shot his foot. I mean, you know, it doesn’t make any sense because when you are too exuberant, as Minister Sam George. This is what happens to you.

It is the second time that he’s telling us this thing. You remember when the data promises, the same thing. Then he told us that, oh, he’s bargaining for more data for us.

This crocro the john thing that he does is you stop, and he talks too much. He’s not. He’s not the only king in Ghana”.

“If we had threatened a boycott, DSTV would have listened. The minister should have been the last person to intervene”, he suggested.

It will be recalled that Samuel Nartey George announced that Ghanaian DStv subscribers will enjoy between 33% to 50% increased value.

According to Sam George, MultiChoice Africa has committed to an unprecedented increase in value offers specifically for the Ghanaian market.

Ghana cannot regulate okada; how will it fight galamsey? – Prof Prempeh

0

Prof Henry Kwasi Prempeh, the Chairman of the Constitutional Review Committee (CRC), has weighed in on Ghana’s failure to fight illegal small-scale mining, popularly known as ‘galamsey’.

He highlighted that it is no surprise that Ghana has failed in the fight against galamsey, as the country cannot regulate ‘trotro’, ‘okada’ and check the proliferation of slum settlements on public land.

In a social media post shared on Facebook on September 29, 2025, Prof Henry Kwasi Prempeh stated, “How can a state that cannot regulate trotro, okada, or aboboyaa, or check the proliferation of slum settlements on public land, fight galamsey! BROKEN WINDOWS!”

Still on galamsey, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, has ordered the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations (NAIMOS) Task Force to be firm, resolute and ruthless in the galamsey fight.

Also, Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, has called on NAIMOS to enforce the law without fear or favour.

He stated, “The most powerful person in this country, the President, is fully backing you on this mission. The NDC does not and will not endorse what our President is against. In the bush or in a water body, there is no political colour.

So, if anybody goes in the name of a political colour, arrest the person. If anybody comes in the name of the President, also arrest the person,” Mustapha Gbande said.

Additionally, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a private legal practitioner and social activist, has said kingpins’ financing of galamsey activities remains untouched.

According to Vormawor, in the government’s galamsey fight so far, Ghanaians have yet to see the arrest of galamsey kingpins.

The social activist demanded a clear roadmap from state agencies on the strategy to fight the menace and criticised the lack of high-profile arrests.

Speaking on TV3 Key Point on September 27, 2025, Oliver Barker-Vormawor stated, “So far, we have yet to see the arrest of the kingpins who are financing galamsey activities”.

He added, “We need a roadmap from the agencies on how best we are fighting the menace”.

“It will be ‘butubutu’, if the year ends and nothing is done on galamsey” – Franklin Cudjoe

0

President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has warned the John Mahama-led government that it will be ‘butubutu’ if the year ends and nothing is done on galamsey.

Franklin Cudjoe’s remarks come after President John Dramani Mahama’s invitation to Civil Society Organisations to a high-level engagement on illegal mining.

The meeting is scheduled for Friday, 3rd October, 2025, at 12:00 noon at Jubilee House.

President Mahama’s invitation comes at a time when his government have been receiving backlash over their failure to properly deal with illegal mining.

Reacting to the high-level meeting, Franklin Cudjoe has said that President John Mahama’s invitation to civil society organisations (CSOs) to a dialogue on galamsey is just a meet and greet.

The IMANI president criticised the Mahama government’s over-reliance on dialogues.

According to Franklin Cudjoe, John Mahama, in opposition campaign for more than 12 months, so he knows the problem of the galamsey menace.

Mr Cudjoe noted that President Mahama, in power, has already made his stance that his government is not in a hurry to declare a state of emergency on galamsey.

Speaking in an interview on Eyewitness News on Tuesday, September 30, Mr Cudjoe stated, “Frankly, apart from esprit de corps, as in gathering and meeting on this matter. I don’t know the takeaway from this meeting. Maybe the President wants to hear from us directly, face to face.

I don’t understand the meeting; whatever it is, it’s an opportunity to meet him head-on and say ‘look, this is essential and must be dealt with and some assurances that it will be done,” he said.

Franklin Cudjoe added, “The president campaigned for close to 12 months or more on this issue, so he knows.  The Presidency has made its stance known. They are not in a hurry to declare a state of emergency”.

“The measures we have to put in place are to secure the hotspots simultaneously. Those properly registered acquire proper licences to do their work, and those who don’t have licences will be dealt with.

“The meeting is a meet and greet, so far as I’m concerned. We will have to hold the President to account. We need to give ourselves timelines, give ourselves KPIs. If the year ends and we don’t see anything on galamsey, it will be ‘butubutu’ [a problem],” he warned.

Also, Prof Henry Kwasi Prempeh, the Chairman of the Constitutional Review Committee (CRC), has weighed in on Ghana’s failure to fight illegal small-scale mining, popularly known as ‘galamsey’.

‘Fugitive’ Ken Ofori-Atta spotted on the streets of US strolling with his wife

Ghana’s former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, has been spotted on the streets of the United States walking with his wife, Professor Angela Ofori-Atta.

Ken Ofori-Atta was on the left, wearing a black suit jacket, white shirt, black trousers, and carrying a light-coloured backpack, with his wife wearing a dark outfit.

According to reports, the photo of Ofori-Atta and his wife was taken in the United States.

It will be recalled that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Kissi Agyebeng, declared Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive for failing to appear for interrogation into corruption-related investigations.

Ken Ofori Atta has been accused of causing financial loss to the state in several dealings, including the construction of the famous National Cathedral and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA’s) – Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML), Termination of a contract between the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited and Beijing Xiao Cheng Technology (BXC) for the Distribution and Ambulance Procurement: A Ministry of Health contract with Service Ghana Auto Group Limited.

Kissi Agyebeng, in a press conference, stated, “On 24th January 2025, the OSP communicated to Mr Ofori-Atta that the OSP considered him a suspect, in respect to four of the cases described above. Mr Ofori-Atta was directed to attend in person at OSP on Monday, 10th February 2025, at 10GMT for an interview”.

By communication dated 31 January 2025, Mr Ofori-Atta instructed his lawyers to inform the OSP that he was out of the jurisdiction indefinitely on medical grounds and that the firm would notify the OSP of his arrival in the country in need of rescheduling his personal attendance at the OSP.

Further, the firm offered its willingness to provide the OSP with any information the OSP may require,” he noted.

“The fugitive’s name is Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori Atta. Mr Ofori-Atta is 66 years old. He was the minister of Finance of the republic between 2017 and 2024. Mr Ofori-Atta left the jurisdiction on or around 2 January 2025. On 24th January 2025, the OSP communicated to Mr Ofori-Atta that the OSP considered him a suspect in respect to four of the cases above. Mr Ofori-Atta was asked to attend in person on Monday, 10th February 2025, at 10GMT for an interview…Mr Ofori-Atta instructed his lawyers to inform the OSP that he was out of the jurisdiction indefinitely on medical grounds…”

On June 13, 2025, Mayo Clinic in the United States revealed Ken Ofori-Atta has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is expected to undergo surgery on June 13, 2025.

The wife, Prof. Mrs Angela Ofori-Atta, in the statement dated June 16, 2025, explained that Mr Ofori-Atta successfully underwent the surgery for prostate cancer at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, on Friday, June 13, and lasted over four hours.

“The doctors are pleased with how the procedure went and will now place him on a postoperative regime,” she added.

“Kenneth has always been resilient. But this has been very difficult; with the OSP choosing the period just before his surgery to declare a red alert on him,” she said.

She further gave a possible timeline by which her husband would be able to honour the invitation by the Special Prosecutor to appear before his outfit in person.

According to Prof Mrs Angela Ofori-Atta, after a successful surgery on June 13, Mr Ofori-Atta would require about 3 months to recover fully.

Mr Ofori-Atta failed to appear before the OSP for an investigative interview scheduled for Monday, June 2, 2025.

The OSP later issued a notice placing Ken Ofori-Atta on the INTERPOL Red Alert Notice database, but despite the notice, the former finance minister is still at large.

“Mahama could move faster in galamsey fight” – Sam George admits

The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, has admitted that President John Mahama could have moved faster in the fight against illegal mining (galamsey).

Sam George argued that he wishes galamsey could even end today.

Meanwhile, Toxicologist Yakubu Adam has issued a blunt warning that no amount of cooking or seasoning can destroy mercury, a heavy metal found in foodstuffs.

The toxicologist revealed that mercury, which is a heavy metal, has a lifespan of 880 years.

Toxicologist Yakubu Adam directly linked this immutable fact to the recent cases of food poisoning.

He argued that without a decisive end to illegal mining (galamsey), there is no viable solution to the contamination of the food supply.

Speaking on TV3 New Day, Toxicologist Yakubu Adam explained, “When it comes to the mercury that we are talking about, it is a heavy metal and it is also non-biodegradable, meaning it can never be destroyed when it gets into the environment, it stays in the environment.

One thing about this mercury is that if you end up taking it in your body, and you pass on through the natural process when they bury you inside the soil, you go with the mercury in your grave, so this mercury can stay in the environment for about 880 years without being destroyed, and there is nothing that can destroy it.

No amount of heat, no amount of salt, no amount of whatever you think can. You know this is not a bacterial infection or a fungal infection. They are not caused by parasites; this is heavy metals”.

He added, “So, salt water, heating, and everything can never break down this mercury in our food. When it gets into our food, it stays in our food, and we end up consuming it, and it gets into our bodies, and there are a lot of health implications”.

When it gets to our body, the major depositing part is our brain. When it gets there, it can stay in our brain for almost 20 years and can lead to neurological or neuroregenerative problems”.

The Toxicologist added that the only way to stop the exposure is to stop illegal mining (galamsey) or to stop the use of mercury in mining processes.

DStv contradicts Sam George, says new value-offer increase is a “promotion” lasting until December 31

0

DStv has contradicted the Ghana Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, following his announcement that Ghanaian DStv subscribers will enjoy between 33% to 50% increased value.

However, DStv has come out to say the new value-offer increases are a promotion lasting until December 31.

According to DStv, customers who don’t pay enough to be active on their current package will not have access to the higher package.

DStv, in a statement issued to answer frequently asked questions, made this known.

Meanwhile, Kofi Kapito, the Chief Executive Officer of the Consumer Protection Agency (CPA), has fired shots at the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam Nartey George.

According to Kofi Kapito, Sam George promised the Ghanaian people a reduction in DStv prices but did a 419.

Kofi Kapito argued that he gets upset when the media keeps saying the DSTV deal is unprecedented.

He emphasised that there is nothing unprecedented about what Sam George did, as DSTV does promotions all the time.

Also, Bernard Mornah, the former National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), has explained how Sam Nartey George failed to achieve a reduction in the DStv subscription fee.

According to Bernard Mornah, Sam George promised Ghanaians a reduction in DStv prices and not an increase in packages.

Speaking on the CTV panel discussion, Bernard Mornah explained, “That is not what Sam George promised us; that is not what the minister promised us. If you have failed, tell the people of Ghana I did not succeed. I hit a rock for us all to admit it was something that you wanted to do, but could not do.

But don’t turn around and come and tell us you have achieved more than you wanted to achieve. When that happens, the deception becomes too much”.

He continued, “Because I am seeking a reduction in the prices that I am paying, which did not happen, I was not seeking an increase in the packages; that is not what everyone was complaining about. I am very disappointed.

You are doing something for all Ghanaians, and you go and don’t succeed, you can say that ‘countrymen and women, what I wanted to achieve I could not achieve’. But to come and tell us you did not achieve what you wanted, but what you wanted was less than what you have succeeded in, is spite in our face”.

Madina fuel station dealer wins court case against oil giant TotalEnergies

0

A Madina fuel station dealer has won a court case against oil giant TotalEnergies Marketing PLC.

The High Court in Accra ruled in favour of a fuel station dealer after a long-standing contractual dispute.

Justice Patrick Baayeh presided over the case filed by TotalEnergies in August 2023 against Mr Thomas Kofi Classpeter.

Mr Thomas Kofi Classpeter is the operator of the Powerland Total Energies Service Station at Madina.

TotalEnergies was seeking declarations that a 2014 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two parties remained valid and binding for 15 years.

They also sought to compel Mr Thomas Kofi Classpeter to yield up the service station and pay damages for alleged breach of contract; however, he counterclaimed, arguing that the MOU was only intended as a temporary arrangement for six months after a formal agreement was to be signed.

According to Mr Classpeter, no such agreement was executed, and so TotalEnergies could not rely on the MOU to bind him for 15 years.

He also accused TotalEnergies of refusing to issue a letter required by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) for him to sever ties and operate independently.

Justice Patrick Baayeh, in his judgment, noted the MOU was just provisional and stopped to have legal effect after six months.

He added that the company could not unilaterally extend its terms because the parties continued to operate under the arrangement for nine years without a formal contract being signed.

On the CalBank ATM, the judge ruled that TotalEnergies had no right to lease part of the defendant’s land without his consent.

The judge ordered TotalEnergies to account for all rent payments received from CalBank since installation.

Ordering that 50 per cent of the total proceeds be paid to Mr Classpeter within 60 days after the accounts were filed in court.

The court, however, dismissed the Madina fuel station dealer’s claim for damages over the refusal to issue a release letter.

Justice Baayeh awarded costs of GH¢50,000 against TotalEnergies in favour of the defendant, the Madina fuel station dealer.

The court further ordered TotalEnergies to issue a release letter to the defendant within 30 days, starting from the day the judgment was delivered.

President Mahama petitioned to sack SC Judge Justice Kulendi

0

President John Mahama has been petitioned to remove Supreme Court Judge, Justice Yonny Kulendi, over alleged judicial misconduct.

The petition was filed by Daniel Marfo Ofori-Atta on September 30, 2025.

Daniel Marfo Ofori-Atta accuse Justice Kulendi of improper interference in the ambulance scandal case, Republic v. Cassiel Ato Forson & 2 Others.

According to the letter, Mr Ofori-Atta claimed that the alleged actions of Justice Kulendi flout provisions of the Code of Conduct for Judges and Magistrates.

Reports suggest the petition has been duly filed and acknowledged by the Presidency.

Also, a private citizen has petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to investigate the Director of Special Operations at the National Security, Richard Jakpa, and Justice Yonny Kulendi.

The Private citizen has been identified as Daniel Marfo Ofori-Atta.

Daniel Marfo Ofori-Atta has alleged a conspiracy between Richard Jakpa and Justice Yonny Kulendi to interfere in the Ato Forson ambulance trial.

The petitioner, Daniel Marfo Ofori-Atta, argues that the actions of Justice Kulendi and his cousin, Richard Jakpa, during the trial constitute a calculated effort to unlawfully interfere with the administration of justice.

The petition is dated September 29, 2025 and details a series of alleged covert meetings and communications spanning the period of the case, which commenced in January 2023.

Daniel Marfo Ofori-Atta is demanding that the CID “conduct an investigation into the conduct of Justice Yonny Kulendi and his cousin, Richard Jakpa, to unravel all acts of criminality disclosed by their conduct, and take such prosecutorial action as is consistent with law”.

Also, Richard Jakpa had earlier petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to investigate former Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame.

Jakpa has petitioned the CID to investigate Godfred Yeboah Dame over alleged attempts to fabricate evidence during the trial of Dr Ato Forson and two others.

The petition, which was dated July 23, 2025, was formally signed by Richard Jakpa himself. It details a phone conversation allegedly held on March 26, 2024, between Mr Jakpa and Mr Dame.

Richard Jakpa, who was the third accused person in the high-profile ambulance procurement case, which involved the now Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson.

According to Jakpa, Godfred Dame misconducted himself when he allegedly asked for his cooperation to incriminate Ato Forson.

In the petition, Jakpa revealed the former Attorney General wanted him to testify in a manner to incriminate Dr Ato Forson to help fast-track the conclusion of the case.

He revealed a testimony used to incriminate Dr Ato Forson, which led to a phone call placed to him by Godfred Yeboah Dame on March 26, 2024.

Jakpa stated in the petition, “In the phone conversation between the then-Attorney General and me, which I have attached to this petition, he suggested that during cross-examination I testify not based on matters personally perceived and understood by me”.

“In that telephone conversation, Godfred Dame directly engaged me on the subject of the Letters of Credit (LCs) as an Attorney-General of the Republic of Ghana”, he stated in his petition.

Jakpa added, “stated how he thought I should answer questions regarding the Letters of Credit during cross-examination contrary to my honest understanding and knowledge of how Letters of Credit work”.

According to Jakpa, he opposed Dame’s legal conspiracies even though Dame asserted that it would not bear any risk to him.

He alleged, “He further said he would be travelling out of the country and not able to be in court at the next adjourned date, and that I seek an adjournment from the court by getting an excuse duty from a hospital to the court that I was sick to allow him to be present in court before I proceed with my testimony”.

“Declined this criminal, dishonest and unethical suggestion from him as an Attorney-General then”, Jakpa wrote.

He stated that the alleged attempt by Godfred Dame for him to testify in a dishonest way to implicate Dr Ato Forson, in his opinion, constituted fabrication of evidence.

Jakpa called on the CID to investigate Dame to face the full consequences if found to be culpable, because this is very necessary.

“This guy has done us 419” – Kofi Kapito fires Sam George over DStv prices

0

Kofi Kapito, the Chief Executive Officer of the Consumer Protection Agency (CPA), has fired shots at the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam Nartey George.

Additionally, Kamal-Deen Abdulai, the Deputy National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has quizzed Sam George on whether more channels mean the reduction he promised Ghanaians.

According to Kamal-Deen Abdulai, Sam George’s approach to the DStv subscription fees saga was wrong.

Speaking on Breakfast Daily on Channel One TV on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Kamal-Deen Abdulai stated, “To my brother Sam George, talk is cheap. You can do all the talking and raise your muscles, but trust that people stand by the law. When investors come into this country, they look for fine lawyers and engage them.

“They also engage tax experts and marketing experts. That is a serious investor’s approach. So, when you come up with threats, they don’t care. They will also go and consult their people. The whole thing then becomes like a fight,” he added.

He added, “At least he was lucky because the public was with him. All he needed to do was to water the grounds enough with the public and find a way of getting the public to issue statements to DStv.

“When they see that, they will know the public is serious. But he didn’t do that. Rather, he came out with threats, only for him to come at the last minute to announce that subscribers are going to enjoy more channels. Does more channel mean reduction?” he questioned.

Ghana’s inflation falls to a single digit for the first time in four years

0

Ghana’s consumer price inflation has fallen to a single digit for the first time in four years.

In September 2025, Ghana’s inflation extended a nine-month streak of declines.

Ghana’s September 2025 inflation stands at  9.4% down from 11.5% in August.

The slowdown has been largely driven by a decline in food prices, according to the Ghana Statistical Service.

Also, Ghana’s food inflation has fallen from 14.8% to 11%.

Non-food inflation has also dropped from  8.7% in August to 8.2%.

The continuous drop in inflation has already beaten the government’s full-year target.

The continuous drop in inflation strengthens prospects for monetary policy stability, exchange rate resilience, and improved consumer confidence.

Meanwhile, the last time Ghana enjoyed single-digit inflation was in August 2021.

However, the World Bank has warned the John Mahama-led government not to rush back to the Eurobond market.

According to the World Bank, international investors will see Ghana’s quick return to the World Bank as an easy way out.

The Bank urged the Mahama administration to fix Ghana’s economy to strengthen the country’s fiscal and growth fundamentals, and to convince the private sector that public debt is sustainable.

The World Bank stated, “Importantly, the new administration [Mahama Administration] should also refrain from a hasty return to the Eurobond market, which international investors would interpret as taking the easy way out,” the report said. “Instead, the government should focus on strengthening the country’s fiscal and growth fundamentals and on convincing the private sector… that public debt is on a sustainable path.”

“Sudden macroeconomic stops and crises have led the country to request a record number of IMF programmes, remaining under active IMF programmes for 40 out of its 68 years of history,” the Bank observed.

However, President John Mahama has already echoed during his media encounter that he was not in favour of an early return to the capital market.

According to John Mahama, Ghana has survived without going to the capital markets.

President Mahama stated, “We have survived without going to the capital markets. We’ve survived without borrowing. … As the President, I would not favour a quick return to the international capital market. I think we should go like this for a while and consolidate the economy before we look at external financing.”

Middlemen to blame for high food prices in urban areas – Agric Minister

0

Eric Opoku, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, has said middlemen are to blame for the high food prices in urban areas.

According to the Agric Minister, middlemen between the farmers and the urban area buy cheaply from farmers and sell at ‘throat-cutting’ prices to the consumers.

Eric Opoku highlighted that farmers are currently selling food crops at lower prices than at the start of harvest season.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Eric Opoku explained, “When you go to the production point, the farmers are complaining that they were selling a truck of yams at GH¢7,000. When they started harvesting, it came down to GH¢4,000, and it is now hovering around GH¢3,000 and GH¢2,000 at the farm gate”.

Eric Opoku added, “We have some people also posing as middlemen between the farmers and urban areas, and they are engaging in profiteering, trying to enjoy abnormal profit. They buy cheaply from the farmers and sell at ‘throat-cutting’ prices to the consumers. The prices are better than before”.

“When you get to the mall, some of the food items are imported, and the prices cannot be compared to those in the local market now because the local ones are now cheaper than the imported ones,” he stressed.

He further added, “We, as a government, have decided to produce to feed Ghanaians; they must reciprocate our gesture by eating Ghana for us”.

Also, the Minister of Food and Agriculture credited Ghana’s bumper harvest across the country to the Mahama government’s Feed Ghana Programme.

Eric Opoku added, “The farmers in many parts of the country are complaining that they have produced in quantities beyond the market there, and they are not getting buyers. In Asunafo South, the youth who participated in the Feed Ghana Programme came to me and said that they have been harvesting the rice in quantities, and they are looking for a market.

“So, it is not the case that these are isolated cases. What is happening now is a nationwide bumper harvest that Ghana is experiencing,” he said.

The Agric Minister explained, “We launched the Feed Ghana Programme. The first leg of that programme is to campaign for mass participation in the programme. We campaigned that individual households must have backyard gardens, and SHS must have school farms.

“From the beginning of the campaign up to today, we have on record that 129 SHS are participating. We also campaigned for church and faith-based organisations to enter the programme. We have records of churches, and we have some records that have directed their branches with fertile lands to participate in the programme. Even state agencies are participating,” he noted.

Eric Opoku further noted that the agriculture sector is largely private-sector-led.

He explained, “We must admit that the agricultural space is private sector-led. So when the government creates that continual atmosphere, and they take advantage of some of them, certainly, they see some of these things.

The weather has also been favourable, so the results are a bumper harvest, which we anticipated at the beginning of the programme”.

“No amount of cooking can remove toxic mercury in foodstuffs” – Toxicologist

0

Toxicologist Yakubu Adam has issued a blunt warning that no amount of cooking or seasoning can destroy mercury, a heavy metal found in foodstuffs.

Also, Prof Dr Paul Poku Sampene Ossei, a forensic Histopathologist and former Head of Pathology at KNUST and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), has revealed  500 spontaneous abortions linked to galamsey-related placental contamination.

According to him, his ongoing research links at least 500 cases of spontaneous abortions in Ghana to high levels of heavy metals in the placenta caused by galamsey activities.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, September 27, Prof. Sampene stated, “I have about 500 cases where women go to the hospital and abort their babies because of the concentration of these heavy metals in their placenta”.

“The placentas are all contaminated, polluted with heavy metals,” he said.

Prof. Sampene further highlighted the extent to which illegal mining activities are affecting maternal and child health.

He explained, “The placentas are all contaminated, polluted with heavy metals. I have examined over 4,000 of them from different regions in Ghana, and both the maternal side and the foetal side show these metals.”

“Do we have what it takes to even solve the kidney diseases that are coming out now? Dialysis is very expensive, and nobody gets it for free. Children are also being diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. These are the realities we have to face,” he cautioned.

He further revealed, “Most of them fear for their lives, but they tell me they are recording a lot of deformities in babies. This is very real.

If the child is at risk, let us see how best we can mitigate it so that the child will survive and live a quality life one day.

Otherwise, we will soon see people walking but with very high cognitive impairment. Mercury inhalation alone can damage the brain. We are seriously in trouble,” he warned.

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama invites Civil Society Organisations to a high-level engagement on illegal mining.

A netizen on social media has said the NPP delegates voting for former Assin Central member of parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, would be a gross unpardonable sin.

The netizen in his post on social media X shared a video of a man of God who fired shots at Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant.

The man of God recounted that Kennedy Agyapong rose against the church when COVID came, but today needs the church’s votes.

According to the man of God, Kennedy Agyapong, said he would close down all one-man churches if he were president of Ghana, leaving only Roman, Pentecostal and Methodist.

The Pastor confidently told the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that their only hope is the former vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Speaking to his congregant in a viral video shared on X, the Pastor detailed, “When Covid came, a man that I respected so much, more than any honourable in Ghana, Kennedy Agyapong, I even respected him more than any other men of God but when Covid came, this same man rose against the church, thinking he was disgracing the church, and he had the audacity to say that if he were the president, he would destroy all one-man churches in Ghana.

Today, that same man needs the church’s vote. If you are speaking, be careful. I am telling you, the only hope of NPP is Bawumia. The same man who rose against the church and Ghana is a Christian country, and this man rose singlehandedly against the church”.

The man of God further added, “He stated that if he were president, only Roman, Pentecostal and Methodist would be left to operate today, the same man needs people’s vote. I am not somebody who is afraid of the truth”.

The netizen in his post wrote, “Voting for Kennedy Agyapong as the flagbearer of the NPP would be a gross, irreparable, and unpardonable sin against the body of Christ and the good people of this country”.

Meanwhile, Bishop Sam Owusu has said that Kennedy Agyapong will win the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary polls scheduled for January 31, 2026 and lead the party as its flagbearer in the 2028 general elections.

According to Bishop Sam Owusu, Kennedy Agyapong will secure about 57.7% to win the NPP’s flagbearer.

The man of God revealed that President Mahama has been ordained to lay a solid foundation, but Kennedy Agyapong is the chosen one to build on and lead an industrial revolution in the country.

In a viral video, Bishop Sam Owusu stated, “Hear me, church, hear me and pray for him so that the mercies of God and the hand of God will continue to bring him to that place.

During the COVID time, I saw the man Kennedy Agyapong leading their party, and last month I mentioned it. And today, the Lord said I should mention it again. Church, hear me and pray for him.”

“I saw over 1 million young men that God has used him to lead, following him,” he added.

The man of God emphatically prophesied that Kennedy Agyapong will secure about “57.7%” of the votes to emerge the winner.

“I kept on prophesying about Kennedy Agyapong. It’s because I saw over 1 million young men that God has used him to lead them, and all of them are doing business,” he stressed.

His comments come following President John Dramani Mahama’s invitation to Civil Society Organisations to a high-level engagement on illegal mining.

The meeting is scheduled for Friday, 3rd October, 2025, at 12:00 noon at Jubilee House.

“Ken Agyapong’s anti-Christ actions undermining NPP” – Abronye

0

Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has accused former Assin Central MP and flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, of undermining NPP cohesion.

According to the statement issued by Justin Kodua, he has petitioned the National Disciplinary Committee of the NPP regarding Abronye’s conduct.

Justin Kodua noted that Abronye DC, the NPP Bono regional chairman, was hurting the party’s image and insulting party members by making baseless accusations against him.

Part of the statement, which was issued on September 30, 2025, reads, “Mr Baffoe is reported to have publicly insulted Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong, a distinguished member of the Party, with derogatory statements, including a claim that ‘even the elephant has more wisdom than Hon. Agyapong.’ Such remarks are unprintable, defamatory, and damaging to the reputation of Hon. Agyapong and the Party at large.

“Mr Baffoe further alleged that the General Secretary deliberately concealed a report that purportedly implicated Hon. Agyapong as the destroyer of the Party and recommended his expulsion. These allegations are false, malicious, and injurious to the integrity of the Office of the General Secretary,”

“Mr Baffoe has purported to disclose and misrepresent the contents of a Disciplinary Committee report, alleging that it catalogued various offences attributed to Hon. Agyapong. Such conduct constitutes a serious breach of confidentiality, discretion, decorum, and party discipline, while also undermining the authority of the Committee,” the statement added.

Abronye had earlier alleged that the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, is sitting on the 2023 Disciplinary Committee report concerning NPP flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong.

Barimah Saasi Ayeboafo II, the Chief of Mamponteng in the Ashanti Region, has hauled Pastor Samuel Henry, popularly known as Prophet Roja.

The Chief of Mamponteng filed a lawsuit against Prophet Roja over a prophecy predicting his death and the downfall of other chiefs.

In the writ of summons, which also names the Angel Broadcasting Network and Ali Baba Dankambary, a presenter at Angel FM, the chief is demanding a retraction of the prophecy, a public apology and GH¢10 million in damages for defamation.

Barimah Saasi Ayeboafo II is further seeking an injunction to prevent Prophet Roja, the presenter and Angel Broadcasting Network, from publishing similar pronouncements in the future.

He is also asking the court to compel the media house to delete all defamatory content from its platforms.

Prophet Roja, in a live broadcast on Kumasi-based Angel FM, declared that the Mamponteng Palace will face looming disaster.

According to him, the disaster would begin with the chief linguist and warn the chief himself could be the next to suffer misfortune.

In related news, Prophet Roja has made a name for himself following the tragic August Helicopter crash, and the passing of Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka which resurfaced two viral videos of Prophet Roja on social media.

In the first viral video, dated April 4, 2024, Prophet Roja urged Ghanaian leaders to reach out to Apostle Safo, highlighting that the man of God held the secret to Ghana’s economic recovery.

Prophet Roja stated, “Go and look for Apostle Safo. For over 24 years, the Lord has revealed to me that he holds the road to Ghana’s economic freedom. If you do not hurry and tap into it, the man will soon be called by his maker.”

On 12 September 2025, Prophet Roja dropped yet another video about Apostle Safo, with vivid imagery to describe what he had spiritually witnessed.

The man of God stated, “I have seen something… a big star enter into the clouds. When it entered the cloud, it did not come back. Then I saw a mantle descending from the cloud, but it did not fall on anybody. May his soul rest in peace. You are a legend; you fought so hard, and may the Lord give you rest. I have seen it, praise the Lord. I am going to pray for you, men of God.”

Also, Prophet Roja, has dropped yet another prophetic foretelling this time about the NDC and the Goldbod CEO Sammy Gyamfi.

According to Prophet Roja, Sammy Gyamfi will one day be sworn in as President of Ghana.

He gallantly emphasised that there is no condition on this, and no one can change this prophecy.

Prophet Roja revealed that Sammy Gyami has about eight years ahead of him before contesting, which he would win in a one-touch victory.

Speaking on Angel TV with Saddick Adams, Prophet Roja detailed, “I have said something about Ghana, if you like, record this video, one day, Sammy Gyamfi will be sworn in as the President.

It will not take long; he has eight years ahead. After eight years, he will contest, and that will be all. This is not a condition; no one can change this prophecy. If he stands for the NDC, it’s a one-touch win no one will try. If you like, record it”.

Prophet Roja confidently added, “All he has to do is to protect himself, that is all. It is a star that’s in his life”.

CID petitioned to investigate Jakpa, Justice Kulendi over alleged conspiracy

0

A private citizen has petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to investigate the Director of Special Operations at the National Security, Richard Jakpa, and Justice Yonny Kulendi.

Meanwhile, at a press conference on February 14 2025, Godfred Dame insisted that his advice to Jakpa to obtain a medical report was a genuine suggestion in light of Jakpa’s health condition.

Dame told journalists at the event, “Not knowing he himself had that illicit agenda and was secretly recording and was saying the things that he got on the tape, which came from him and not from me”.

“When he went, he actually obtained the adjournment because he was not well. So the fact of my asking him to obtain a medical certificate because he was not well was nothing but factual”, he explained.

“Publicly name MPs who allegedly contacted you” – 15 Eastern Region MPs dares Bryan Acheampong

0

The 15 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Eastern Region who have declared their support for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia have dared Dr Bryan Acheampong to publicly name MPS who allegedly contacted him.

Dr Bryan Acheampong, the Member of Parliament for Abetifi and a presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), had claimed that most of the 15 Members of Parliament who declared support for Bawumia called him afterwards.

He further revealed that he texted Dr Bawumia, warning him to fear delegates.

Dr Acheampong highlighted that in the Eastern region, 20,000 NPP delegates are voting and out of that, only 15 support Bawumia.

Speaking during his campaign run in Achiase in the Eastern Region, Dr Bryan Acheampong stated, “In the Eastern region, 20,000 delegates are voting here. Some days ago,  I heard 15 MPs in the Eastern Region declared their support for Bawumia. 20,000 people are voting here, and out of that, 15 are saying they are supporting someone else.

They even organised a press conference about it, and the truth is that after the press conference, they even called me. But I have texted Dr Bawumia to fear the delegates”.

He added, “In the Eastern Region, those 15 people who have declared support for another person, I will win their constituencies one by one. The one who led the press conference, this is his constituency, and I am going to win here as well. Kofi, wherever you are, can you hear your people are saying they will not vote for your man?”

However, the 15 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Eastern Region have replied to Bryan Acheampong.

According to the MPs, none of the 15 NPP MPs has called to plead with Bryan Acheampong.

Speaking in an interview on CITI News P for Achiasi, Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo stated, “None of the 15 NPP MPs has called to plead with him. We’re asking him to provide evidence to show the whole world those who went to him to plead for forgiveness”

“We’re also asking him to give us some evidence. From the investigations we did, there were no such text messages to the former Vice President,” he said.

Also, the 15 MPs, in a statement, also challenged Bryan Acheampong, “We challenge him, in the spirit of truth and accountability, to publicly name the MPs he alleges contacted him. Until then, his claim remains nothing but a fabrication”.

They further accused Bryan Aveampong of trying to project himself as the sole financier of the Eastern Region campaign.

The MPs argued that the money came from party financiers and businessmen who backed Dr Bawumia, with Acheampong only serving as a coordinator.

“What is more troubling is that what eventually reached MPs was less than what had originally been agreed upon, forcing us to dip into our own resources to keep the campaign alive”, they stated.

They further accused Acheampong of falsely telling polling station executives that monies meant for them were diverted by constituency executives and MPs.

The 15 MPs called on the central campaign team of Dr Bawumia’s 2024 bid to disclose exactly how much was handed to Bryan Acheampong for operations in the region and what the funds were earmarked for.

They further reaffirmed their loyalty to Dr Bawumia, “We remain firm, united, and unwavering in our support for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Bryan Acheampong’s allegations are calculated to serve his personal agenda. We call on him to retract his false claims immediately.”

Meanwhile, an aide to New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Ekua Amoakoh, has refuted claims that MPs endorsing the former vice president are being manipulated.

According to Dr Ekua Amoakoh, the complaints from rivals show they are panicking following the wave of MP endorsements in the Eastern Region.

She emphasised that rivals are creating the impression that the MPs are like clay to be moulded or manipulated.

Speaking on Channel One’s Newsroom on Friday, September 26, Dr Ekua Amoakoh stated, “In any contest, when you hear one side beginning to complain a lot and always make excuses, it just means one thing — that that side is losing.”

“I hate it when we create the impression that people are manipulable or that they are like clay in the hands of people to be moulded. I don’t think the MPs are children or that they can be manipulated to do A or B. For all of them to boldly come forward and speak to their constituents on behalf of His Excellency Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, I don’t think it’s a small thing.”

“I also see how our opponents will downplay this kind of event. It only means that it really hit them at the core of their campaigns”, she added.

Ken Agyapong, others face uphill task to catch up with Dr Bawumia – Mussa Dankwa

0

Mussa Dankwa, the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, has said Kennedy Agyapong and other contenders face a daunting task to catch up with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to Mussa Dankwa, it is still not over, but it is highly unlikely that every undecided voter will go to one candidate.

He highlighted that Dr Bawumia’s advantage will be difficult to overturn.

Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on Monday, September 29, Mussa Dankwa stated, “It is still not over. I won’t say it is over, but if you look at where the leading candidate is, it is highly unlikely that every undecided voter will go to one candidate”.

“We believe that Kennedy has to do a lot more to bring Dr Bawumia down, or his other competitors should do a lot more in order to drag Dr Bawumia from where he is,” he added.

Mussa Dankwa’s remarks come following a latest poll by the Global Info Analytics, which reveals Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President, has taken a commanding lead in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries.

The poll results published on social media platforms by the Global Info Analytics revealed that Dr Bawumia secured 47 per cent of delegate support and is the clear front-runner ahead of the NPP’s primaries.

Dr Bawumia continues to enjoy the confidence of nearly half of the delegates surveyed.

Kennedy Agyapong, the former Assin Central legislator, emerged second with 17 per cent of delegates’ support.

Dr Bryan Acheampong secured only 3 per cent of delegates’ votes, while Dr Yaw Adutwum and Ing Kwabena Agyapong secured 1 per cent of delegates’ votes respectively.

However, the poll revealed that a significant number of delegates, 27 per cent, remain undecided.

Also, the poll revealed  57 per cent of Ghanaians prefer former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the next general election.

“EOCO has confiscated 15 of my luxury cars” – Wontumi cries out

0

Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has revealed that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has seized 15 of his luxury cars.

It will be recalled that Wontumi was arrested by EOCO following a visit to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters on Tuesday, May 27, shortly after leaving the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Accra.

Justice Srem-Sai later revealed that Wontumi is also being investigated for an International organised crime scheme.

The Deputy Attorney General noted that EOCO is assiduously working with our international law enforcement partners on the second strand of criminal investigations.

According to Justice Srem-Sai, the ongoing investigation is being handled by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), with asset recovery efforts already underway to secure suspected proceeds of crime.

Chairman Wontumi was released from EOCO custody on June 2, after meeting his bail GHS50 million conditions.

According to Chairman Wontumi, EOCO has seized his vehicle for no reason.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Chairman Wontumi stated, “I have been quiet. As we are talking now, 15 of my cars have been confiscated by EOCO. I bought all the cars from Bright (sic). Bright (sic) is close to the NPP office at Asylum Down.

“He has the right registration. He paid the port fees and everything. My Bentley, Rolls-Royce, my Land Cruiser (have been taken), but I have been quiet because I don’t want to be talking about my own issues,” he said.

He added, “I want to end this conversation here. One day, God will speak for me.”

Also, Abigail Elorm Mensah, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), has revealed that three government vehicles have been retrieved from the residence of Chairman Wontumi.

The MASLOC CEO disclosed that the Centre, with support from National Security operatives, retrieved the three cars, with two yet to be recovered.

According to the MASLOC CEO, the initiative is part of efforts to recover government loans and vehicles from defaulters.

Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on September 10, Abigail Elorm Mensah stated, “I have gone with National Security operatives to the house of the Chairman of the NPP in Ashanti Region, Chairman Wontumi.

Three cars. In fact, the cars were five. We’ve retrieved three. I have collected all from his house. We are still chasing him for the two. He has to pay for them”.

“What we do is that once I seize the cars, the agreement we have with you is that you would have to repay whatever has accrued, and we release the cars to you,” she said.

MASLOC CEO added, “We’ve reported a lot of the issues to the police,” she confirmed.

She further revealed an incident involving a relative of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who allegedly refused to return a government Nissan Urvan.

“I have a situation where a brother of former Vice President Seidu Imoro picks a car and he is bold to tell us that ‘well, he has used the car to work and he’s bought his own, so if we want we could come for it.’ So we’ve seized it,” she added.

Alarm bells as wee packaged as tea bags are found in a first-year SHS student’s bag

0

Alexander Twum-Barimah, the Deputy Director-General of NACOC, has blown an alarm about how a wee package as tea bags was found in an SHS student’s bag.

According to Alexander Twum-Barimah, the incident happened to a Senior High School (SHS) student in the Eastern Region.

He detailed that a first-year Senior High School (SHS) student was caught with marijuana disguised as a tea bag, and hidden in his school bag.

Alexander Twum-Barimah revealed that NACOC has already set up offices in the Asamankese District, Adansi Municipality, and Ashanti Akim District to strengthen local response.

He highlighted that  NACOC, under the leadership of Brigadier General Mantey, is determined to reduce drug abuse among the youth.

The Deputy Director-General of NACOC added that the institution has identified a new tactic targeting young people, and has therefore called for keen vigilance among school authorities, parents, and students.

He further explained that the issue has extended beyond Senior High Schools, as reports show marijuana use is now spreading to basic schools.

Speaking on Woezor TV, broadcast on Sunday, September 28, 2025, Mr Twum-Barimah stated, “I went to Asamankese in the Eastern Region and during my conversation with the District Chief Executive, he mentioned that a form one student was coming to school and among his belongings, a wee tea bag was found”.

“There was a person that we contacted at that time, and we found a 16-year-old boy. He carried two sticks of marijuana. Sixteen? Two sticks. Why should that happen?” he questioned.

He further clarified that tramadol is not banned in Ghana, but the dosage is regulated by law.

He further added, “As I sit here, we have closed not less than six drug stores and two pharmacies. We will continue to close more,” he said.

“Tramadol usage is not illegal. But by law, you can use 50 mg or 100 mg maximum, and that should be on prescription by a physician. Dosages above 100 mg are not permitted,” he explained.

“We have a leadership that is determined to do what is right, and even if we cannot eradicate drug use completely, we will bring it to the barest minimum,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has closed down eight chemist shops across the country for selling high-dose tramadol.

In related news, the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has handed over 17 gold bars, valued at $1.7 million, to the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) at the Ministry of the Interior in Accra.

The gold bars were seized by officers of the Upper East Command of the Narcotics Control Commission at the Paga Border Post.

The two Burkinabe nationals were attempting to smuggle them out of the country.

Sammy Gyamfi, the Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, expressed gratitude to the Director-General of NACOC and called for continued support and collaboration.

“Does more channels mean reduction?” – NPP man quizzes Sam George on DStv deal

0

Kamal-Deen Abdulai, the Deputy National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has quizzed the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, over DStv subscription fees.

The NPP man quizzed Sam George on whether more channels mean the reduction he promised Ghanaians.

His remarks follow Samuel Nartey George, who announced that Ghanaian DStv subscribers will enjoy between 33% to 50% increased value.

According to Sam George, MultiChoice Africa has committed to an unprecedented increase in value offers specifically for the Ghanaian market.

Speaking at a media briefing, Sam George stated, “ MultiChoice Africa has committed to an unprecedented increase in value offer only in Ghana, which will result in Ghanaian DStv subscribers getting more services for less”.

Premium subscribers will retain current content and also entry into a draw to win fully paid trips to selected Premier League matches.

Sam George, the Minister for Communications, has weighed in on the recent price adjustment by Multichoice DSTV.

The Minister, in an interview, expressed discontent with those who continue to criticise the new pricing, emphasising that the adjustments are a step in the right direction.

According to Sam George, some people don’t like him, and so they won’t accept the reduction because it came from him.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Point of View on Monday, September 29, 2025, Sam George stated, “I don’t understand why anyone would have a problem if somebody wants to pay 865 cedis to get into a raffle. Bernard people go and bet on football matches and stake more than 1000 cedis on one game.

So if the person chooses to stake 865 for a month, what is your problem? If you cannot afford 865 cedis, there is 570 cedis, which still gives you the same value. So, you can choose to pay 865 cedis or choose to pay 570 cedis”.

“There are people who don’t like Sam George, and so they won’t accept the reduction because it came from me, so they can pay the 865 cedis. Those who are patriotic citizens and appreciate the work of a good government that is working for them will pay their 570 and still get their premium content”, he added.

Sam George further added, “I have heard people say that DStv has done this before; that is not correct. That is why the presser I did, I said this is unprecedented in DStv’s own marketing modules.”

“What DStv has normally done is that you must be an active subscriber, you must renew before the expiration of your current subscription, and you enjoy it for only one month. What we have done with them is a bouquet agonistic,” he said.

“There was a general apathy, and you cannot blame Wontumi for that. Even in our worst performance, tell me one region that beat the Ashanti Region”.

He further added, “Everybody knows how I campaigned in the lead-up to the last election. I never slept, visiting people’s homes at odd hours. Look, I spent a lot to ensure our party wins power, but unfortunately, it didn’t happen.”

According to Chairman Wontumi, he is the right man to bring the opposition party back to power in 2028.

“I did it for the party in 2016, and I am poised to do it again in 2028.”

In related NPP news, a latest poll by the Global Info Analytics has revealed Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President, has taken a commanding lead in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries.

Man busted for operating a clinic from his home for over 12 years without medical training

0

A 48-year-old man has been arrested for operating a clinic from his home for over 12 years without a medical licence.

The 48-year-old man has been identified as Hanson Osei.

He was arrested for operating a clinic in his chamber and hall for over 12 years without a medical licence.

Reports suggest that during police interrogation, he boldly admitted to treating people without any training from a recognised medical school.

The news was shared by Ghana Chronicles on X, which reads, “A 48-year-old man, Hanson Osei, has been arrested for operating a “clinic” in his chamber and hall room for over 12 years without a medical licence.

During police interrogation, he boldly admitted to treating people without any training from a recognised medical school”.

Some Ghanaians have reacted to the story, saying, “Questions, how many fatalities has he recorded? What’s the distance & state of the hospital closest to him? What do people see in him that made them patronise him for 12 years? Get witnesses and get your answer. Apart from not being licensed, he may be saving lives”.

Another stated, “Twelve years of running a clinic in a chamber and hall without a license? This is beyond risky, it’s dangerous. Health isn’t trial and error. Authorities must crack down harder, and some Ghanaians must stop gambling with unqualified hands when lives are at stake”.

A netzine added, “They should then arrest all these herbal doctors also. There’s no difference between them and Me. Hanson”.

“They should arrest those who go there for medical treatment too”, another netizen wrote.

One more X user added, “If the community had access to a healthcare facility, would they have patronised that shambolic service?

They’ve been voting for decades, yet something as basic as a medical centre is not available.

We have failed our people!”

Additionally, a Ghanaian added, “If the people are receiving better treatment and not complaining, then we don’t see any problems with you arresting him.

People have knowledge of inventions, but they have never been in an innovation training program or course”.

In related news, the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana (MDC) has revealed quackery as a major challenge affecting medical practice in Ghana.

The MDC revealed that between 2024 and the third quarter of 2025, four individuals have been arrested for unlicensed medical practice.

Also, several others remain under investigation, with prosecution pending.

The Medical and Dental Council of Ghana also raised concerns about forged qualifications by individuals attempting to gain clearance to practice in Ghana.

According to the MDC,  they are working with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to introduce a name tag and stamp policy by 2026 for all health practitioners.

The management of the Tamale Teaching Hospital has been exposed for validating and paying a dead man for 26 months.

Meanwhile, the Auditor-General’s (A-G) report has also revealed that the hospital paid salaries amounting to GHS 1,449,000 to a deceased staff member for a period of 26 months

Lawyer Owusu Badu sworn in as acting Chairman of the General Council of the Kristo Asafo Mission

Lawyer Festus Owusu Badu has been sworn in as acting Chairman of the General Council of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana.

He has been tasked with carrying forward the legacy of the Church’s late founder, Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

In a viral video, Lawyer Festus Owusu Badu was clothed in a beautiful kente as he was sworn in as the chairman.

His swearing in was greeted with loud cheers from the Kristo Asafo Mission congregants.

The late Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s death was announced on Sunday, 14, 2025.

The news was announced in a statement by Sarah Adwoa Safo (former MP for Dome Kwabenya).

According to the statement, Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo passed away peacefully on Thursday, 11th September 2025.

In related news, A former member of the Kristo Asafo Church has called on Church members to wake up, as the late Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo was not God.

According to the lady, she was once a member of this church and deeply involved in this idolatry.

She revealed they prayed through him instead of through Jesus.

The former member of the Kristo Asafo Church urged members to repent as the Kingdom of God is at hand, adding that Jesus alone is the way, the truth, and the life.

Speaking in a viral video following the death of Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo the lady stated, “I deeply empathise with you over the passing of Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo, but you must wake. Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo was not God. The reason why I am so passionate about speaking about this today, idolatry,  I was part of this church, I worshipped him.

In fact, I remember that, growing up, when I was sick in any part of my body, we were taught to take a picture of Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo, fetch a glass of water, put this picture on the glass of water and pray to Apostle Kwadwo Safo to heal us, we believed he was a god, we believe he was the survivor”.

She further added, “Today, on his passing, I am led to make this video to encourage you to find a church; you need Jesus Christ; he is the only one true God. Jesus died, but on the third day he rose again, and Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo has died now, and he will not resurrect.

I have seen some videos about reincarnation. People are saying he would reincarnate. I am sorry, it is nonsense.

Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo is dead. He was human, he was flesh just like you and I, he was not a God. The fact that he had some wisdom to be able to make some technological inventions did not mean he was God”.

She further added that there are so many branches of the Kristo Asafo Church all over the world, and her heart bleeds, “For the thousands of people going to hell because they believe the lie that Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo was God, please wake up. I am pleading with you, give your life to Christ and repent from this idolatry”.

Abronye DC referred to the NPP’s disciplinary committee

0

Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has referred Kwame Baffoe, commonly known as Abronye DC, to the party’s disciplinary committee.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has run from comments made by Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi) of the Ashanti Region and Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC of the Bono Region.

Chairman Wontumi is reported to have said the NPP’s decision to hold the presidential primaries on January 31, 2026, was designed to favour a particular aspirant.

Also, Abronye has claimed he compiles the Bono Regional album, and he will prevent certain individuals from voting in the January 31, 2026, primaries.

However, the NPP reiterates its dedication to transparency, fairness, and integrity in all internal processes.

According to the NPP, no individual has control over the compilation of polling station albums, and we refute claims that the January 31, 2026, presidential primaries date favours any aspirant.

They further assured stakeholders that every decision is made in the supreme interest of the Party to ensure unity and victory in 2028.

The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has claimed the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, is sitting on the 2023 Disciplinary Committee report concerning NPP flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong.

He claimed the party’s disciplinary committee recommended the sacking of Kennedy Agyapong from the party.

According to Abronye, Justin Kodua is the one saving Kennedy Agyapong from being sacked from the NPP.

They further assured stakeholders that every decision is made in the supreme interest of the Party to ensure unity and victory in 2028.

In a statement released on Sunday, September 28, 2025, General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua stated, “The National Leadership of the New Patriotic Party urges the public and its stakeholders to disregard recent public pronouncements by the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, and the Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, as their statements do not represent the ideals and practices of the party.

“The Party wishes to categorically state that no individual, irrespective of rank or position, has a monopoly or unilateral control over the compilation of polling station albums,” portions of the statement read.

The statement added, “For the avoidance of doubt, the compilation of the polling station album strictly adheres to established compliance procedures. The National Secretariat will, at the appropriate time, issue clear and transparent guidelines, protocols, and procedures designed to safeguard integrity, credibility, and fairness at every stage of the process.

“We wish to assure all stakeholders, particularly polling station executives across the country, that such pronouncements should be disregarded and treated with the utmost contempt they deserve”.

“The Party affirms that this assertion is unfounded. The National Council exhaustively deliberated and took the decision in the Party’s supreme and strategic interest. Given the calibre of the members of the National Council, no individual can manipulate or influence a decision in his or her favour,” the statement added.

The NPP statement concluded by stating that, “The decision to hold an early congress is intended solely to provide the Party with sufficient time and strategic advantage to reorganise, reposition, and recapture power in 2028. The Party remains resolutely committed to upholding transparency, fairness, and internal democracy in all its processes. Leadership will continue to ensure that every stage of our electoral activities reflects the highest standards of integrity and credibility”.

I fired my wife and son from my company – Ken Agyapong

0

Kennedy Agyapong, a Ghanaian businessman and former member of parliament for Assin Central, has recounted how he fired his wife and son from his company.

Speaking at a gathering, Ken Agyapong revealed that his son did not have time for his business and that anytime he visited, his son was not around due to his other engagements.

He recounted that he told the lawyer to pay his wife and son, but afterwards he fired them.

The NPP presidential aspirant stated, “My son is doing very well; he does the Afrochella, whatever, Americans gave him a contract to recruit Africans, so he does not have time for my business. Anytime I go there, he is not around.

So, I said, thank God you are doing your own business, I have fired him and the mother too” Kennedy Agyapong’s remark drew loud laughter from the crowd.

He added, “Now I told the mother whatever money you were getting, the lawyer give the same money to her, but she is out, and my son is also out. The worker over there knows that I fired my wife and son.

That is how I manage to get things done. I am very strict, so the message is clear: if you work with me, I will treat you well, but if you try to be dishonest or dupe me, I will get you fired”.

Ken Agyapong, some months ago, in an interview, also warned young entrepreneurs to avoid doing business with family members.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, if one wants to succeed in Ghana, he or she must not do business with family members except their wife or children.

He noted that family ties can pose dangerous risks to business performance and accountability.

Speaking on the Konnected Minds Podcast, Mr Agyapong stated, “If you want to succeed here, especially in Ghana, don’t rely on your relatives or involve your brothers, sisters, or family members in your business—except maybe your children or wife”.

Mr Agyapong further added that people settle too easily and urged Ghanaians to be willing to do more and work for longer hours.

In a separate interaction, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has said politics is no longer attractive in Ghana.

The former lawmaker expressed his disappointment with the current state of politics in Ghana, adding that he wouldn’t advise his children to pursue a career in it.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, many politicians do not speak the truth, which has eroded public trust in them, making politics unattractive.

Speaking at the National Emerging Leaders Economic Forum on Monday, September 22, 2025, Kennedy Agyapong stated, “Politics is no longer attractive, and I would never advise any of my children to go into it”.

Kennedy Agypong further called on Ghanaian youth to take charge of their lives.

He added, “The youth are overdependent on government for their survival; they need to take charge of their lives”.

Kennedy Agyapong also advised Ghanaian youths they cannot depend on the government alone to become rich or successful.

Mr Agyapong made these remarks while talking about his plans for the youth, focusing on creating an enabling environment that will reduce the youth’s dependence on the government.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, he would ensure that the youths who want to go into business will have startup capital.

Mr Agyapong detailed, “As a businessman, I have come to realise that the youth are not given opportunities. When you talk of youth unemployment, all those agencies, unless the government creates an enabling environment, so that the youths can take advantage of it.

The youths are overdependent on the government; no youth depending on the government alone can survive or be a rich or successful person”.

He added, “You have to take your destiny into your own hands and make sure that you take advantage of what is going on and move ahead; don’t wait.  What I will also be doing is to find ways for the youths to have startup capital for Ghanaian youths who want to venture into business”.
