Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the 2024 running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has given a massive vote of confidence to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the party’s presidential election.

According to Napo, the former vice president was the wisest and smartest person in Akufo-Addo’s cabinet.

Speaking to NPP delegates ahead of the party’s presidential primaries, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh stated, “ I, Matthew Opoku Prempeh, I have serve Cabinet for seven and a half years. It got to a time I was taking one policy to the Cabinet every week. They were even tired of me.

I have never seen anyone in Cabinet as wise and smart as Dr Bawumia”.

Also, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, the former Minister of Tourism, has boldly predicted that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will win the NPP’s primaries with close to 70 per cent of the votes on January 31, 2026.

The former member of parliament asserted that although all five aspirants are qualified, Dr Mahamdud Bawumia stands tall among them.

According to Egyapa Mercer, party structures across the country point to overwhelming grassroots support for the former Vice President.

Egyapa Mercer further noted that the NPP contest should not be a question of competence alone, but of who best positions the party for victory in 2028.

He detailed that Dr Bawumia’s exposure as Vice President of Ghana and flagbearer in the 2024 Election gives him an advantage over his competitors.

Speaking on Metro TV on Thursday, January 22, Andrew Egyapa Mercer stated, “All five aspirants are qualified, but Bawumia stands tall when you look at experience, national appeal and readiness to lead”

“From what we are seeing on the ground, Dr Bawumia is likely to win with close to 70 per cent of the votes. The support base is very strong,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mussa Dankwah, the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, has declared Dr Mahamudu Bawumia the winner of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Mr Dankwah expressed unwavering confidence in his organisation’s polls.

According to him, he remains calm and unshaken despite different poll opinions and prophecies.

Mussa Dankwah stated, “I am not shaken. Not the slightest vein in my blood is shaken, and I am absolutely sure,” he stated emphatically.

He further recounted a text he had with a friend from the Central Region via WhatsApp, expressing concern over the primaries’ outcome. he responded reassuringly: “Even me, I’m eating and sleeping, so he should relax.”

Mussa Dankwah further explained their approach to the NPP polls. “We relied on direct calls to delegates from the NPP album, reaching approximately 500 delegates per day. We limited ourselves to the polling station because they are more eager to talk than the regional and constituency executives,” he said.
