A video has surfaced on social media capturing an accident victim pleading for help following a crash on the Accra-Kumasi highway.
Reports suggest the accident occurred after a broken-down vehicle was left on the road without being towed away.
Another car rammed into the stationary vehicle, resulting in a heavy collision.
In the viral footage shared on social media, the victim, who was trapped inside one of the crash vehicles, was heard crying out, appealing to bystanders who came to the scene to take videos.
“Bossu, help me. The video is not important,” the victim is heard saying.
The bystander taking the video then stated, “We have called the fire service, they are coming, so be patient, the towing car is coming, so we can remove you”.
The video has since sparked outrage online, with many social media users condemning the act of filming the accident, saying, “This is so sad, he isn’t even making any attempts to help him”.
“You see? Social media will be the end of us. Talking a video to post instead of helping a dying person. It’s hard!”, a netizen added.
“One thing about accidents. If you are not careful, you will rather make the victim lose his life in the process of trying to help. So for me, it was good they waited for experts.
But the video was unnecessary!!!”, another X user noted.
“People taking videos of you instead of helping you out, the world is advanced now everybody wants money bro”, one more Ghanaian added.
One more netizen wrote, “Why are some people blaming the guy for taking a video? Did you hear what he said? They’ve been able to get one person out, but the other people need to be rescued by the fire service due damage the cabin sustained….Do you people think at all?”
“The person recording could have just remained calm and engaged the I Jared person in a conversation, giving him some assurance of help coming. The recording was very unnecessary and would have a negative effect on the mental state of the victim”, a netizen added.
Additionally, another X user added, “Stop taking the video and help the man”
But in the process of being professional, you will endanger the whole situation. First Aid must be taught from Junior high school in Ghana. We are far behind, and nobody cares”.
