Kobina Tahir Hammond, a former Adansi-Asokwa Member of Parliament, has boldly claimed that there would be no rerun election conducted in Kpandai.
According to KT Hammond, everyone should perish the idea of a rerun as the matter is in court with 3 different applications.
It will be recalled that the Electoral Commission announced it will hold a rerun of the Parliamentary Election in the Kpandai Constituency on Tuesday, 30th December, 2025.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Director of Research Mr Fred Tetteh read, “The Electoral Commission wishes to inform the General Public that following the Tamale High Court’s ruling on Monday, 24th November, 2025, ordering a rerun of the “Kpandai Constituency Parliamentary Election within thirty (30) days” and upon receipt of a letter from the Clerk to Parliament on Tuesday, 9th December, 2025, formally notifying the Commission of the occurrence of a vacancy in the Membership of Parliament, the seat of the Constituency in Parliament has become vacant.
The rerun of the Kpandai Constituency Parliamentary Election will be conducted for only the three (3) Candidates who contested the 2024 Parliamentary Election in the said Constituency”.
However, speaking to journalists on Monday, December 15, 2025, Hammond stated, “Who said there will be an election? The matter is in court with 3 different applications, including a stay of execution and another also at the Supreme Court,” he said.
“… There is a stay of execution application which is pending, and so no one should rush to conduct another election. What at all is the NDC looking for?
“We want the stay of execution to head to the Supreme Court to challenge the Tamale High Court’s ruling. Everyone should perish the idea of a rerun. There will be no rerun in Kpandai,” he noted.
Meanwhile, the Global InfoAnalytics poll has announced that a new poll organised ahead of the Kpandai rerun revealed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Mathew Nyindam, is leading ahead of the Kpandai rerun.
On Sunday, December 14, 2025, the Global InfoAnalytics poll showed Mathew Nyindam with 50% while NDC candidate, Daniel Nsala Wakpal, attracts 46% of the vote.
Donkor Eric Nipani, an independent candidate, only secured 1% of the vote, while 3% of respondents said they were undecided.
The poll also revealed that voters who initially backed Donkor Eric Nipani, with 28%, now support Mr Nyindam.
Also, the poll revealed Matthew Nyindam’s performance as MP during his short stint in parliament, with 3% of voters rating him as excellent, while 32% described his performance as very good or good.
Additionally, 36% rated his performance as average, with 29% assessing it as poor or very poor.
Futhermore, the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, has said that the NDC is favoured in the Kpandai rerun, but the race is too close to call.
Speaking on the findings of the poll on Channel One on Saturday, December 13, Mussa Dankwah explained, “The sentiments in Kpandai overall appear to favour the ruling NDC government in the sense that you have a majority of voters saying that the country is heading in the right direction”.
“So broadly, this is a sentiment that should really carry the NDC candidate across the finish line quite easily. What we’ve seen in the poll when it comes to the parliamentary election is that it is too close to call. The margin is just within the margin of error,” Mr. Dankwah said.
“For that reason, we have to wait for the final poll to see which direction the election will go,” he concluded.
