NewsLady narrates how she escaped the terrifying Amedzofe Canopy Walkway collapse

A lady in a viral video has narrated how she escaped the Amedzofe Canopy Walkway collapse.

In the viral video, one of the visitors who went to the Amedzofe Canopy Walkway in the Volta Region for a fun outing has narrated the terrifying moment.

According to her, it was raining when they began the walk, and because they were many, the site conductor instructed them to move in batches.

However, when the last batch reached the middle of the walkway, it suddenly collapsed, causing panic.

She added that the conductor was nowhere to be found during the incident, and there was no rescue team on-site, so they had to save themselves. Fortunately, they all came out unscathed.

Speaking in a viral video shared on X,  the woman stated, “Yesterday, when we got there, it was raining around 3 pm. Because there was a long queue, we had to go in ten, ten people go after some time, then another ten follow.

Then all of a sudden, I could not see anything again, and we were the last set. We got to the middle, and we realised the thing was going down, it was just going down drastically. Some were screaming, and all we were doing was praying for God to protect us.

I sat on the wood to pray for God to protect us. There was no rescue team; the one who was conducting was nowhere to be found, so we had to climb back up those to use the entrance”.

Some netizens reacting to the lady’s narration stated, “That’s why most people during December, no travelling, vacation, excursion or anything that has to do with travelling miles to partake or attend an event.  Cuz least mistake Dem go close your chapter”.

Another netizen added, “This is very scary, falling from that height in such a bushy area would only mean death… If they’re not too sure of the quality, they shouldn’t put people’s valuable lives at risk”

One X user added, “You’re in Ghana asking for a rescue team at a tourist site that you’re even lucky to get. Save your money and travel to tourist destinations that mean business. If u die, you die a stupid death”.

Meanwhile, the Amedzofe Canopy Walkway in the Volta Region has been temporarily shut down following an incident.

According to the management of the popular ecotourism site, the incident on Wednesday involved one of the small exit pillars that support a section of the structure.

Authorities revealed local and international engineers have been deployed to examine the affected pillar and the overall integrity of the walkway.

The notice stated, “The Amedzofe Canopy Walkway is temporarily closed following an incident yesterday involving one of the small exit pillars.

As a precaution, the facility has been closed while a team of local and international engineers carries out a full structural assessment and guides the next steps. The walkway will remain closed until all safety requirements have been met and it is deemed fully secure for public use,” the statement added.
