Man spotted in a viral video allegedly forging a WASSCE result

A man has been spotted in a viral video allegedly altering the WASSCE results of a Senior High School graduate.

In the viral video shared on social media, the man was spotted busily forging the provisional result generated by the WAEC portal after the candidate had checked his or her results.

The video has been met with some netizens calling for the arrest of the man, and others noting that the result can only be altered to fool the candidate’s family, as it cannot be used to apply to any university.

A netizen stated, “That result will be for the candidate’s family. That cannot be used to apply to any university!!”

Instead of leveraging the computer to help you study adequately to pass your examination, you are using it to skillfully change the results, allegedly?

Oh, this generation is cooked. We have a long way to go if there’s any redemption.

The question is, how long can you fake your results mpo. Oh AMA Ghana”.

A netizen added, “The background statement says Have you heard of tiffs? They are very talented and creative, you will see them on their special day of creating them, their blood will be filled with crimin@l blood”.

“Edon cast for this job, be that. Somebody’s work is about to be closed down”, one more X user added.

The video comes amid WAEC revealing 220,008 out of 461,736 failed Core Mathematics, marking the worst performance in the subject in seven years.

Also, “only 48.73% of candidates attained grades A1 to C6 in 2025. This represents a massive collapse from the 66.86% achieved in 2024. A total of 209,068 candidates passed with A1-C6, but 114,872 candidates (26.77%) failed the subject outright with an F9 grade.

Additionally, 131,097 students (30.27%) failed English Language, 161,606 students (39.87%) failed Integrated Science, and 196727 students (44%) failed Social Studies.

A total of 1,021 schools registered candidates for the examination, representing a slight 0.24% increase over 2024, while 5,821 candidates (1.26%) were absent”.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has said the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results accurately reflect student performance.

According to the Ghana Education Service (GES), the claims by Dr Yaw Osei-Adutwum, the past Education Minister, attributing the failure to unsupportive management practices are baseless.

They revealed that the GES has cancelled any allowances due to teachers, as claimed by Dr Yaw Osei-Adutwum.

Also, Prof Stephen Adei, a renowned educationist, has said stricter invigilation prevented cheating that could have inflated scores in the 2025 WASSCE results.

The renowned educationist asserted that the decline exposed the long-standing weaknesses in Ghana’s education system.

According to him, stronger exam supervision by WAEC has limited the extensive cheating that often increases results.

Prof Adei further noted that Ghana’s results depend not so much on the students’ performance, but also on how many people get away with murder.
