Ken Agyapong has concede defeat in the NPP Presidential Primaries following early projections placing Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in a commanding lead.
According to Ken Agyapong, God’s time is the best, and he knows what is good for the NPP.
He further acknowledged the outcome of the party’s presidential primary, adding that he was prepared win or lose.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, January 31, Ken Agyapong stated, “I am a veteran politician, so I know. I have gone through several defeats, so I cushion myself and expected the worst, and the worst has happened, but the worst doesn’t mean that is the end of life.
“So keep faith alive and be happy with the outcome. Who knows what will happen tomorrow…The delegates have spoken, and we have to take it. We don’t know what is in store for us tomorrow.”
Ken added. “I want to take this opportunity to thank Team Ken for the wonderful work you’ve done. We all admit we worked hard, but God’s time is the best. He knows what is good for us. I know most of you are dejected; you have to keep your spirit up because once we have life, we have everything. I have taken it coolly because in politics you can win, you can lose”.
“Do not use this against anybody in the party. Once they have decided, let’s all come together as party members and work together. Don’t say that ‘no Ken, no vote.’ If it had been Ken, what would other contestants’ supporters have said? So ‘no Ken, no votes’ should be out. Let’s come together as one people,” he added.
He further recognised the contributions of his team, saying, “So, especially Team Ken, the good works that you’ve done, I want to show my appreciation, and at an appropriate time we will meet and dine together”.
Meanwhile, early projections show former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the lead with over 56%, with Ken Agyapong and the other trailing in his shadow.
In related news, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong has described the provisional results of the party’s flagbearer race as disappointing.
Speaking after results began trickling in on Saturday, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong stated, “I would say that the results are very disappointing, but it is politics. I take pride in your dedication, your efforts, your commitment to this strategy.”
“I am comfortable that at the end of the day, the majority of the party has made a decision. It is now time for us to work in harmony, respect for one another, work together, and present the best version of ourselves to the Ghanaian people so we can earn their respect and trust.”
“We’ve received most of the results of this election. I have just called Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to congratulate him on the victory, and we are awaiting the official statement from the EC,” he added.
