The Ghana Police Service has approved new uniforms for private security operators.
In the Police directive aimed at curbing impersonation and clarifying public identity, they warned operators to desist from wearing uniforms that have resemblance to state security agencies.
The Ghana Police Service in a statement shared on social media stated, “The general public and all private security operators are hereby notified that the in accordance with Regulation 12 of the Police Service (Private Security Organizations) Regulations, 1992 (LI.1571), the approved uniform turnouts for use by all private security operators/employees across the country are those under listed (photograph attached);
i. White Long/Short Sleeve Shirt over a pair of Ash Khaki Trousers with white stripes on both sides.
ii. A Cream Long/Short Sleeves Shirt over Brown khaki Trousers with Cream stripes on both sides.
iii. A Mauve Long/Short Sleeve Shirt over a pair of Maroon Trousers with Mauve stripes on both sides.
iv. A Yellow shirt with Ash/Grey Reflectors across the back and front over a Brown pair of Khaki trousers (solely for the Mines and Oil fields).
Any other uniform, colour combination, design, or turnout not listed above and has resemblance to the uniforms of any state security agency is deemed unauthorised.
All private security operators are required to comply strictly with the above approved uniform specifications, and in-house security should as well desist from wearing uniforms which have some resemblance to state security agencies.
Offenders shall be liable to sanctions as prescribed by law.
The public is also encouraged to take note of these approved uniforms and report any suspected violations to the appropriate authorities”, the Police statement concluded.
In related news, the Police has announced the arrest of three suspects in connection with a robbery incident at Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region.
A Police statement issued on February 4, 2026, revealed that the robbery took place on January 18, 2026, when two armed robbers attacked a residence in the area.
The Police disclosed that the two iPhone 17 Pro Max mobile phones, a gold necklace, an Apple Watch, GH¢14,000 in cash, a car key and US$300.
In a post on X, the Ghana Police stated, “THREE SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR KWABENYA ROBBERY.
Three suspects have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service through the National Operations Directorate (NOD) Surveillance Unit in connection with a robbery at Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region.
On 18th January 2026, two armed robbers attacked a home in Kwabenya. They stole two iPhone 17 Pro Max mobile phones, a gold necklace, an Apple Watch, GH¢14,000.00 in cash, a car key, and US$300.
The robbers also forced the victim to log out of his iCloud account from one of the stolen phones”.
The Police statement further added, “The suspects, Francis Amo (alias Agogo), Anthony Boateng (alias Aisha Kojo), and Musah Ibrahim (alias Coded), believed to be a receiver, have admitted their involvement in the crime”.
“Items recovered include one iPhone 17 Pro Max, one Apple Watch, and one Samsung Fold phone. Further search at suspect Anthony Boateng’s residence led to the discovery of offensive weapons, including a truncheon, a short machete, knives, scissors, lighters, and a face shield.
The suspects are currently in police custody assisting investigations, while efforts are ongoing to retrieve the remaining stolen items and arrest any other persons connected to the crime”, the Police statement concluded.
