In a six-page memoir he left behind, Godfred explained that he had been struggling with serious mental health issues long before arriving at university.
None of his friends was aware of his struggles, and his family offered no meaningful support. As a result, his condition steadily worsened until it finally overwhelmed him, leading to this tragic decision.
Some Ghanaians reacting to the tragic news stated, “This is truly heartbreaking
Godfred Akomaning, Immortal Legend, was brilliant, accomplished, and still silently struggling. It’s a painful reminder that success doesn’t cancel internal battles. Mental health struggles often go unseen. Checking in on people, creating safe spaces, and taking cries for help seriously can make a difference. No one should feel they have to carry that weight alone”.
“Hmmnn, the sad part is,when you are a man, people and society hardly listens to your plight let alone thinking of trying to help but if it’s a woman, you will get dozens of people ever ready to console, help and make her happy again, but for a man, the least said, the better!”, a netizen added.
“I struggled from level 300 to 400, and all along the gym was my best therapy….Anytime I felt I was losing myself, I just went on a jog or rushed to the gym…RIP Technologian, sorry that your family deserted you…many families always do, especially mine too”, a netizen added.
One more X user wrote, “Hmmm. This is heartbreaking. No one should ever go through this. Speak to someone as and when you need it for we do not know when the situation we are going through will worsen.
Rest in Peace, Godfred!”
“”His family offered no MEANINGFUL support”
I ❤ that word meaningful. People help in their own way. But their way isn’t the only way.
Being able to listen to and understand a man’s pain is a rare superpower. That’s true empathy. We all like to pretend we have it, but we don’t…”, one more Ghanaian added.
“Men will always act like they are fine when in actual fact, they are not cos that’s how society has trained them to be, forgetting that men are human too and have weaknesses, and http://shortcomings.No one is ready to listen just because you’re a man,” a netizen added.
One more X user added, “A close friend of his just told me 😢😢😢😢No one, not even those of us close to him, noticed he was going through such tough moments. Immortal was always full of life; you could hardly ever see him sad. There was always a smile on his face”.
Additionally, a netizen added, “Hmm, while it’s sad, I still believe no one, I mean no one, should be this selfish to cause such pain to friends and family. Can’t say he should rest in peace.
To anyone who’s going through something in this life, you can’t do life alone. Talk to someone before it consumes you”.
