COP Lydia Donkor, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, has shared details about her partner.

According to COP Lydia Donkor, she is not married but in a committed relationship.

The CID boss disclosed that she has two children, who are twins.

She disclosed that their relationship is mutually supportive, as they both feel fortunate to have each other.

COP Lydia Donkor added that her partner provides reassurance and acknowledges her efforts with affirmations such as “good job” and “well done.”

Speaking in an interview with Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Starr FM on March 26, 2026, COP Lydia Donkor stated, “I have a very supportive partner…and he’s a very supportive human being…who understands what I do…and gives me all the…my ideal man is who I have now.

“He is intelligent. He is tall. He is smart…super smart…He is, um, he’s caring, “she said.

In related news, Bola Ray, a Broadcast journalist, has hyped Commissioner of Police, COP Lydia Donkor, to the position of Inspector General of Police (IGP).

During the interview, COP Lydia Donkor gave a spirited rendition of Ghana’s national anthem, with host Bola Ray showering her with praise and going further to predict her rise to the highest office in the police service.

Bola Ray declared, “Ladies and gentlemen, after IGP Yohuno, your next IGP, Ghana’s first female substantive IGP, COP Lydia Donkor. We wish you the best”

“But Lydia, aside from everything, you are diligent, you are a great soul, you love human beings, and you are a professional. Keep up the good work and may God guide and see you through,” he added.

Also, Lydia Yaako Donkor has revealed she has been trained and ready for the Inspector General of Police (IGP) role.

According to Lydia Donkor,  if the appointing authority deems it fit for her to be appointed, she will accept the offer, as anybody is capable of becoming IGP once they are at the rank of commissioner.

COP Donkor added, “Everybody’s capable of being an IGP. Once you’re at the rank of commissioner, anybody can be picked to be IGP… Of course, I mentioned that every commissioner at this level is capable of being appointed.

“So, if the appointing authorities deem it fit for me to be appointed, why not? I’ve been trained to be ready,” she said.

“I used to be a girl’s guide. You know, Girl’s Guide and brownies and all of that, so you’ve been trained to be ready at all times,” she added.

Reports had earlier suggested that COP Lydia Donkor was being tipped to replace IGP Yohonu before he was given an extension.

COP Lydia Donkor was tipped to replace IGP Yohuno, who is near his retirement age in December 2025.
