The Asantehene, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has warned the Bono Regional Minister Joseph Addae Akwaboa for allegedly using his political position to meddle in the chieftaincy affairs.

According to the Asantehene, he will not allow anyone use politics to meddle in chieftaincy issues.

Joseph Addae Akwaboa has been accused of meddling in Sampa chieftaincy affairs.

The Otumfuo highlighted that the Bono Regional Minister, who had served as a lawyer in the Sampa chieftaincy case, which has been resolved, is now using his political position to meddle in the issue.

Speaking to members of the council on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the final Asanteman Council meeting of the year at the Manhyia Palace, the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II stated, “I don’t hate anyone, but I will not allow anyone to use politics to meddle in chieftaincy issues”.

“The regional minister was a lawyer in the case, and the issue has already been settled, so I don’t know why he is still talking about it,” Otumfuo added.

In related news,  Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will today, December 16, 2025, submit the official Bawku mediation report to President John Dramani Mahama.

Reports suggest that President John Mahama will receive the Bawku Mediation Report at a ceremony to be held at the Jubilee House.

According to the information gathered, the presentation is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. with senior government officials, traditional leaders and the mediation team expected at the Jubilee House.

The National Peace Council, the Christian Council, the Office of the National Chief Imam, the Catholic Secretariat, UNDP, and the British High Commission have all been invited.

Also, the Ministers for Upper East and North East and representatives from the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs and National Security will also be at the ceremony.

The news follows a statement signed by the Chief of Staff at the Manhyia Palace, Kofi Badu, which announced the completion of the mediation in the Bawku chieftaincy conflict after the Asantehene convened a final face-to-face meeting between the disputing factions at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

The Manhyia palace, in a statement released after the completion of the mediation in the Bawku chieftaincy conflict, announced that the delegations representing the Naayiri and the Bawku Naba, including chiefs, lawyers, academics, and community leaders, engaged in cordial discussions, reaffirming that they are one people with no reason for conflict.

Also, the Asantehene commended both sides for their maturity, urged them to prepare their followers to permanently abandon violence.
