Pastor John Wesley Amenuku Agble, leader of the Apostolic Recovery Movement, has caused a stir on social media following his trending video describing his fellow men of God who tell their congregation to give to their parents before them as not working for Jesus Christ.

According to Pastor John Wesley Amenuku, the pastor outweighs that of any other person in the life of a Christian.

He claimed that the role of a pastor in one’s life cannot even be performed by a mother

Speaking to his congregation in a viral video, Pastor John Wesley Amenuku Agble claimed, “You hear pastors say that if you have not given your mother this amount of money and you bring it to me as a pastor, you are not wise.

“Have you heard it before? They say you should give to your parents first before you come and give to the pastor. And when you hear such speeches, I’m telling you, you know that he’s not working for Jesus Christ,” he said.

“How do you compare the two? The role of a pastor in your life, your mother cannot even perform that role. Your mother brought you into the world. Yes, we don’t take it from her.

“The Bible says we should honour them. Honour them. But you can’t compare the two.

He added, “One brought you into this world, and this world is full of troubles. This world is full of challenges. One will take you to the other side, which is of more value, where you will live for eternity.

“This one will guide you into heaven. And you want to reward the one who brought you into this world full of trouble more than the one who will guide you into eternity. In any case, your father and your mother bless you in the same church the pastor is your spiritual head. Now your father and mother go to the pastor, he lays hands on them and cast out demons or pray or heal them is that not it, your father and your mother are even sowing seed to the pastor, and the pastor who is standing there who does not know he is representing Jesus Christ is telling you give it to your mother more than you give to your pastor. The three of you, father, mother plus child you are all dependent on the pastor.   ”

Some Ghanaians reacting to the man of God’s remarks stated, “That statement needs balance. Honour is not a competition.

Scripture never teaches that a pastor replaces your parents. God speaks clearly about both. Honour your father and mother. This is a command with a promise.

The elders who lead well are worthy of double honour.

These truths do not cancel each other. Your pastor is your spiritual leader.

Your parents are your God-given foundation. Jesus even corrected people who used spiritual excuses to neglect their parents. That alone shows God’s heart.

Giving should never lead to dishonouring responsibility. A healthy Christian life does not rank people to neglect others. It understands responsibility, timing, and being led by the Spirit. Serve God. Honour your parents.

Respect and support your pastor. No confusion”.

Another X user added, “So this man means he’s more important than Jesus?? Because he just didn’t collect anything, he said we should give to the needy ones, and moreover Jesus asked his followers to take offerings, but they should take when given willingly”.

An x user added, “You don’t need to be overly smart to know that what he’s saying is wrong. If pay come wey I give you your 10% me then you finish oo. Talk of some you over my parents shit”.

“You’re mad, paaa, all you’re saying is just stupid talk. Go away, gullible man you think you’re working for Jesus fucking Christ, but you are working to make money and possessions off of your congregation aboa ba”, an X user wrote.

One more X user added, “Like why should I even reward my pastor in the first place…This is the result of calling your pastors and their wives ”daddy” and ”mummy while you call your dads ”oluman” and your moms ”the name their mates call them”

A netizen argued, “Your parents paid your school fees, fed you and clothed you. You are here just talking, k3k3 makes you think your role is more important than those who took responsibilities? Some of you grown-up pastors ong God will punish you paaa”

“When you are broke, the pastor moves to the next available, but parents would never abandon you, honour your father and mother that your days might be long, read your Bible and know God for yourself. Period, yes, they play a role, but parents carry spiritual authority too”, a netizen added.

Additionally, one last X user wrote, “This is why, as a Christian is important to read the scriptures by yourself. No human can guide you to heaven, and the Bible explicitly calls out honouring your parents!”.
