A 42-year-old man, Alex Darko, has been arrested over a viral video in which he allegedly published false information about the Police Service.

According to a Police statement, he was arrested by the Central East Regional Police Command at Awutu Bawjiase in the Central Region.

The Police revealed the suspect was put before the court on January 27, 2026, and has been remanded into custody.

The information contained in a statement issued by the police read, “In the said video, the suspect was seen making very serious allegations, ‘It is the police that supply armed robbers with guns. ’ A statement with the tendency to create fear and panic among the public and also cause disaffection towards the police.

“Upon intelligence, a team of police officers from the Bawjiase District Police Command arrested the suspect at his hide-out at about 2:00am,” it said.

The statement further added, “During investigations, suspect Alex Darko admitted to being the one seen in the viral video and that he personally recorded it”.

“He was put before the Ofaakor Circuit Court today, January 27, 2026, and has been remanded into Police custody to reappear on February 12, 2026”.

“The Central East Regional Police Command wishes to caution the public against any such unfortunate statements,” the statement added.

In related news,  Ghana Police Service Officers at the Volta Regional Police Command have rejected a $20,000 bribe from a Nigerian drug dealer identified as Charles Adenkule.

Reports suggest the Police Officers arrested the suspect on January 23, 2026.

The suspect, Charles Adenkule, was driving a Jeep registered in Nigeria (FKJ692KF) when he was stopped at the Kpotame barrier between Ada Junction (Kasseh) in the Greater Accra Region and Sogakope.

The police officers intercepted the Nigerian-bound vehicle, which was carrying narcotics worth over one million Ghana cedis, with the suspect allegedly offering to bribe them with $20,000, but the officers rejected the offer.

According to reports, it is yet to be known whether the illicit drugs originated from Ghana or Ghana was being used as a transit route.

Also, ten parcels of compressed substances suspected to be cocaine, with a street value of GH₵1,032,650, and half a kilogram of compressed dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were uncovered from the vehicle.

A senior police source at the Volta Regional Police Headquarters revealed the operation was based on actionable intelligence.

Charles Adenkule, the suspect, is now in custody as investigations continue.

His Jeep has been impounded at the Volta Regional Police Headquarters in Ho, and the seized substances will be processed and sent to the forensic laboratory for further analysis.
