“Only witches and wizards don’t appreciate progress” – Netizens blast Miracles Aboagye

News“Only witches and wizards don’t appreciate progress” – Netizens blast Miracles Aboagye

Netizens on social media have launched a scathing attack at the Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, who has claimed that prices of goods and services are rising despite the fall of the US dollar to the cedi.

According to Miracles Aboagye, Ghacem, which was GH¢90 now GH¢120; roofing sheets, which were GH¢900, are now GH¢2000.

The NPP communicator asserted that when Ghanaians are complaining about the rising prices, the NDC government keeps saying the dollar has come down.

Miracles Aboagye stressed that the government needs to come clean and tell Ghanaians the truth about the rise in prices despite the appreciation of the cedi to the dollar.

Speaking at a forum assessing the government’s first year in office, dubbed the People’s Forum, Miracles Aboagye stated, “When the trotro drivers and taxi drivers complain, the NDC government says the dollar has come down. When market women complain, the government says the dollar has come down. And when unemployed teachers and nurses ask for what is due them, they are told to keep quiet because the dollar has come down”.

The view on the people’s forum is that the government needs to come clean with us; they need to tell us the truth, something is going on somewhere that they are not telling us. How is it that the dollar has come down, yet prices of day-to-day items that you and I will benefit from will go up?

They keep saying the market is wicked, the business people are wicked, and that is why they are not reducing prices”.

Miracles Aboagye further explained, “If I am a cold store owner and my import costs fall because the dollar is down, but I am paying 28% more for electricity and higher water bills, how will I reduce prices of meat or other products?” he asked.

Cement 42.5 R Ghacem, which was 90 cedis in December 2024, today it is selling between 110 and 120 cedis. Roofing sheets that were 900 cedis in 2024 are selling for 2000 cedis.

He added, “A boil of Kenkey that they campaigned with, today Kenkey is selling for 7 cedis, and other places in Koforidua, the women are telling me that they are buying Kenkey for GH¢10. A pack of bottled water that was selling for 28 cedis, it’s selling for GH¢36, sachet water was GHS 8, now GHS 10, “he said.

Reacting to his claims, a netizen stressed that only witches and wizards don’t appreciate progress.

The netizen wrote, “Everything has been stable and only the witches and wizards who don’t appreciate the stability and progress in the last year..Not a single thing said at the forum was true. Just bare face lies. These people ankasa  Dey no won learn ..”

A netizen added, “Where at all are people buying these cheaper-priced goods, because I keep hearing prices are down, but I still don’t see them discounted on the market. Schools just reopened, and fees have been increased too”.

“This is the reason why I will never vote for you guys!! Chale we grow oo, so this lies can’t feed in our minds… Our parents’ era has passed. They didn’t apply their common sense, we are not like them, cos if u say 1.. We will verify before we listen to 2.  Korso gyimie”, one X user added.

A netizen adds, “The opposition party doesn’t need deception to win power; doing that will even irritate the people. The smartest thing is to develop a good, honest, logical position on what you would do for the country’s economy and prosperity”.

One more Ghanaian wrote, “This is the kind of public address that pisses me off. Get a camera, follow him and let him show us where kenkey is sold at 10gh. They always think Ghanaians are stupid and dumb. All this noise is just so, his boss can come into power and get him a position, simple”
