Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member and Elder of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said the current leadership of the party is leading the party into destruction.

According to Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe, the NPP’s failure to rebuild from the grassroots following the miserable 2024 electoral defeat undermines its core values.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe explained that any political party that suffers a major electoral defeat like the NPP did ought to return to the grassroots to assess what went wrong.

He stressed that the NPP should have rebuilt its structures from the bottom up, adding that it is the only path to sustainable success.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Friday, January 30, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe explained, “If we truly want to win back the soul of the party, then we must do things democratically”.

“The proper way is to organise from the grassroots to the top. That has always been the tradition of the party, but unfortunately, it did not happen.”

“A party that has been badly damaged in a general election cannot proceed the way the NPP is going now. You must go back to the grassroots, listen to them, let them tell you exactly how they feel, and allow even the broader population to understand why you failed,” he stated.

“I won’t say the party is doomed, but the leadership at the moment is leading the party into destruction,” he said.

He further cried out that the rise of “monocracy” within the party, arguing that there is no internal democracy and fair play within the party.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe noted that there is manipulation and imposition of candidates, arguing that such practices weaken political parties and erode public trust.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe added, “There are no internal democracy and no fair play. This is very dangerous,”

“There are clearly factions in the party, and whoever wins will struggle to bring the party together. We have seen this before, and it completely destroyed the party in the past,” he noted.

“If they do not know the history of the party, they should study it,” he cautioned. “We have been here before. We must be careful.”

Earlier,  Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe had said the party is now in the hands of looters.

According to Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe, if the NPP dares expel Prof Frimpong Boateng, they should sack him too.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe is quoted by TV3 to have said, “The party is now in the hands of looters, if they sack Prof Frimpong Boateng, then they should sack me as well”.

Also, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe backed Prof Frimpong-Boateng, who described the party as fake and challenged the NPP leadership over plans to expel him.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe boldly asserted that Prof Frimpong-Boateng’s comments reflect the party’s current state and warned that the party is drifting from its founding ideals.

According to Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe, he fully agreed with the views expressed by Prof Frimpong-Boateng.

In a 3news.com report on January 13, 2026, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe is quoted as saying, I listened to Prof Frimpong-Boateng’s interview, and I must say without fear that I agree with him entirely. All the points that he raised are issues that are really worrying the party”.

“What I will say at this stage is that if they sack Frimpong-Boateng, then they should sack me. They should sack Kwame Pianim, they should sack Dr Arthur Kennedy and quite a number of us,” Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe stated.
