Samuel Atta Akyea, the former Member of Parliament for Akim Abuakwa South, has revealed he sees no presidential qualities in Kennedy Agyapong, a former Assin Central lawmaker.
Atta Akyea highlighted that Ken Agyapong is better qualified to serve as Trade Minister than as President.
Speaking on UTV, Atta Akyea stated, “I see no presidential qualities in Kennedy Agyapong; he is better qualified to serve as Trade Minister than as President”.
Also, Atta Akyea has said he is afraid that Kennedy Agyapong, a flagbearer hopeful, can beat someone in Cabinet as President.
According to Atta Akyea, he is scared of Kennedy Agyapong’s temperament.
He added, “In God’s name, I will not say I have a problem with Kennedy Agyapong, I don’t even have one problem with him, but to be a president it demands a lot of things.
I am scared of Kennedy Agyapong’s temperament; I am afraid that if God is not merciful to us, he could beat someone in the Cabinet as President. He does not have a heart. I know him like the back of my palm.
There is no way you can tell Ken to calm down, in public is where he show of his temperament, things that should not be in public he does not know how to do them”.
Atta Akyea further highlighted that as president, one must have shock absorbers, which Ken Agyapong does not have.
He stressed that when competence, temperament, intellectual prowess, and vision are combined, Bawumia is ahead of Ken Agyapong.
Atta Akyea stated, “The temperament of a president is someone who has shock absorbers; it is not someone who wants to fight people if they have an issue. He is my classmate. I would have followed him so that he would appoint me as Chief of Staff. Hostile language, insulting behaviours, from a leader of the nation.
We can open doors for him as a businessman to run a big business, but if we combine competence, temperament, intellectual prowess, and vision, Bawumia is ahead. When he has gotten to how do we tame his temperament, it cannot be done, even what you are telling him is offensive to him. Those following him today are even afraid to talk to him”.
Meanwhile, Kennedy Agyapong has said he has endured all the insults and attacks in silence because of party unity.
The former Assin Central MP warned that the day he chose to speak, Ghanaians would know that there are real men in the NPP.
Ken Aggyapong further mocked former vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the 2024 flagbearer of the NPP for conceding defeat too early in the December polls.
According to Kennedy Agyapong, Dr Bawumia rushed to concede defeat in the 2024 elections, leaving members of parliament high and dry to lose their seats.
Speaking to NPP delegates ahead of the January 31 presidential election, Kennedy Agyapong stated, “A lion may remain calm for the sake of unity, but it fears no one. I have endured the insults and attacks in silence, but the day I choose to speak, you will know there are real men in this party.
You cannot rush to concede defeat before the counting is done and cause our MPs to lose seats, then expect leadership again. Not today, not tomorrow”.
