Christian Tetteh Yohunu, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), has said officers of the Ghana Police Service can no longer be bribed.
According to IGP Yohunu, anyone who attempts to bribe a Police Officer in the line of duty will be disgraced.
He stressed that Police Officer now prefer to be promoted for good behaviour rather than accept bribes.
Speaking at an event, the Inspector General of Police stated, “Today, I assure you, you cannot bribe a policeman anymore. If you attempt to bribe a police man, he will disgrace you. They all want to be promoted for good behaviour”.
“We want to be one of the best police in the world, and we are carving that image, which generation upon generation will follow, so that we get our glory back and make everybody in Ghana proud,” he said.
Meanwhile, in recent weeks, the IGP has been promoting Police Officers who demonstrated exceptional professionalism and dedication.
The IGP earlier promoted seventeen Police Officers in recognition of their exemplary conduct, professionalism, and dedication to duty.
IGP Yohuno promoted the officers to their next ranks today, 14th January 2026.
On Wednesday, January 14, 2025, the Police service in a post on social media stated, “The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, on 14th January 2026, promoted seventeen Police Officers, including two(2) Senior Officers, to their next ranks in recognition of their exemplary conduct, professionalism, and dedication to duty.
The promotions were granted in appreciation of the officers’ distinguished performance in the discharge of their responsibilities, particularly their commitment to operational excellence, discipline, and service to the nation.
The gesture forms part of the Service’s broader effort to motivate personnel who demonstrate outstanding commitment and integrity in the line of duty.
They encouraged all personnel of the Service to continue upholding the highest standards of professionalism, loyalty, and service to the public”.
Subsequently, the IGP later promoted thirty-five Police Officers for their role in the Adabraka Gold Robbery arrests.
According to the police, the promotions were awarded to personnel who demonstrated exceptional professionalism, dedication, and teamwork during operations.
The Police Service in a post on X wrote, “IGP PROMOTES THIRTY-FIVE (35) POLICE OFFICERS FOR ROLE IN ADABRAKA GOLD ROBBERY ARRESTS
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, on 15th January 2026, promoted thirty-five police officers in recognition of their outstanding role in the arrest of suspects involved in the Adabraka gold robbery in Accra.
The promotions were awarded to personnel who demonstrated exceptional professionalism, dedication, and teamwork during operations that led to the arrest of suspects linked to the high-profile daylight robbery at a jewellery shop in Adabraka in November 2024”.
