A sister of the deceased Charles Kwadwo Fosu, also known as Daddy Lumba, Ernestina Fosu and his German-based wife Akosua Serwaa, are demanding an independent probe into his death.

According to the two women, they are demanding a probe into Daddy Lumba’s demise following the inconsistencies in narrations around his death.

In a statement dated Tuesday, October 13, 2025, read, “The family of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh (Daddy Lumba), a 60-year-old German citizen of Ghanaian origin, is calling for an independent and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death in Ghana on 26 July 2025”.

They recounted three different narrations on the death of Lumba, one from an eyewitness, a police coroner report, and the account of Priscilla Ofori, also known as Odo Broni.

The statement added, “An eyewitness reported that on the night of the incident, the late Mr Fosuh called a friend to come to his residence. Upon arrival, the friend was prevented from seeing him by a woman living with Mr Fosuh. After waiting for nearly two hours, he left. On his way home, he received a call informing him that Mr Fosuh had died at home,” the statement said.

Another account stated, “A report from the Ghana Police Service to the Coroner at the District Magistrate Court in Accra stated that Mr Fosuh, a known diabetic, complained of pain in his legs and waist on 24 July 2025 and was taken to the Sunshine Diagnostic Centre for an MRI scan. Due to agitation and fear, he was placed under anaesthesia. After the scan, he developed severe pain and was transferred to the Bank Hospital, where he died on 26 July 2025”.

They also recounted the account given by Odo Broni, “Ms. Priscilla O. initially informed the family during the first family meeting that Mr. Fosuh had been taken to the Bank Hospital, where he received an injection that caused him severe pain before he passed away.

However, the following day, when Kwasi, a cousin of the late Mr. Fosuh, approached her with the same question, she gave a different account – stating that Mr. Fosuh had actually died at home, and that she had cleaned and dressed the body before calling a friend, identified as Serwaa A., to assist her in taking him to the hospital.

Since then, Ms. Priscilla O. has declined to provide any further information, and her statements remain inconsistent and contradictory,” the statement said.

Based on the three accounts, which Akosua Serwaa and Ernestina Fosu described as contradictory

The statement further added, “These contradictory versions have left the family deeply concerned and distressed, raising serious questions about the true cause of death and whether proper medical and investigative procedures were followed.

Akosua Serwah Fosuh (widow) and Ms Ernestina Fosuh (sister of the deceased) have formally contacted the following authorities seeking assistance:

The German Embassy in Accra, Ghana,  The Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt – BKA) in Wiesbaden, Germany, and The German Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt) in Berlin.

“The family is also calling on the Ghana Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to question Ms Priscilla O. and Mr Philip Kwabena A. (also known as Roman Fada) to assist in uncovering the truth about the death of their loved one, Mr Charles Kwadwo Fosuh,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, the wife of the late Daddy Lumba, seeking a court injunction to halt the funeral, demanding recognition as the sole legal widow and the right to perform traditional rites.

According to court documents, her legal team is contesting the legitimacy of the arrangements, arguing that they were made without her knowledge, consent, or involvement.

“PRAYING this Honourable Court for an Order restraining the Defendants, their agents, assigns, workmen, etc., from either collecting the body of the late CHARLES KWADWO FOSU a.k.a. DADDY LUMBA from the morgue and performing the burial and final funeral rites of the deceased, upon the grounds set out in the accompanying Affidavit,” the writ stated.

However, the Lawyers for the Fosu Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta have told Akosua Serwah that Daddy Lumba’s family only recognises Priscilla Ofori, also known as Odo Broni, as the wife of the musician.

According to the lawyers, Akosua Serwaa refused to relocate to Ghana some 15 years with Daddy Lumba for medical treatment.

The Lawyers further revealed that Akosua Serwaa wrote to Daddy Lumba of her intentions to initiate a divorce, and even presented Lumba’s drinks to his family, signifying the dissolution of their marriage.
