NewsGTEC Boss 'hot' as he faces scrutiny over his own "Prof" title

It will be the “pot calling the kettle black” if the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission Boss Professor Ahmed Jinapo is found guilty and striped of his “Prof” title.

Professor Ahmed Jinapo, who has recently gained public attention for cracking down on the misuse of academic titles, is now facing scrutiny over his own credentials.

Among those previously directed by GTEC to seize use in such titles are Deputy Health Minister Dr. Ayunsu, CEO of the Chamber of Minds Kenneth Ashigbe, Rashid Tanku Computer, NDC Central Regional Chairman Richard Kofi Isiodu, and Wa Municipal Hospital’s Medical Superintendent Bukari Zakari.

Just days ago, GTEC also released a list of 50 local and foreign tertiary institutions it described as unaccredited, sparking public debate over what many have called Professor Jinapos’ fixation with academic legitimacy.

Now he finds himself under the same microscope. In a letter dated October 24, 2025, addressed to the chairman of the GTEC Governing Board, Petitioner Kwame Simpe Ofori, requested full details of Professor Jinapo’s academic qualifications, including his terminal degree, awarding institutions and the publications that supported his promotions to associate and later full professor.
