GhanaWeb turns unpaid ads into public shaming ad banners

NewsGhanaWeb turns unpaid ads into public shaming ad banners

GhanaWeb, Ghana’s Leading Online News Platform, Adopts Unconventional Tactic to Collect Ad Payments from Defaulting Companies

GhanaWeb, Ghana’s leading online news website, is adopting an unconventional approach to demand payments from companies that have run or placed advertisements on the platform.

The platform, owned and operated by Superweb Technologies Ltd—a Ghanaian-owned company—is running advertisements on its site to call out companies that have defaulted on payments.

Currently, two companies, the Chartered Institute of Realtors and KOJACH Limited, have been issued a two-week final demand notice in the form of an ad banner.

“Demand Notice: Superweb Technologies Issues Final Demand for Outstanding Arrears to the Chartered Institute of Realtors – Immediate Payment Required to Avoid Legal Action,” the ad banner reads.

The ad banners are also accompanied by a written story that reads

“Superweb Technologies Ltd., operators of GhanaWeb, respectfully request the leadership or designated representatives of the Chartered Institute of Realtors to urgently contact our Commercial or Finance Department.

This is to address outstanding arrears related to your business engagement with GhanaWeb.

We kindly urge you to treat this matter with urgency to enable a swift and amicable resolution.

Please note that failure to contact us and resolve this issue within two weeks will compel us to explore all available legal options against your establishment.

We appreciate your prompt attention and look forward to your response.”
