“I will arrest my own child if they steal state funds when I am president” – Ken Agyapong

News“I will arrest my own child if they steal state funds when I am president” – Ken Agyapong

Kennedy Agyapong, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, has confidently stated he would arrest his own child who steals state funds.

According to Ken Agyapong, his children knowing who he is won’t even come close to state funds.

He highlighted that if he would arrest his own children who steal state funds, what of ministers who steal.

Ken Agyapong stressed that because of his principled nature, other NPP bigwigs are against his bid to lead the party.

Speaking to NPP delegates during his campaign runs, Kenned Agyapong stated, “If my own child steals state funds, I will arrest him; my children already know of my attitude, so they will not even come close to the state to become president son and come and disgrace me. I will arrest my own child.

So if I arrest my own son, when you are minister, and you make a mistake, what will I do to you? That is the reason why they do not want to vote for me. When that is not done, Ghana will never succeed.

When everyone comes, it’s his family and friends, and they come for their share, and they leave with the country left to go backwards. I am promising you, I kennedy Agyapong, I will serve this country with my heart and honesty”.

Some netizens reacting to Kennedy Agyapong’s remarks stated, “But your ‘own son’ will never have to steal state funds.  Only low-level civil servants do.  Your son would be awarded a juicy, over-bloated, nearly bursting government contract.  He will then be hailed as an astute businessman just like _____ (fill in the blank)”.

“It’s not true, though, and does he plan on appointing his children to offices? The children, too, are plenty, party members should relax koraa, lol”, a netizen added.

“Then arrest your wife, because she failed to install the street lights after getting a GH¢100 million streetlight contract… where are the street lights?”, a netizen reminded Ken.

An X user added, “There are some streetlight contract issues making waves, streets say your wife had a hand in it… @realKenAgyapong. Walk the talk by reporting your wife first? Then we’ll know you’re serious…. if not, that’s another joke no one will fall for. So you free our ears”.

Additionally, an X user added, “If you are rich in this country and want to help a Ghanaian, first read comments on social media about fellow Ghanaians and decide whether helping is even worth it. A simple Google search about this man would substantiate what he is saying, but no, they prefer ignorance and gyimie”.

“Who else has realised that he talks, threatens,  and brags too much but shows very little action?Do you remember this man and Obinim some time ago? There are many instances, even with Kevin Taylor’s case, in which he lost miserably. The other one too is a liar with zero competence”, a netizen noted.

Meanwhile, a latest poll by the Global Info Analytics in December 2025 has revealed that the former Assin Central legislator, Kennedy Agyapong, has gained huge momentum in the NPP presidential race.

According to the Global Info Analytics, Kennedy Agyapong has moved from 18 per cent to 31 per cent in the NPP race.

However, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President, remains in the lead with 45% in December.

The poll revealed that Bawumia led the race with 45 per cent, Ken Agyapong with 31 per cent, with 11 per cent undisclosed and 9 per cent undecided.

The survey, which was conducted through a random computer-assisted telephone interview of about 3000 delegates, revealed Ken Agyapong made 13% gains on his November output, while Dr Bawumia moved closer to the 50% by 2 per cent.

With a little over a month to the NPP primary, the former Vice President will require at least 6% of the undecided votes.

However, for Kennedy Agyapong to clinch victory, he will be required to secure nearly all the 19 plus percent undecided and undisclosed votes.
