Benard Antwi Boasiako, commonly known as Chairman Wontumi, a New Patriotic Party(NPP) National chairman hopeful, has said appointees who enjoyed JUICY positions under Akufo-Addo are nowhere to be found now that the party is in opposition.
Chairman Wontumi has expressed worry over the current state of the NPP, noting that all persons who got juicy appointments when the party was in power have left the political scene after the party’s humiliating defeat.
Speaking to NPP delegates when he met them in Asamankese, “After the elections, all those who enjoyed the juicy appointments are nowhere to be found. The party is now being run by the regional and constituency executives of the party.
We made a very big mistake as a party, but in 2028, when we win the election, we will not repeat these same mistakes”.
In related news, Chairman Wontumi has claimed that Ghanaians are missing the governance of Akufo-Addo and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to Chairman Wontumi, everyone in Ghana is calling for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP to come and rescue them.
Speaking to the media in an interview shared on social media, Wontumi stated, “Ghanaians are calling for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and they have also missed the good governance of former President Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia”.
“So at the moment, cocoa farmers are calling NPP to come, everybody, all the sectors, so are the importers, everybody is calling for the NPP to come, so we hope we will have the favour from God and men to vote for NPP and Bawumia and the majority of the NPP MPs”.
In related news, the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has endorsed Chairman Wontumi as the next party National Chairman.
In a viral video, Chairman Wontumi was arriving at a Bawumia’s residence where he exchanged greetings with some members of the NPP around.
Wontumi later walked inside Dr Bawumia’s residence, saying, “Your excellency, the president”.
Dr Bawumia stated, “INCOMING, how are you?”.
Wontumi responded, “Very well, my boss”.
The former vice president, referring to Wontumi as the incoming clear, shows his endorsement of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP as the next National Chairman.
Recall, Wontumi, who has officially declared his intention to contest for the NPP National Chairman position.
According to Wontumi, having consulted his Maker and sought the counsel of party elders, he has declared his intention to serve as National Chairman of the NPP.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, February 4, the Ashanti Regional Chairman stated, “Our party has faced challenges and learned hard lessons along the way. At this critical moment he NPP demands leadership that is steady, principled, and committed to unity.
A leader who is grassroots personified, who values every member from our elders to the youthfu allies, and who is willing to make the ultimate sacrifices for the party
Bernard Antwi-Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), having consulted my Maker and sought the counsel of party elders, hereby declare my intention to serve as National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party. I do so not for personal ambition, but to strengthen, rebuild, and unify our great part.
The road ahead will demand vision, courage, and unwavering determination. Leadership at this moment requires bravery—the courage to stand firm, make difficult decisions, and be willing to lose everything if necessary for the NPP.
