“I saw something that was horrible” – Ama Burland opens up about why she left Christ Embassy Youth Church

Entertainment“I saw something that was horrible” - Ama Burland opens up about why she left Christ Embassy Youth Church

Ghanaian influencer Ama Burland has opened up about the red flags that made her leave Christ Embassy Youth Church (CEYC).

According to Ama Burland, she saw something horrible at the  Christ Embassy Youth Church and never returned.

She recounted how branches were in competition to raise more funds to beat other branches of the church.

Speaking on an X space, Ama Burland stated, “I was part of the pioneers when Erock started that church. A friend of mine introduced me to him; he had just moved from being a singer. The pastor took me to Kempinski to apologise for what I saw. We both understand that he is the reason why I left the church.

I am from a muslim home, which was my introduction to church; every understanding of the church and the bible was straight from him, but some things were weird to me.

When I started the church, one month in, we were doing a competition with other branches in terms of money raised for the church. I did not understand why we were supposed to beat other branches in terms of money raised. I didn’t even know where the money was going. People in the church found delight in beating other branches”.

Ama Burland added, “The preaching constantly became about money, and I was the Instagram social media handler at the time. I left the church because I saw something that was horrible”.

She further recounted that a man was healed who was using crutches and left the church without the crutches, but she later saw that same man in crutches again, which she did not understand.

“During the miracle night, there was this guy from the UPSA who had an accident and was using crutches; they prayed for him, and he put the crutches down. The next day, I saw him on campus using the crutches. I did not understand.  After I saw him, I did not come back again.

The third thing, because of the preaching, people were influenced to give testimonies. When they came, they thanked the pastor for the opportunity to win souls for Christ. It felt like the reverence was more to the leaders than God himself. I was made a cell leader and put in charge of a group as a leader”, Ama Burland added.

She further narrated that people started selling their things, “They were told if you gave your last seed to God, he would multiply it, that was the perception there. When it came to the girls, I felt there was grooming on the side. What I saw, I had to leave. That is their story; they can come out to speak about it”.

Also, Ama Burland, in a separate interview some months ago, has revealed she nearly ended her life by committing suicide after fake nude images of her went viral online.

According to Ama Burland, she felt she had disappointed her mother, who had invested so much into her education.

Speaking in an interview on Headless YouTuber’s channel, Ama Burland stated, “I wanted to take my life that day when it was trending. I felt like I had disappointed her. Like, why does this have to happen to me? I didn’t want to face my mother. She had brought me to school, and this is what I had brought home”.

“I don’t think it was just about her; maybe it was also about how society would view me. That’s why I almost ended it all,” she stated.

Ama Burland further reflected on the traumatic event, stating, “I should have given my mother the benefit of the doubt that she would have listened to me.”

Meanwhile, in related news, Ama Burland has taken a swipe at Glitch Africa following the company’s denial of her recent allegations, which concerned the “Rants, Bants & Confessions” podcast.
