“OSP claims of sabotage pathetic” – Ken Ofori-Atta’s lawyer

News“OSP claims of sabotage pathetic” - Ken Ofori-Atta's lawyer

Frank Davies, a lawyer for former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, has once again fired shots at Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng over his allegations of sabotage during the Akufo-Addo regime.

Ken Ofori-Atta’s lawyer noted that Kissi Agyebeng is trying to drag the name of former president Akufo-Addo and apportion blame to him over his failure to do his work as the OSP.

According to Frank Davies, the OSP’s claims of sabotage are pathetic, adding that if the OSP office has been hounded, he should try and handle the challenges.

Speaking on Channel One TV on November 5, 2025, Frank Davies stated, “He is now dragging the ex-president, Nana Akufo-Addo, into this, and what is the Special Prosecutor saying? I mean, does he listen to himself? He is laughable. It is on record that before Ken Ofori-Atta left this country, he had notified the former Chief of Staff, who was Frema Osei Opare Addo, and had notified the present Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah. It is a public record before he left the jurisdiction.

“So, now, Kissi Agyebeng, who was appointed by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is saying that Akufo-Addo held his hand and prevented him from stopping Ken Ofori-Atta from leaving this country. I mean, are we kids in this country? You people take these guys seriously?

I mean, the president who appointed you for a particular office, now that he is not in office, you are saying that this same president prevented you from having Ken Ofori-Atta exit the country when Ken Ofori-Atta was leaving and he had given notice?” he said.

He further added, “In any event, had Ken Ofori-Atta been charged? Even if we are taking what the Special Prosecutor is saying on face value, at the time that Ken Ofori-Atta left this country, had he been charged with any offence?

“Ken Ofori-Atta was walking around this country… What was the Special Prosecutor doing all the while that he was in this country? Now that Ken Ofori-Atta has left, he is saying this? I mean, it is pathetic. I am not sorry for the Special Prosecutor; I feel a lot of pity for him. But if his office has been hounded, he should try and handle the challenges of his office,” he added.

Frank Davies remarks follow the Special Prosecutor, who has admitted that the Office of the Special Prosecutor was powerless under the former Akufo-Addo government.

The Special Prosecutor revealed that the OSP saw former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta leaving Ghana after the 2024 elections, but they were powerless.

According to Kissi Agyebeng, the OSP lacked the operational backing required to enforce any travel restrictions.

Speaking KSM Show, Kissi Agyebeng clarified, “We didn’t watch him leave; we were powerless, that is the truth. We saw him leave, but we couldn’t prevent him from leaving the airport.

We don’t control the airport, we don’t control the exit point. Let’s face facts, before John Dramani Mahama was sworn in on 7th January, Nana Akufo-Addo was the president, that was his cousin.

Now we can rely on the Ghana Immigration Service to block someone, but at the time he left, you call up Immigration, no one will bother to respond to you”, he added.

He further added, “When he left, the President was Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo at the time he left. We were not getting the cooperation at the time from other security agencies”.

“National Security, no (cooperation at the time), situation is different now, National Signal Bureau, no, at the time, the situation is different now, National Intelligence Bureau, zero, at the time, the situation is different now, I mean the security set up was against the OSP, so we will not be able to perform our job, this was the situation,” he disclosed.
