News“Mahama Naser Toure has left a very big mark” - Ayawaso North MP

Yussif Jajah, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North, has eulogised the late Ayawaso East Member of Parliament Naser Toure Mahama for leaving a very big mark.

According to Yussif Jajah, the late Naser Toure Mahama inspired many young politicians, including himself, to get into parliament.

He recounted a community initiative championed by the late MP, the “Operation Cement Your Lungu,” which mobilised residents to improve sanitation and infrastructure in underserved neighbourhoods.

Speaking to the media at the late MP’s residence, Mr Jajah stated, “In fact, within his first time in Parliament from 2010 to 2016, he did a lot that inspired some of us to also campaign to get to Parliament in 2017,” he said.

“I think he’s left a very big mark. Whoever takes over from him must be fully prepared to continue and build on what he started,” he added.

Also, Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, the First Deputy Majority Whip, has eulogised the late Ayawaso East Member of parliament Naser Toure Mahama.

The First Deputy Majority Whip revealed that Naser Toure Mahama was one of the honest persons she has ever met.

According to her, the Ayawaso East MP was a committed and principled lawmaker and was always present in parliament.

Speaking to JoyNews after news of his death, Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe stated, “You have been very good to me, and we have worked together as one people,” she said. “I don’t even know how to express my feelings now because this is not the time to hear this news. I was expecting more from him this year as we deliver for the party to move on.”

“All that I would say is condolences to my wife, my children and the NDC fraternity, and may his soul rest in heaven. It’s not easy,” she said.

“Every day he is present in the house. Go and check our visit attendance. Every day he is there. He will be there from the beginning to the end,” she stated.

“He is one of the honest persons I have ever met in my life. When he says A, it’s A. When he says B, it’s B. He won’t tell you red and then go and come back and say blue. No,” she said, adding, “He is a good person. Never have we lost a conversation.”

Their remarks follow the death of Naser Toure Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East.

Reports suggest the NDC MP passed away at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after a period of illness.

According to multiple sources, Naser Toure Mahama is said to have died on Sunday, January 4, 2026, in the afternoon.

The late Naser Toure Mahama was a fourth-term MP and held several key roles in Parliament.
