“I am a democratic dictator in Gomoa” – Kwame A-Plus declares

News“I am a democratic dictator in Gomoa” – Kwame A-Plus declares

Kwame Asare Obeng, commonly known as Kwame A-Plus, the member of parliament for Gomoa Central, has boldly stated he is a democratic dictator in his constituency.

According to Kwame A-Plus, he desires to leave a legacy for his constituency and Ghana.

He asserted that in his constituency, everyone has an opinion, but he decides whether to take them or not, adding that his say is final.

Speaking in a recent interview shared on social media, Kwame A-Plus stated, “Look at me, I am a democratic dictator in Gomoa. You may have your opinion, but I decide to take it or not; it is not by force. When I give an order, everyone must also follow without that the country will not develop.

I just want to leave a legacy for my constituency and Ghana, so whatever I say is final. We have to build the country, and this is the man John Mahama is; he wants to build and leave a legacy for the next generation”.

Kwame A-Plus further bemoaned the fact that he could not wrap his head around President John Dramani Mahama’s declaration that he has no intention of running for a third term in office.

He argued that countries like China or the UAE would not have achieved massive development if they held elections as frequently as Ghana.

The Gomoa Central MP added, “I don’t even understand why Mahama said he wouldn’t contest for a third term. Why do we always vote for four years? Do you think China would have developed if elections were held every four years? People would just sit on social media writing long posts about the constitution and other issues. Do you think the UAE would be doing so well if elections were held every four years?” he asked.

He highlighted that one of Africa’s biggest challenges is how democracy is practised, saying, “The biggest problem in Africa is the kind of democracy we practice. Democracy is about consensus-building, and as long as we can reach consensus, that’s democracy.

All the Ahsanti say their King is the Otumfuo, that is democracy. If we can’t reach a consensus, then we put it to a vote. Look at the amount of money spent on voting then vetting, the white man knows what they are doing to the black man, not to develop.

The white people developed their country before introducing democracy. After their country was on autopilot, that is when they started democracy,” he said.

According to Kwame-A, Plus left to himself alone, Kwame Nkrumah would have been Ghana’s president until the time he died.

“If we are going to sit in Africa and say, because of Democracy, we will vote all the time, we are not going to be developed. If Kwame Nkrumah had not been overthrown, I would not have been an MP, but Ghana would have developed. Let me alone, Kwame Nkrumah would have been president until the time he died”, he added.
