Edudzi Tameklo, Acting CEO, National Petroleum Authority, has boldly stated the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) government under Akufo-Addo and Bawumia would have used the abduction of the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, as a reason for fuel prices to go up.
Lawyer Edudzi Tamekloe made this known while speaking on the achievements of the current JohnMahama administration.
He asserted that the Mahama administration has stabilised the economy, and also criticised the previous NPP government for its mismanagement of the economy.
Speaking on TV3 New Day, on January 7, 2025, Lawyer Edudzi Tamekloe stated, “Do you know that today if the NPP were in power, the abduction of the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, would have been a reason for fuel prices to go up?”
You know the narrative, you have a situation where a whole government. Communication set up is put and it is Russia-Ukraine. The people who were having bombs drop on them in Russia and Ukraine had their inflation in the single digits. Look at the distance from here to Ukraine, we were rather having double-digit inflation, and Russia-Ukraine were responsible for that.
He added, “President Mahama, in one year, with thoughtful leadership, without Eurobond, has kept this economy sound. As we speak today, we have not taken one dollar Eurobond, but the economy is sound”.
Ato Forson has today paid the debts he inherited, about 709 million dollars. Do you know the beautiful thing? He made that payment at an exchange rate of 10.5. If that 709 million dollars was paid when NPP was in power, we were going to pay 13 billion Ghana cedis, but because the exchange rate has reduced, when he paid that debt, he paid alittle over 8 billion cedis. Look at the savings”.
His comments follow. President Donald Trump who had announced the US had carried out a large-scale strike on the capital city of Caracas, capturing President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.
According to President Trump, the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife were captured and flown out of the country.
Donald Trump, in a post, stated, “ The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country.
This operation was done in conjunction with the U.S. Law Enforcement”.
Some Ghanaians reacting to Edudzi Tamekloe’s comments stated, “Don’t underestimate the effect of the Covid 19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian War. In fact, persons in the supply chain industry have more to talk about on these two challenges”.
Another netizen added, “Where is the lie…V-Levy Venezuelan President release levy”.
“Addo D and Bawuliar are catching stray bullets every day. NPP people need to dump Bawuliar if not opposition go be long”, a netizen added.
