“Human are made in 9 months, yet NDC in 10 months have failed to end galamsey” – Ahiagbah

News“Human are made in 9 months, yet NDC in 10 months have failed to end galamsey” – Ahiagbah

Richard Ahiagbah, the Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has fired shots at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government over their failure to end galamsey.

According to Richard Ahiagbah, human beings are made in 9 months, yet the NDC in 10 months have failed to end galamsey.

The NPP Director of Communications is quoted by GHOne TV as saying, “ A human being is made in 9 months, yet NDC hasn’t been able to end galamsey in 10 months”.

Also,  Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has claimed that illegal mining (galamsey) is now worse under the John Mahama-led government than it was under the NPP.

The NPP General Secretary boldly claimed that any reasonable person in this country will admit that the state of galamsey is now even worse than it was under the NPP administration.

According to him, the NPP cares so much about this country, and their doors are always open if the President sees the need to reach out for a proper round-table discussion on how to combat this menace.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, stated, “It is clear that galamsey has become worse under this administration. They have Members of Parliament who belong to the NDC, they have national officials from the NDC, the region, who are involved in galamsey.

It’s not surprising that the security agencies are struggling to deal with that issue, because when they make efforts, they are threatened by powers that be in this government,” he said.

He added, “If His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama sees the need and wisdom to reach out to us, we are ever ready for a proper roundtable discussion to deal with this matter once and for all,” he added.

In related galamsey news, two journalists accompanying the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on an anti-illegal mining mission are critically injured after an attacked by a group of galamseyers.

According to reports, the incident happened near Obuasi after the team was attacked by a group of miners at Dadwene, a community near Obuasi.

The EPA officers and journalists, under pressure, retreated for safety.

Reports suggest that as the EPA team made their way through Afari, the situation worsened when one of the vehicles was involved in an accident.

Several were injured, including two journalists in critical condition following the crash.

Ibrahim Abubakar, the Ashanti Regional Correspondent for Media General, and another reporter from Adom News were caught up in the incident.

Speaking in an interview on TV3 on November 6, 2025, the CEO of EPA, Prof Klutse, explained, “We saw some heavily built men, many of them approaching with guns. We had military personnel and national security officers with us, but we realised we couldn’t exchange fire, so we had to run for our lives”.

“In the course of fleeing, while speeding on the road, one of our vehicles, which had some EPA staff and journalists on board, collided head-on with a truck that was carrying pipes believed to be used for the galamsey operations,” Prof. Klutse recounted.

“We thank God that everyone is alive. Unfortunately, some sustained injuries. The most critical case involves a Joy TV cameraman who suffered a broken thigh. Your correspondent, Abubakar, had chest pains but is responding well to treatment.

“Adom TV correspondent Joseph sustained a head injury and is also responding to treatment. Some EPA staff members were also injured in the accident, and we have spoken with the doctors and nurses in charge to ensure they receive special attention,” she added.
