The Agona Swedru District Court has remanded two students involved in the alleged assault of a student of Obrachire Senior High Technical School during an inter-schools sports festival.
The suspects are remanded Benedict Appiah, 18 yrs, and Bilal Mamud, 18 yrs.
The case was presided over by His Worship Victor Kusi on Wednesday February, 25, 2026.
The two are facing charges of conspiracy to commit assault and assault.
Benedict Appiah and Bilal Mamid’s legal team’s request for bail was denied, and they have been remanded into police custody to reappear before the court on March 11, 2026.
However, a third suspect, Joseph Amoh, reports suggest preliminary police investigations indicate he was attempting to protect the victim and was not put before the court, but remains under investigation.
It will be recall the Ghana Police Service has announced that the three students of the Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) arrested for the assault on a student of Obrachire Senior High Technical School will be put before the court.
The three suspect has been identified as Joseph Amoh, 20; Benedict Appiah, 18; and Bilal Mamud, 18, students of Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS).
In a statement released on Tuesday, February 24, the Police wrote, “THREE STUDENTS ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH ASSAULT ON OBRACHIRE SHS STUDENT CAPTURED IN THE VIRAL VIDEO.
Following an engagement between the Director-General/CID, COP/Ms. Lydia Yaako Donkor, and the management of Swedru School of Business on 23/02/2026, about 9:00 pm of the same day, the authorities of Swedru School of Business brought to the Swedru Divisional Police Command three suspects, all students in the aforementioned school;
1. Joseph Amoh, 20 yrs
2. Benedict Appiah, 18 yrs
3. Bilal Mamud, 18 yrs.
The suspects were arrested and will be put before court
The Central Regional Command wishes to once again condemn the conduct of the students involved and urge the public, especially students, against engaging in acts of violence”.
Meanwhile, the assaulted victim during a district inter-schools athletics competition has demanded justice.
In the video shared by TV3, the victim, identified as Fiadzigbe, was captured with a broken tooth and multiple facial injuries.
According to the victim, he did not provoke them as he was just looking for a place to sit and to apply his medicine to his eyes.
Speaking to TV3 Ghana, the victim recounted his ordeal, “They threw stones at me when I was looking for a place to sit so that I could use some medicine on my eye. It happened unexpectedly,” he said.
“I wasn’t looking. When I turned, I saw my colleagues running, but I didn’t know what was happening. By the time I realised, a stone came to hit me,” he shared.
“I want them to be arrested, and anything that the government wants to do to them should be done,” the victim added.
